Haryana CM Approves Rs. 147.88 Lakh for Reconstruction of Syphon and Cross Regulator to Boost Water Supply in Villages

Chandigarh:

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has sanctioned Rs.147.88 lakh for the reconstruction of the Syphon and Cross Regulator at Banarsi Distributary. This initiative aims to resolve long-standing issues in water flow and benefit several villages in the region.

The villages set to benefit from this project include Khanpur, Hebatka, Maroda, Kora Bas, Jhimrawat, Maroda Bas, Basi, Puthli, Jalalpur, Firjpur Dahar, Imamnagar, Mohhammad Saral Aklimpur, Bukharaka, Bhadas, Karheri, Karkera, Jetaka Aklimpur, Rajaka, Uleta, Ghagas, Notki, Nagina, and others.

Addressing Key Challenges in Water Distribution

Due to the narrow mouth of the siphon at RD 15750, flowing debris often gets stuck, causing overflow in the canal and obstructing water from reaching the pump house. This also hampers the water supply to the tail ends of the canal, leaving farmers in downstream areas without sufficient water for irrigation. The reconstruction of the siphon will eliminate this bottleneck, ensuring a seamless water flow and preventing water wastage.

Additionally, a cross regulator is needed at RD 47650 of the Banarsi Distributary to enhance water levels in the Shadipur Minor. This will ensure that water reaches the tail-end villages of Shadipur Minor, addressing irrigation needs in these areas.

Cost Estimates and Benefits

The rough cost estimate for the reconstruction of the siphon is Rs. 48.07 lakh, while the construction of the cross regulator is estimated at Rs.99.81 lakh. Together, these projects will provide significant relief to farmers, ensuring equitable water distribution and boosting agricultural productivity across the region.

Impact on Farmers and Agriculture

The approved projects aim to provide water supply to tail-end areas, directly benefiting thousands of people of the area. This will not only resolve long-standing irrigation challenges but also enhance crop yield and overall agricultural sustainability in the villages.

Winter Poses Risks for Cancer Patients: Dr. Rajeshwar Singh

Chandigarh, December 17

Winter presents unique challenges for cancer patients, particularly those undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy. These treatments often weaken the immune system, making patients more susceptible to infections such as influenza. The drop in temperatures further exacerbates issues by increasing risks of fatigue, anaemia, and neuropathy, a condition causing numbness in extremities that can heighten the danger of frostbite. Hypothermia also becomes a concern for patients whose bodies are already struggling to maintain warmth.

Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, Director of Medical Oncology at Paras Health, emphasized the importance of vigilance during the winter season. He advised that cancer patients take simple yet effective precautions to manage these risks. Wearing multiple layers of warm clothing, including gloves and hats, can help prevent exposure to extreme cold. Maintaining a balanced diet rich in nutrients supports immune health, while engaging in light physical activity can improve circulation and overall strength. Practicing diligent hygiene, such as frequent handwashing, reduces the chances of contracting infections. Patients should also limit time spent in crowded indoor spaces to avoid unnecessary exposure to germs and should wear protective masks when needed.

Dr. Singh further recommended that patients consult their care teams to discuss vaccinations and create personalized plans to navigate the season safely. Emotional well-being is also crucial, and patients are encouraged to stay socially connected in a safe manner to reduce isolation. With the right precautions and consistent communication with healthcare providers, cancer patients can protect their health and maintain their quality of life during the colder months. Proactive measures and professional guidance can make winter a safer and more manageable season for those battling cancer.

Rattan Lal Kataria was a wonderful person. I had the experience of working with him for a long time. He still rules the hearts of people due to his language and style. He was a fearless speaker and had no animosity towards anyone. Today’s camp is a camp of his memories. As an MP, Sh. Rattan Lal Kataria had made a special mark in the hearts of people in Ambala and Panchkula areas. Today, with the efforts of his wife Smt. *BJP government has done one and a half times more work than Congress: CM*

In response to a question, the Chief Minister said since 2014, the BJP government has done one and a half times more development work than the Congress government in the last 10 years and as a result of this, people have formed the BJP government for the third consecutive time in Haryana. He said he will go among the people constituency-wise and thank them for forming the BJP government for the third time. An action plan for this is being prepared.

He said Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi always works in the interest of farmers. Farmers are being given 70 to 90 per cent subsidy for micro-irrigation projects. He said the Supreme Court has already given a decision that Haryana should get the SYL water but the issue is not being resolved due to politics.

The Chief Minister said the Supreme Court has also praised Haryana on the management of stubble. We are buying all crops in Haryana on MSP. Farmers have also benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana is another unique scheme of Haryana where the difference in the crops which are not bought on MSP is paid to the farmers under Bhavantar Bharpai. He said a sunflower oil mill is being set up in Shahbad and a mustard oil mill in Rewari.

In response to a question regarding the urban local body elections, the Chief Minister said as and when the Haryana State Election Commission announces it, we will be ready for the elections.

Kalka MLA Shakti Rani Sharma, Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal, former Speaker of Assembly Sh. Gian Chand Gupta and officials of the district administration were present on the occasion.
