AAP Government’s Commitment to Transformative Changes Boosts Punjab’s Tax Revenue: Harpal Singh Cheema

Punjab Finance, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Sunday proudly announced that since coming to power in March 2022, the AAP-led Punjab Government has implemented transformative changes with unwavering honesty and transparency, resulting in a consistent increase in its tax revenue year after year. He highlighted that this fiscal year’s net collection from GST, Excise, VAT, CST, and PSDT upto February reflected a growth rate of 12.10 percent compared to the same period of FY 2023-24, with an impressive 28.01 percent growth in net GST collection during February 2025.

Revealing this in a press communique issued here, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that this fiscal year has seen a continuation of the previous years’ trend, with a notable 13.39 percent growth rate in net GST, 14.43 percent in Excise, 5.10 percent in VAT, 17.03 percent in CST, and 13.65 percent in PSDT upto February compared to the same period in FY 2023-24. He said that the total net collection from these taxes upto February this fiscal year is Rs 38272.66 crore as compared to Rs 34141.36 crore during last fiscal year registering an increase of Rs 4131.30 crore.

Highlighting the substantial growth in GST revenue for the last month, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the net GST collection during February 2025 reflected a notable increase of Rs 506.26 crore. The net GST collection for February 2025 amounted to Rs 2,313.69 crore, compared to Rs 1,807.43 crore in February 2024. Additionally, he also mentioned the commendable rise in Excise revenue, with February’s collection reaching Rs 686.47 crore, an increase of Rs 30.47 crore from the Rs 656 crore collected in February last year.

Pointing out the initiatives taken to improve its own tax revenue, the Finance Minister said that the Excise and Taxation department has been achieving its goals through a two-pronged approach of broadening the GST base by running drives to bring unregistered businesses under GST and enhancing compliance among registered taxpayers besides extending every help to the honest taxpayers. He said that the department has launched the Bill Liyao Inaam Pao Scheme and sought the active involvement of school and college students to spread awareness among the younger generation.

Lambasting the previous Akali-BJP and Congress-led state governments for their inability to boost the state’s tax revenue, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said they lacked effective fiscal management and political will to tighten the noose around tax evaders. In contrast, Finance Minister Cheema reiterated the AAP-led Punjab Government’s unwavering commitment to honesty, transparency, and transformative changes, which have yielded remarkable achievements in tax revenue growth, ultimately strengthening the state’s tax revenue without burdening honest taxpayers.

Punjab workers can avail Rs. 2k to Rs. 70k under stipend scheme for their children’s education: Sond

          Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has taken important steps for the welfare of workers in the state. Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said that under the stipend scheme of the Punjab Labour Welfare Board, benefits ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 70,000 can be availed for the education of laborers’ children. Along with this, the condition of two years of service of the worker to avail the stipend scheme has been abolished.

          It is worth mentioning that the Punjab Labour Welfare Board stipend scheme is given for the education of the children of workers. Earlier, mandated two-year service condition for workers to qualify for the stipend scheme has been officially abolished after the initiative of Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond.

Labour Minister     Tarunpreet Singh Sond stated that workers will now be able to avail the stipend benefit from the date of their contribution to the fund, rather than having to wait for two years of service. He said that the stipend scheme has an important contribution in the education of the children of the workers of Punjab. He said that the benefit of the stipend scheme can be obtained from the first class to higher education.

          Under the Punjab Labour Welfare Board stipend scheme, girl students from the first to the fifth class are given Rs. 3000 and boys are given Rs. 2000 per year. Similarly, from 6th to 8th class, girls are given Rs. 5000 and boys are given Rs. 7000 per year. For boys of class 9th and 10th can avail Rs. 13,000 and girls Rs. 10,000 as stipend. Girl students of 10+1 and 10+2 are given a stipend of Rs. 20,000 and boys are given Rs. 25,000 as stipend per year.

          For college students (graduation, post-graduation, ITI, polytechnic, ANM, GNM and other professional courses), girls are given a stipend of Rs. 25,000 (if student resides in hostel then Rs. 40,000) and boys are given a stipend of Rs. 30,000 (if student resides in hostel then Rs. 45,000) per year.

          Similarly, for medical, engineering and other professional courses, a stipend of Rs. 40,000 is given to girls (if student resides in hostel then Rs. 60,000) and Rs. 50,000 to boys (if student resides in hostel then Rs. 70,000) per year.

Mohali: To mark International Women Day and World Kidney Day, 80 kidney donors across the country, majority of them women, were felicitated during the launch of a kidney transplant unit at Edison Hospital, Mohali on Saturday.

Dr. Ajinder Bains chief transplant surgeon and medical director of the hospital said that women are the epitome of selflessness and compassion as they are always the caregivers and nurturers in our society.

Chamoli: मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी प्रातः 10ः30 बजे करीब ज्योर्तिमठ पहुंचे। उन्होंने रेस्क्यू अभियान का जायजा लिया और एवलांच की चपेट में आए घायलों से मुलाकात कर उनका हालचाल जाना। इसके बाद उन्होंने जिलाधिकारी से रेस्क्यू अभियान की जानकारी ली। प्रात 11 बजे मुख्यमंत्री ने घटना स्थल का हवाई निरीक्षण किया।
        मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि 55 में से 47 लोगों को रेस्क्यू किया जा चुका है। बाकी 8 लोगों को निकालने के लिए रेस्क्यू अभियान चल रहा है। जो लोग रेस्क्यू किए गए हैं उनको जोशीमठ लाया जा रहा है। सभी का उपचार किया जा रहा है। मुख्यमंत्री ने घायलों को हर संभव सहायता देने की बात कही है।
        मुख्यमंत्री ने आर्मी हास्पिटल में उपचारधीन मजदूरों से मुलाकात कर हालचाल जाना। उन्होंने जिलाधिकारी को निर्देशित किया कि खोज बचाव कार्य में किसी प्रकार आवश्यक संसाधनों की कमी न रहे जो भी आवश्यकताएं हैं उनको समय से चिन्हित किया जाए।
        जिलाधिकारी संदीप तिवारी ने माननीय मुख्यमंत्री को जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि कल 6 बजे करीब माणा पास के निकट हिमस्खलन हुआ। वहीं पर बीआरओ के 57 मजदूर कंटेनरों में रहते थे जिनमें से 2 मजदूर छुट्टी पर थे। 55 मजदूरों में से आईटीबीपी, सेना ने तेजी से खोजबीन करते हुए अब तक 47 लोगों को सकुशल रेस्क्यू कर लिया है। केन्द्र सरकार व राज्य सरकार की ओर से 04 हेलीकॉप्टर भेजे गए हैं। जिनकी मदद से अभी तक 25 मजदूरों को ज्योर्तिमठ लाया गया है जिनमें से 4 मजदूरों को गंभीर चोटें आयीं हैं। उनका आर्मी अस्पताल में वरिष्ठ चिकित्सकों की देखरेख में इलाज चल रहा है।
        साथ ही उन्होंने बताया कि केन्द्र व राज्य सरकार से पूरी मदद मुहैया की जा रही है। जिलाधिकारी ने आईटीबीपी और आर्मी द्वारा किए गए रेस्क्यू अभियान की प्रशंसा की। कहा कि एनडीआरएफ 28 सदस्यीय टीम भी घटना स्थल पर पहुंच चुकी है। उन्हें काफी अनुभव है  जिस तरह रेस्क्यू अभियान चलाया जा रहा है बाकि मजदूरों को जल्द रेस्क्यू किया जाएगा।
         इस दौरान पुलिस अधीक्षक सर्वेश पंवार, अपर जिलाधिकारी विवेक प्रकाश, एसडीएम चन्द्रशेखर वशिष्ठ व एसीएमओ एमएस खाती मौजूद रहे।

माणा के पास हिमस्खलन की चपेट में आए 17 अन्य श्रमिकों का शनिवार सुबह रेस्क्यू कर लिया गया है। उन्हें सेना के अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है, जहां उनका उपचार चल रहा है। अब तक कुल 50 श्रमिकों का रेस्क्यू किया जा चुका है। मुख्यमंत्री श्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी स्वयं इस रेस्क्यू अभियान की मॉनिटरिंग कर रहे हैं। शनिवार को सुबह माननीय मुख्यमंत्री ने घटनास्थल का हवाई सर्वेक्षण किया और ज्योतिर्मठ में राहत और बचाव कार्यों की समीक्षा की। माननीय मुख्यमंत्री ने बताया कि 05 श्रमिकों की खोजबीन के लिए युद्धस्तर पर रेस्क्यू अभियान संचालित किया जा रहा है।

शनिवार को घटनास्थल का निरीक्षण कर मुख्यमंत्री श्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी सीधे यूएसडीएमए स्थित राज्य आपातकालीन परिचालन केंद्र पहुंचे और शासन के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के साथ रेस्क्यू अभियान को लेकर चर्चा की। उन्होंने बताया कि राहत और बचाव दलों ने सराहनीय कार्य करते हुए अब तक 50 लोगों का रेस्क्यू कर लिया है। हिमस्खलन में फंसे 05 और श्रमिकों की खोजबीन के लिए युद्धस्तर पर अभियान चलाने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने भी फोन पर रेस्क्यू अभियान को लेकर अपडेट लिया और हर संभव मदद का आश्वासन दिया है। उन्होंने कहा कि गृह मंत्री श्री अमित शाह और रक्षा मंत्री श्री राजनाथ सिंह भी श्रमिकों की सुरक्षित निकासी के लिए चिंतित हैं और नियमित अपडेट ले रहे हैं। उन्होंने केन्द्र सरकार द्वारा प्रदान किए जा रहे सहयोग के लिए माननीय प्रधानमंत्री, मा0 गृह मंत्री तथा मा0 रक्षा मंत्री जी का आभार जताया।

उन्होंने बताया कि 05 कंटेनरों को ट्रेस कर श्रमिकों को सुरक्षित निकालने में राहत और बचाव दलों को सफलता मिली है। अत्यधिक बर्फ होने के कारण 03 कंटेनर ट्रेस नहीं हो पा रहे हैं। आर्मी, आईटीबीपी द्वारा इन कंटेनरों का पता लगाने के लिए युद्धस्तर पर प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं। कंटेनरों की तलाश के लिए आर्मी के स्निफर डाग्स की तैनाती की गई है। आर्मी की 03 टीमों द्वारा सघन पेट्रोलिंग की जा रही है। दिल्ली से सेना की जीपीआर रडार ;ग्राउण्ड पेनीट्रेशन रडारद्ध मंगवाई गई है, जो बर्फ के अंदर कंटेनरों को ट्रेस करने में मदद करेगी।

उन्होंने बताया कि घायल श्रमिकों के इलाज के लिए सभी व्यवस्थाएं की गई हैं। माणा और ज्योतिर्मठ में सेना के अस्पताल में घायल श्रमिकों का उपचार किया जा रहा है। एम्स ऋषिकेश और श्रीनगर मेडिकल कॉलेज के साथ ही स्थानीय सीएचसी और पीएचसी को एलर्ट पर रखा गया है। इस अवसर पर सलाहकार समिति, आपदा प्रबन्धन विभाग के उपाध्यक्ष श्री विनय कुमार रुहेला, डीजीपी श्री दीपम सेठ, प्रमुख सचिव श्री आरके सुधांशु, सचिव श्री शैलेश बगौली, सचिव श्री पंकज कुमार पाण्डेय, आयुक्त गढ़वाल श्री विनय शंकर पाण्डेय, सचिव आपदा प्रबन्धन एवं पुनर्वास श्री विनोद कुमार सुमन, जीओसी उत्तराखण्ड सब-एरिया मेजर जनरल प्रेम राज, आईटीबीपी के आईजी श्री संजय गुंज्याल, आईजी एसडीआरएफ श्रीमती रिद्धिम अग्रवाल, पुलिस महानिरीक्षक गढ़वाल परिक्षेत्र श्री राजीव स्वरूप, यूएसडीएमए के एसीईओ क्रियान्वयन डीआईजी श्री राजकुमार नेगी, वित्त नियंत्रक श्री अभिषेक आनंद, जेसीईओ मो0 ओबैदुल्लाह अंसारी आदि मौजूद थे।

सड़क निर्माण के कार्य कर रहे श्रमिकों को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर भेजें-सीएम
मुख्यमंत्री श्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने बताया कि उन्होंने शनिवार सुबह बदरीनाथ क्षेत्र का हवाई सर्वेक्षण किया। उन्होंने बताया कि वहां पर अत्यधिक बर्फबारी हो रही है तथा 06 से 07 फीट तक बर्फ जमा है। उन्होंने आने वाले दिनों में हिमस्खलन की संभावना के दृष्टिगत जिन स्थानों में श्रमिक कार्य कर रहे हैं, वहां से उन्हें सुरक्षित स्थानों पर भेजने के निर्देश दिए। साथ ही उन्होंने सचिव आपदा प्रबंधन एवं पुनर्वास को एवलांच की संभावनाओं के दृष्टिगत एडवाइजरी जारी करने को कहा।

जल्द बहाल की जाए संचार व्यवस्था-मुख्यमंत्री
मुख्यमंत्री श्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने निर्देश दिए कि भारी बर्फबारी के कारण जिन गांवों से सम्पर्क नहीं हो पा रहा है, उनसे तुरंत सम्पर्क किया जाए। प्रशासन की टीम को वहां भेजा जाए और उन्हें जिन चीजों की आवश्यकता हो, तुरंत भेजी जाएं। यह सुनिश्चित किया जाए कि वहां राशन, दवाइयों के साथ ही अन्य जरूरी सामग्रियों की उपलब्धता है। उन्होंने बदरीनाथ क्षेत्र में संचार व्यवस्था, फोन तथा इंटरनेट को तुरंत बहाल करने और जिन क्षेत्रों में कनेक्टिविटी बाधित हो गई है, वहां सेटेलाइट फोन भेजने के निर्देश दिए। साथ ही उन्होंने जिन गांवों में बिजली बाधित है, वहां जल्द विद्युत व्यवस्था को बहाल करने के निर्देश दिए हैं।

औली के रिसोर्ट में रह रहे लोगों को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर भेजें
अत्यधिक बर्फबारी के कारण हिमस्खलन की संभावनाओं के मद्देनजर औली, हर्षिल आदि अधिक ऊंचाई वाले क्षेत्रों के विभिन्न रिसार्ट में रह रहे सैलानियों को सुरक्षा के दृष्टिगत सुरक्षित स्थानों पर भेजा जाएगा। माननीय मुख्यमंत्री ने सैलानियों से अगले तीन दिन इन क्षेत्रों में यात्रा न करने की अपील की है। साथ ही स्थानीय प्रशासन को सुरक्षा के दृष्टिगत सभी जरूरी एहतियात बरतने के निर्देश दिए हैं।

अलकनंदा में पानी जम रहा, मा0 मुख्यमंत्री ने रेकी के निर्देश दिए
मुख्यमंत्री श्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने बताया कि हवाई सर्वेक्षण के दौरान उन्हें यह आभास हुआ कि भारी बर्फबारी के कारण अलकनंदा नदी जम सी गई है। उन्होंने अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिए कि रेकी कर इसकी जांच की जाए कि कहीं इससे कोई खतरा तो नहीं हैघ् उन्होंने विशेषज्ञ संस्थानों को इस संबंध में आवश्यक कार्रवाई करने तथा यदि कोई खतरे की स्थिति हो तो तुरंत सुरक्षात्मक कदम उठाए जाने के निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने एरियर सर्वे, मैनुअल सर्वे तथा सेटेलाइट सर्वे कर जल्द रिपोर्ट देने को कहा है।

रेस्क्यू अभियान की स्वयं निगरानी कर रहे मा0 मुख्यमंत्री
मुख्यमंत्री श्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी विगत दिवस से लगातार रेस्क्यू अभियान की स्वयं निगरानी कर रहे हैं। माननीय मुख्यमंत्री जी के निर्देश पर राहत एवं बचाव कार्य युद्धस्तर पर जारी हैं। दिनांक 28 फरवरी 2025 को दो बार माननीय मुख्यमंत्री जी द्वारा राज्य आपातकालीन परिचालन केंद्र का भ्रमण किया गया। शुक्रवार रात को भी मा0 मुख्यमंत्री ने कंट्रोल रूम पहुंचकर इस पूरे अभियान की समीक्षा की। वहीं शनिवार को घटनास्थल का हवाई सर्वेक्षण करने के उपरांत मा0 मुख्यमंत्री सीधे कंट्रोल रूम पहुंचे और वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के साथ चर्चा की।

संचार व्यवस्था क्यू.डी.ए से की जा सकती है बहाल-रिद्धिम
बैठक में आईजी एसडीआरएफ श्रीमती रिद्धिम अग्रवाल ने बताया कि जिन स्थानों में संचार सेवाएं बाधित हो गई हैं, वहां क्यू.डी.ए ;क्विक डिप्लायमेंट एंटीनाद्ध स्थापित कर संचार व्यवस्था को बहाल किया जा सकता है। मा0 मुख्यमंत्री ने इस दिशा में आवश्यक कदम उठाए जाने के निर्देश दिए। श्रीमती रिद्धिम अग्रवाल ने बताया कि एसडीआरएफ द्वारा बर्फ के कारण अवरुद्ध मार्गों को खोलने का कार्य युद्धस्तर पर किया जा रहा है।

युद्धस्तर पर संचालित है रेस्क्यू अभियान, कंट्रोल रूम से हो रही मॉनीटरिंग
आज दिनांक 01 मार्च 2025 को वायु सेवा का एक एम.आई.-17 हेलीकॉप्टर, तीन चीता हेलीकॉप्टर, उत्तराखण्ड सरकार के 02 हेलीकॉप्टर, एम्स ऋषिकेश से एक एयर एंबुलेंस राहत एवं बचाव कार्य में लगाए गए हैं। माननीय मुख्यमंत्री जी ने आवश्यकता पड़ने पर और अधिक हेलीकॉप्टर लगाए जाने के निर्देश दिए हैं। शनिवार को दोपहर 03 बजे तक माणा/बद्रीनाथ से रेस्क्यू किये गये लोगों में से 29 लोगों को हेलीकॉप्टर के माध्यम से जोशीमठ लाया गया, जिनका उपचार आर्मी हॉस्पिटल में किया जा रहा है।

राहत एवं बचाव कार्य में बद्रीनाथ में लगभग 200 लोग कार्य कर रहे हैं। इनमें आपदा प्रबंधन सेना, आइ.टी.बी.पी. बी0आर0ओ0, एन0डी0आर0एफ, एस0डी0आर0एफ, जिला प्रशासन, पुलिस, स्वास्थ्य विभाग, वायु सेवा यूकाड़ा, अग्निशमन विभाग, खाद्य विभाग, द्वारा लगातार कार्य किया जा रहा है।माणा स्थित आर्मी बेस कैम्प के पास आर्मी हैलीपैड़ को तैयार कर लिया गया है। बद्रीनाथ स्थित आर्मी हैलीपैड़ पर 6-7 फीट बर्फ है जिसे हटाये जाने की कार्यवाही की जा रही है। बद्रीनाथ के पास बर्फबारी के कारण अभी भी 5-6 कि0मी0 रास्ता बंद है, जिसे खोलने के लिए युद्धस्तर पर कार्य किया जा रहा है।  

मा0 मुख्यमंत्री जी के निर्देशन में आपदा प्रबंधन विभाग द्वारा सभी के साथ समुचित समन्वय किया जा रहा है। लगातार राज्य आपातकालीन परिचालन केंद्र के माध्यम से नियमित तौर पर पूरे घटनाक्रम पर नजर रखी जा रही है तथा सभी विभागों के आपसी समन्वय से युद्ध स्तर पर राहत एवं बचाव कार्य किया जा रहा है। लामबगड़ से आगे कई स्थानों पर रास्ता बंद होने के कारण रैस्क्यू टीमों को घटना स्थल पर जाने में परेशानी हो रही है।

मा0 मुख्यमंत्री जी के प्रभावी नेतृत्व, कुशल मार्गदर्शन एवं प्रबन्धन में सभी विभाग पूरी निष्ठा, समर्पण तथा प्रतिबद्धता के साथ कार्य कर रहे हैं। राहत टीमें पूरे उत्साह के साथ ग्राउंड जीरो पर राहत और बचाव कार्यों को संचालित कर रही हैं।

Cyber Crime, Investigation, and Law Workshop at Chandigarh on March 2

Aiming to strengthen awareness and equip professionals with advanced knowledge on cybercrime, a workshop on “Cyber Crime, Investigation, and Law” is being organized by Truth Labs, Nasdeep Foundation and Proud Legal on March 2, 2025 at Law Bhawan Hall, Sector 37, Chandigarh.

The event would bring together leading cybersecurity experts, law enforcement officers, legal professionals and IT specialists to discuss emerging cyber threats, investigative techniques, and the evolving legal framework governing cyber offenses.

The workshop would cover key aspects of cybercrime, including hacking, phishing, financial fraud, identity theft and cyber terrorism. Session on Investigation Techniques would focus on insights into digital forensics, cybercriminal tracing and ethical hacking tools.

 During Legal Framework session deliberations on the Information Technology Act, provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and recent amendments in data protection laws would be held.

Analysis of high-profile cybercrime cases and law enforcement strategies to tackle cyber threats effectively would be discussed during presentations on case studies.

Eminent speakers including Justice Talwant Singh, Former Justice, Delhi High Court, would share valuable insights during the workshop on the significance of digital evidence, ethical hacking, and collaboration between law enforcement agencies to combat cyber threats. In addition to this the workshop would also feature interactive sessions, live demonstrations, and panel discussions with cybersecurity experts to address real-world challenges.

This initiative of aforementioned NGOs is aimed at to bridge the gap between law enforcement, legal professionals, and cybersecurity experts to enhance cyber resilience. Participants would be awarded certificates of completion and discussions on future collaborative programs would be held to further strengthen cybersecurity measures.

The awards included Roll of Honour-80, College Colour-108, Certificates of Distinction-503, and Certificate of Merit-339. Celebrating academic excellence among faculty, eight professors who completed their Ph.D.s were honoured, while two ANOs were acknowledged for successfully finishing their NCC training. 

Chief guest, Sh. Manish Tewari, a distinguished alumnus encouraged young achievers to embark on a new trajectory, reminding them that the world ahead will be far more complex. He stressed the importance of staying vigilant, keeping their eyes and ears open, and continuously updating themselves academically.

Emphasizing the indispensability of excellence, he highlighted that the future of humankind lies at the intersection of two civilizations—the virtual and the physical. He urged students to make judicious choices, cautioning that “the choices you make come with their implications.” Addressing the prize winners, he advised, “Keep reading, keep studying, stay updated, and don’t let the march of human civilization delete you!”

As a gesture of support, he announced a contribution of Rs. 10 lakh from the MPLADS fund to the college.

President GGDSD College Society, Ms. Vaishali Sharma shared her pride in seeing distinguished alumni like Sh. Manish Tewari achieve such remarkable heights. She congratulated the students on their achievements and extended her best wishes to their proud parents.

College Principal, Dr. Ajay Sharma while reading the annual report, highlighted numerous achievements, including an All India rank of 70 in NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) by the Ministry of Education, placing it among the top 0.002% of colleges in India. The college has been recognized for its academic prestige with an A+ accreditation in the fourth cycle. Dr Ajay proudly announced that the college excelled in sports and cultural domain, winning the Shadi Lal Overall Memorial trophy for Men, for the fourth consecutive year, bagging the title of ‘The Best College in Sports’ among more than 200 colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, a gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championship and securing the Overall Runners-up Trophy at the Panjab University Youth and Heritage Festival, (Chandigarh, Zone A), and the Second Runners-up at the Inter-Zonal Youth Festival. 

Dr. Sharma shared that GGDSD College is the only college under Panjab University to receive a grant under the PM-USHA Scheme of Education. The college’s commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement has earned it several certificates of appreciation. The Institution Innovation Council, GGDSD college, secured a 4-star rating from the Ministry of Education for the third consecutive year. Meanwhile, the placement cell facilitated 500 campus recruitments. The college reputation was reinforced through rankings in India Today, The Week, Outlook, and The Times .  

General Secretary of GGDSD College Society, Dr. Anirudh Joshi, delivered the Vote of Thanks, praising Shri Manish Tewari as a man of substance whose relentless hard work and perseverance enabled him to overcome obstacles and achieve phenomenal political heights. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

        जिलाधिकारी संदीप तिवारी ने बताया कि अभी तक 55 में से 50 मजदूरों का रेस्क्यू किया गया है जिसमें 04 गंभीर रूप से घायल बताए जा रहे हैं। वहीं 05 मजदूर अभी भी मिसिंग हैं जिनकी खोजबीन आईटीबीपी, आर्मी, एनडीआरएफ की संयुक्त टीम द्वारा की जा रही है। आशा करते हैं कि जल्दी वो 05 लोग मिल जाएंगे। रेस्क्यू किए गए 50 मजदूरों में से 24 मजदूरों को हैली से ज्योर्तिमठ लाया गया है। जिनका आर्मी हास्पिटल के वरिष्ठ चिकित्सकों की देखरेख में इलाज चल रहा है। बाकी मजदूरों का बद्रीनाथ आर्मी हॉस्पिटल में इलाज चल रहा है। बताया कि अभी बद्रीनाथ हेलीपैड में बर्फ हटाने का काम चल रहा है। कल सुबह हेलीपैड की बर्फ साफ होने के बाद बाकी मजदूरों को भी ज्योर्तिमठ लाया जाएगा।
       जिलाधिकारी ने आर्मी हास्पिटल में घायलों से मिलकर उनका हालचाल जाना। वहीं आर्मी हास्पिटल में गम्भीर रूप से घायल 01 मजदूर अशोक पुत्र जीवन राम, बेरीनाग पिथौरागढ़ को इलाज के लिए एयर एम्बुलेंस से एम्स ऋषिकेश भेजा गया है।

The Department of Psychiatry at PGIMER organized a one-day Continuing Rehabilitation Programme (CRE) on “Neuropsychology: Assessment and Intervention”.

 The event, which drew delegates from across the country, was aimed at advancing the understanding of neuropsychological assessments and interventions in mental health and rehabilitation. The programme was inaugurated by the organizing chairperson, Prof. D. Basu, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, who delivered the welcome address.

The event also featured Prof. R.K. Ratho, Dean of Academics, as the chief guest, and Dr. Roopesh B.N., Additional Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at NIMHANS, as the guest of honor. The inauguration ceremony featured and acknowledged organizing secretaries, Dr. Devender Kumar and Dr. Krishan Kumar, alongside other core organizing team members, Dr. Lalit Kumar and Dr. Renjith Pillai, for their contribution to the success of the event. The CRE attracted a diverse audience of mental health professionals, rehabilitation specialists, and junior and senior residents in psychiatry, reflecting the growing interest in neuropsychology within the mental health community.

The workshop featured a range of expert speakers in the field of clinical neuropsychology, who shared valuable insights and practical expertise with the participants. Key scientific sessions during the morning session focused on the structural and functional aspects of the brain, presented by Prof. Shubmohan Singh. Dr. Roopesh B.N. also delivered an engaging session on neurocognitive assessments in children and the neurophysiological basis of neuropsychological retraining. The afternoon sessions delved into specific topics, including neuropsychological deficits in various psychiatric disorders, discussed by Dr. Jyoti Mishra (Assistant Professor, GMCH-32), and the fundamentals of neuropsychological assessments and interventions for adults, presented by Prof. Hardeep Lal Joshi.

The workshop also explored cognitive rehabilitation in traumatic brain injury and stroke, with a session by Dr. Mohammed Afsar, Consultant Clinical Psychologist at Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya. The diverse range of topics and expert speakers garnered high appreciation from the delegates. The event concluded with engaging discussions and a deeper understanding of the evolving role of neuropsychology in mental health care and rehabilitation. The CRE served as an important platform for professionals in the field to enhance their knowledge and exchange ideas on the latest developments in neuropsychological practice.

Buddha Dariya Rejuvenation project: Local Bodies minister Dr Ravjot Singh and MP Seechewal issue strict instructions for taking action against violators; visit dairy complex to take stock of situation at ground level

Chandigarh/Ludhiana, March 1:

Reiterating the commitment of the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to clean ‘Buddha Dariya’, Local bodies minister Dr Ravjot Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal reviewed the project to rejuvenate ‘Buddha Dariya’ on Saturday.

Conducting a meeting with the officials at 225 mld Jamalpur STP on Tajpur road, local bodies minister Dr Ravjot Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Seechewal issued strict directions to take action against those dumping untreated waste or cow dung in the Buddha Dariya or sewer lines.

MLA Madan Lal Bagga, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, Deputy Mayor Prince Johar, DC Jitendra Jorwal, MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal among other officials of PPCB, soil conservation, irrigation department etc were present in the meeting.

Cabinet minister Dr Ravjot Singh and MP Sant Seechewal stated that the state government is making regular and serious efforts to rejuvenate ‘Buddha Dariya’. The public and industry should also support the government and administration, so that the goal could be achieved. The government or the officials are not against any industry, but no one can be allowed to dump waste in Dariya.

The civic body officials were directed to ensure lifting of cow dung from dairy complexes and dumping the same at designated sites. Further the officials were directed to expedite the process to hire a private contractor for door to door lifting of cow dung in dairy complexes.

MP Seechewal stated that this was the 8th visit of cabinet minister Dr Ravjot Singh to review the project to clean Buddha Dariya in the last two months. This shows the seriousness of the government towards the project.

Later, cabinet minister Dr Ravjot Singh and MP Sant Seechewal also visited Tajpur road dairy complex to take stock of the situation. Necessary directions were issued to the officials. Cabinet minister Dr Ravjot Singh also visited the site where ‘Bathing Ghat’ is being established on the banks of Dariya under the ‘Kar Sewa’ led by MP Seechewal.

Cabinet Minister Dr Ravjot Singh and MP Seechewal appealed to the public and industry to support the authorities in cleaning the Buddha Dariya.
