CHANDIGARH, APRIL 11: Echoing that the Artificail Intelligence (AI) has demicratised access to information knowledge and daty analytics, Women Business Leaders here on Saturday underscored the need for optimum leveraging of AI tools by established and emerging businesses to lead and grow in a sustainable fashion.

Views were expressed by the group of successful women entrepreneurs including Director Jindal IVF Chandigarh Dr. Umesh Nandani Jindal, Founder XLSCLOUT & TT Consultants Komal Sharma Talwar, Director Apex Hospitals Sheenu Jhawar here during a panel discussion held on the second day of the TiECON Chandigarh 2026.

The discussion was moderated by DEAN R & D CGC Landran Neha Sharma.

Sharing her insights during the discussion, Founder XLSCLOUT & TT Consultants Komal Sharma Talwar said that digitalisation of makets has flattened the world from the perspective of access to customers. Every investor can now dare to approach and target customers from global markets, which was not possible in traditional businesses times.

“With advent of AI, the equity of access to knowledge and data has transformed bussienss models where there are no intermediaries. Everyone must integrate AI into their businesses to grow and grow,” she added.

Listing out the scope of changes happening in the Industries with AI introduction, Director Apex Hospitals Sheenu Jhawar said that is so much happening in IT and AI across the globe that it was difficult to keep track of at times.

“Technology today is not sector specific and unimpeded access to knowledge economy has incremental benefits for all businesses. Though the challenge is to how to leverage AI tools for specific business models,” Jhawar further noted.

Taking part in the discussion, Director Jindal IVF Chandigarh Dr. Umesh Nandani Jindal said that implementation of AI on healthcare is evolving fast and I hope that the relationship would turn out to be one of companionship for enhanced service delivery.

On being asked to respond about challenges being faced by businesses and society with inexorable entry of AI into our lives, the panel listed ethics, safety and security of data of clients, expenditure involved in developing AI solutions as major challenge ls going ahead.

“Though there are challenges but i am a firm believer that with time society would navigate to using AI more for its incredible uses than in proportion to the several pitfalls being witnessed at present as a result of AI intervention in our day to day existence,” Founder XLSCLOUT & TT Consultants Komal Sharma Talwar underlined.

Lauding TiECON Chandigarh for providing an enabling atmosphere for budding investors through incubation and mentoring, the Chief Minister stated that today Haryana is the 7th state in the country with more than 9500 Startups registered with DPIIT.

“Out of 117 Unicorns in the country, 19 are registered in Haryana, the Chief Minister said highlighting the state’s rising share in the nation’s IT and ITES capabilities.

Earlier, the Chief Minister handed over award cheques given by TiE in Collaboration with Chandigarh Angels Network to 4 companies worth 7.5 crores. Gamma Opengig Work Private Limited got Rs. 2 Crores , Dreamaerospace Technologies was awarded Rs.1 crore , Delectable Gourmet Private Limited  got Rs. 3.5 Crores, and Ariro Private Limited received  Rs. 1 Crore.  Also on the occassion 14 STPI awards and 7 TiE Chandigarh Ecosystem Catalyst awards were felicitated by the Chief Minister Haryana Nayab Singh Saini .

The Department of Pediatric Surgery at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, hosted one-day monothematic Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR) on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 2 PM at the Advanced Pediatrics Centre. This pivotal event offered 4 CME credit hours to pediatric surgeons, urologists, nephrologists, radiologists, and trainees nationwide. It was followed by the prestigious 6th Prof. I.C. Pathak Oration, delivered by globally acclaimed pediatric surgeon Prof. Prem Puri, Newman Clinical Research Professor, University College Dublin, Ireland and past president of European association and World federation of Pediatric Surgeons. He spoke on the “Global Impact of Pediatric Surgery: Innovations beyond specialty” discussing how pediatric surgeons have made impact beyond their specialty.

Prof. I.C. Pathak, revered as the father of pediatric surgery in India, founded the country’s one of the first dedicated pediatric surgery unit at PGIMER in the 1960s, pioneering neonatal surgeries and training countless specialists. Prof. R.K Ratho Dean academics PGIMER, highlighted the oration’s significance in honoring Prof Pathak’s legacy while advancing modern pediatric care innovations.

VUR, a leading cause of pediatric urinary tract infections (UTIs), and involves the abnormal backflow of urine from the bladder into the ureters and kidneys due to an incompetent vesicoureteral junction, often congenital in nature. In children, UTIs secondary to VUR are particularly alarming, as reflux promoter bacterial ascent during urination, leading to pyelonephritis, renal scarring, hypertension, and even end-stage renal disease in severe, untreated cases. Diagnosis hinges on voiding cystourethrography after a first or second febrile UTI, supplemented by radionuclear scans.

The CME, delved deeply into management strategies tailored to VUR grades and UTI burden: Various national and international faculty delivered state of the art talks on this topic. The CME also focused on open, laparoscopic, or robotic cure for this disease and showcased long-term data on renal preservation and breakthroughs in antibiotic stewardship amid global antibiotic resistance trends. Prof. J.K. Mahajan, Head, Department of Pediatric Surgery and the Organizing Chairperson of the CME mentioned the CAKUT (Congenital Anomalies of Kidney and Urinary Tract), has emerged as the leading cause of renal failure and end stage renal disease in children. Several patients of VUR & CAKUT from neighboring states and all across the country are seen and treated at PGI on a daily basis.

Stating that the moment regional cinema starts experiementing means success is certain, aclamined actor & comedian Binnu Dhillon on Friday here said that Punjabi Cinema is on the right track in a transition phase experimenting with success and technology. 

“Technology has radically changed the face of Cinema worldwide and our Punjabi Movie Industry is not far behind in adapting to upgradations to make better movies, Binnu Dhillon said here during a session discussion at TiECON Chandigarh 2026 earlier in the day. 

The views were expressed during the discussion held on the topic ‘How Punjab became the world’s most exported culture’. The session was moderated by Branch Manager Vritti Solutions Limited Kamaldeep Singh which saw a jam-packed hall cheering to Binnu Dhillon and his lead actress of his forthcoming movie Khushkhabri sitting in the audience. 

Listing out the challenges before the Industry including the ever-looming threat of Piracy, Binnu Dhillon said that the evolving nature of our regional Cinema would also successfully navigate all such hurdles to lead out all regional cinemas with a sustainable story telling mechanism. 

While responding to a question, Binnu Dhillon said that only thing which can stop an individual or an organisation from attaining lasting success is the moving away from one’s roots. 

“Always remember the sacrifices of your parents and well wishers to remain grounded, Binnu Dhillon further said adding that no one can laugh without the blessings of their parents. 

Taking part in the discussion, Managing Director Colab Platforms and Chief Patron Big Cricket League Puneet Singh said that it was his dream to turn his passion for Cricket into his profession, and he has been fortunate enough to share dressing room with his Cricketing heroes through organising Sport Leagues. 

Puneet Singh who has also co-founder Entertainers Cricket League said that 88% of all active sport is being consumed in the form of Cricket in India. 

“Binnu himself wanted to become a Cricketer. Shikhar Dhawan wanted to become a musician, but it’s their destinies which have taken them to different paths which are equally fulfiling, Puneet Singh further said.

Complementing his thoughts, Binnu said that by being a part of several Cricket Leagues he has been greatly exposed to so many of beautiful cultures and ethos including Telugu, Kannada and much more. This experience has taught me so much in my career, Binnu Dhillon averred.

During the launch of Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has said, “Worry about the treatment, not the bills. The government will become your pocket.” For families like that of four-month-old Diljot, born to Rashpreet Kaur and Bharat Kumar in Abohar, those words have meant everything.

Diljot was diagnosed with a severe infection and a ventricular septal defect (VSD), a hole in the heart that develops before birth. Her parents took her to Bathinda for treatment, their only concern keeping her alive. The cost of intensive care was daunting until the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna stepped in. Diljot received specialised care, including round-the-clock monitoring, and her family did not have to worry about finances for a single day.

“The doctors told me my daughter has a hole in the heart. She was treated at two different hospitals, and the Sehat Card fully covered bills amounting to ₹2.77 lakhs” said Bharat Kumar, who runs a small salon in Abohar.

The scheme, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, ensures that families never have to choose between health and financial hardship. Under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, every mother and newborn can receive up to ₹10 lakh of cashless treatment annually, whether in government or empanelled private hospitals, from the earliest hours of a child’s life.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said, “We are conducting programmes in villages to ensure families get timely check-ups and do not delay treatment.” In the last three months alone, more than 6,000 neonatal cases have been treated under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, reflecting the scheme’s growing reach in providing timely medical care to newborns. The scheme supports treatment for conditions such as low birth weight, premature birth, infections, and other neonatal complications, while strengthening maternal and postnatal healthcare services.

Diljot’s case is not an isolated one. Across Punjab, families are bringing newborns for care in the critical early days, reassured that the cost of treatment will not fall on them.

At Aggarwal Hospital, Bathinda, a newborn with severe jaundice and respiratory distress received intensive care, with a treatment cost of ₹1 lakh fully covered under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna.

A few days old Mankirat Singh from Gadhaya, Patiala, required care for jaundice and breathing complications. His father, Balwinder Singh, said, “My son was born on March 25 and had a couple of complications. While we were worried about the newborn’s health, what worried us more was how we would cover the bills. Thanks to CM Bhagwant Mann’s scheme, the treatment cost was fully covered.”

Bimla Rani from Kotkapura, Faridkot, recently gave birth to a baby requiring neonatal care. Her 18-day-old child is now safely receiving treatment under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, a family member confirmed.

These cases reflect a growing trend. Since the launch of Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, more families across Punjab are bringing mothers and newborns to hospitals within the first 72 hours, improving health outcomes and reducing complications that worsen with delay.

The Punjab Government continues to encourage residents to enrol for the Sehat Card at designated centres and through on-ground camps to avail cashless treatment benefits under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna.
