Minister Rao Narbir Singh inspects proposed metro expansion route in Gurugram, gave necessary directions regarding DPR

Chandigarh, January 19

Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister, Rao Narbir Singh directed the GMDA officers to ensure that the proposed metro expansion between Millennium City Center to Railway Station, Sector-22 and Cyber City in Gurugram causes minimal disruption to the public and existing services.

Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh said this while giving necessary directions during an inspection of the proposed metro expansion route with officers of Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) and GMDA. The Minister emphasised on DPR being prepared with a special emphasis on public convenience. 

After inspecting the route, he directed officers to expedite the construction work while ensuring public convenience a priority. He said that the need for a well-planned traffic diversion strategy to ensure smooth traffic flow during construction. 

Rao Narbir Singh directed that during the project essential services, such as the drainage system, electricity, water supply, and sewage, should remain unaffected. If any problems arise the necessary redressal measures should be completed before starting metro construction work .

The minister further directed the GMDA officers that any construction of flyovers or underpasses work should be carried out parallel to the metro construction project. He said that officers should finalise the proposed route alignment within a month and ensure that Gurugram’s drainage system is not affected. 

Notably, Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini held a meeting with officers regarding the project. It was informed in the meeting that the Detailed Project Report for the metro expansion between Millennium City Center to Cyber city has been approved by both the state and central governments. The foundation stone for the project was laid by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi on February 16, 2024, in Rewari. The construction is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2025 as shared in the meeting by the officers.

The metro expansion will cover 28.50 km with 27 stations, including 8 model stations, and one depot. The project will cost Rs. 896.19 crore from the central government and Rs. 4,556.53 crore from the Haryana government. A medium metro will be established under this project and it will operate on standard gauge, besides this, the metro will be based on Communication Based Train Control Signal (CBTC ) and the maximum speed will be 80 km per hour. Initially there will be three coaches in the metro connectivity expandable to six in the future. To ensure the project is completed efficiently, an executive committee and a coordination committee have been formed to resolve any issues that arise during implementation of the project.

Chief Engineer, GMDA, Sh. Rajesh Bansal, XEN, Sh. Vikas Malik and GMRL officers also remained present.

HERC appoints Electricity Ombudsman

Chandigarh, January 19

The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) appointed Engineer Rakesh Kumar Khanna as the Electricity Ombudsman on January 17, aiming for the swift and transparent resolution of consumer complaints. With over 25 years of experience in the power distribution sector, Mr. Khanna regards this role as a significant opportunity to address and resolve consumer issues effectively.

HERC has created a robust three-tier system for redressal of consumer complaints. Under which disputes up to Rs 1 lakh are resolved through 21 CGRFs at the circle level. Disputes of Rs 1–3 lakh are heard in four zonal CGRFs. Disputes of more than Rs 3 lakh are settled by two corporate CGRFs (Panchkula and Gurugram).

Consumers dissatisfied with the decision of CGRF can submit their complaints before the Electricity Ombudsman.

Maharana Pratap is a source of inspiration for all of us – Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Sh Shyam Singh Rana, said that the Haryana Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini, is committed to the upliftment of all sections of society. He said that the state government is focused on carrying out development work impartially, in the true spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.

The Minister made these remarks while addressing the gathering at the Pratibha Samman program, held in Rewari on the occasion of Maharana Pratap’s death anniversary. During the event, Minister paid tribute to Maharana Pratap by offering flowers at his statue.

As part of the Pratibha Samman program, the Minister honoured the youth from various communities who excelled in sports, education, and other fields, presenting them with certificates and mementos.

Minister Rana further said, “Maharana Pratap is a source of inspiration for all of us. Even the highest-ranking military officers adopt his principles and values in their lives. He was a staunch nationalist who fought the Mughals till his last breath. The greatest quality of Maharana Pratap was his unwavering resolve to never accept defeat. His legacy is a beacon of inspiration not just for one community but for all communities. He urged the youth to follow the path shown by Maharana Pratap in their own lives.

Also present at the event were MLA Laxman Singh Yadav, Yoginder Singh Rana, and other dignitaries.

CM LAYS FOUNDATION STONE OF EXPANSION OF THE DAC, MOGA BY CONSTRUCTING THIRD AND FOURTH FLOOR

Moga, January 19:

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday laid the foundation stone of expansion of the District Administrative Complex (DAC) by constructing the third and fourth floor of the building at a cost of Rs 10.31 crore.

The Chief Minister said that it is a red letter day in the history of district as construction of additional two storey of Block B in DAC has commenced today. He said that the DAC building consisting of four blocks viz. A block, B block, C block and D block were constructed in 2004. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that in order to ease the space crunch being faced by various offices and to shift some government offices that are being run from other places, additional two storeys are being constructed.

The Chief Minister said that the project will be completed in around eight months by August this year. He said that total of 48 rooms will be constructed on both the floors and there will be provision of separate toilet blocks for gents and ladies on both the floors. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that new lift with a carrying capacity of 13 persons will be installed in the complex adding that both the floors will have CCTV camera system for safety and security.

The Chief Minister said that this ultra modern building will also be equipped with fire Detection/Emergency evacuation and Public Address system. He also said that a 95 KW Solar Power Generation System will be installed in the building for adequate use of renewable energy. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the previous governments had hardly paid any heed towards such initiatives to serve the people in a better manner.

The Chief Minister said that earlier the reigns of the state were in the wrong hands earlier due to which the state had suffered adversely. However, he said that ever since assuming the charge of office his government has been according top priority to such works of immense public importance. Bhagwant Singh Mann that such buildings are being constructed while keeping in-view the future needs of people.

A Nation Prospers When Its Citizens Are Happy”: Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar

Patiala/Chandigarh, January 19

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, with the leadership and special efforts of Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and the dedicated endeavors of PRTC Chairman Ranjodh Singh Hadana, the salaries of 1148 employees, who have been working continuously for over a year, have been increased by ₹2500 along with an additional 10% hike. 

It is noteworthy that a meeting between the PRTC Contract Workers union under the leadership of Ranjodh Singh Hadana  held with Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar. During the meeting, officials including Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) D.K. Tiwari, MD Bikramjit Singh Shergill, GM Maninderjit Singh Sidhu and other senior officials were present. 

Speaking on the occasion, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar emphasized, “A nation progresses when its citizens are happy.” With this vision, the Punjab government is committed to introducing unique initiatives to enhance the quality of life for its employees. Bhullar stated that the salary increment proposal was presented during the Board of Directors meeting, where it is unanimously approved. Copies of the directive have been issued to seven departments. 

Additionally, a consensus was reached to frame a policy for regularizing employees under service rules and the related file will be sent to the Advocate General of Punjab. A follow-up meeting will be held with senior officials and unions to finalize the policy. 

Minister Bhullar further stated that the primary demands of contract employees, particularly salary uniformity, were discussed in a previous meeting held at the Chief Minister’s office in Chandigarh. The government, under CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, agreed on uniform salaries and assured the resolution of other demands such as adding new buses to the corporation, regularizing contract workers, removing employees from the waiting list for active duties and increasing commissions for advance bookers. 

Chairman Ranjodh Singh Hadana, during his address, highlighted that PRTC has increased wages for drivers by ₹2500 and and this ratio other employees a further 30% increment to according to Punjab Roadways. Employees hired after September 15, 2021, were earlier given only minimum wages. To address this disparity, the Board of Directors has decided to increase their wages by ₹2500 and an additional 10%, applicable only to those continuously working for over a year. This increment in wages will be prospective and no arrears of any kind will be paid.

Prominent members of the PRTC Azad Union, including State General Secretary Manjinder Kumar Babbu Sharma, Patron Gurdhyan Singh Bhanra, Gurpal Singh Sangrur and Khushwinder Singh Budhla, also participated in the meeting.

          People from all walks of life today paid last tributes to the late Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, MLA from Ludhiana West who passed away on Jan 10, during his Bhog and antim ardas at Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha in Model Town Extension locality on Sunday.

          Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora, Hardeep Singh Mundian, Punjab CM’s Wife Dr Gurpreet Kaur and several leaders across party lines remembered Gogi for his lifelong commitment to public service.

          In their address, they added that MLA Gogi was a source of inspiration and motivation for society. They said that presence of people from all walks of life, who have converged here on the Bhog and Antim Ardas of MLA Gogi, reflects how much he was respected by the people in the region.                          

          They added that Gogi was a hardworking, dedicated and committed colleague. They stated that it was a huge personal loss for them and an irreparable loss for the Aam Aadmi party, as Gogi was a committed foot soldier of the party.

CM COINS SLOGAN OF EMPOWERED WOMEN, EMPOWERED SOCIETY

Underlining the crucial role of Women in overall progress and development of the society, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday said that empowerment of women is pivotal for empowering the entire society.

Addressing the Women Empowerment Summit at ISF College, the Chief Minister  complimented the Indian women in general and Punjabi women in particular for making marvelous contributions towards the empowerment of womanhood in the modern society. He said that in today’s society women are playing a decisive role to foster social and cultural cohesiveness thereby bringing awareness amongst mankind across the world. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that women had tremendous potential to usher in an era of prosperity and development across the globe.

The Chief Minister said that today the Indian women have also shared the responsibility to safeguard the international borders of our country. He said that such functions are an appropriate occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to make strenuous efforts for raising the status of women and ensuring them their rightful place in the Society. Emphasizing the need to percolate the policies and programs pertaining to the welfare and empowerment of the women, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it can be duly done through the voluntary participation of social and non-government organizations.

The Chief Minister said that this could play a pivotal role in bringing revolutionary transformation in the status of women in general and girl child in particular about the socio-economic awakening in the society. Lauding the MNC Grant Thornton for transforming the lives of women by supplementing their income, he assured fulsome support and cooperation to them. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is heartening that 10000 Women beneficiaries who are members of these companies benefitted through various activities.

 The Chief Minister said that after the intervention of the company income of women and households increased by an average of 40%  through various initiatives. He also lauded the practice of the company into Capacity building of about 25 women members of FPCs into Drone Pilots adding that the single point motive is to give fillip to women empowerment by supplementing their income. Laying thrust on the all-round development of the girls by equipping them with quality education, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that given an opportunity the girls could do any stupendous task and easily achieve their target.

The Chief Minister said that due to this the need of hour was to provide them more and more opportunities to showcase their ability adding that the state government was not leaving any stone unturned for this noble cause. Bhagwant Singh Mann also praised women entrepreneurs for their valuable contributions to the state’s economic growth. He said that with their hard work, dedication and commitment the women of state are becoming an integral part of the social economic growth of the state.  

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the significant impact of women on the progress of Punjab and prosperity of its people. He highlighted the state government’s initiatives to support women entrepreneurs to make them an equal partner in the progress of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated his government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and resources to thrive.

The Chief Minister said that by promoting women entrepreneurship, the state government aims to foster economic growth, social development and a brighter future for Punjab. He said that people of the state have bestowed a huge responsibility on the state government by giving a whopping mandate to them. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is the bounden duty of the state government to work hard for the well being of the people and progress of the state.

Citing his own mother’s influence and the phrase “Word of Mother” that renowned scientists couldn’t define, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he was impressed by the products created by women at the function and emphasized the need for a platform to sell these products globally. He shared his vision of showcasing Phulkari and other Punjabi products worldwide, inspiring women to become entrepreneurs.

The Chief Minister noted that China’s women play a significant role in the country’s world-class products, contributing to its economic power. He said that likewise, given a chance, the Punjabi women can also carve a niche for themselves by producing these world class projects. Giving an example, he said that the Punjab government has provided sewing machines to women and placed an order of school uniforms from them.

The Chief Minister said that currently, 25 private schools and the Punjab Police uniforms are being prepared by these women. He also visited the FPC stalls of women including that of Cold-Pressed Mustard Oil, Basmati Rice, Honey, Desi Ghee Atta Biscuits, Pickles, Drone Technology and Handcrafted Terracotta Art. Bhagwant Singh Mann envisioned that these FPCs will act as a catalyst for empowering the women in coming times.

The Chief Minister said that it is the need of hour to restore the pristine glory of the state and make Punjab a frontrunner state in the country.  Bhagwant Singh Mann said by the God’s grace his government is leaving no stone unturned to come up to the expectations of people and top priority is being accorded by the government to implement pro-people and development oriented policies. He said that health, education, power, water and infrastructure sectors are the top five priorities of his government and no stone is being left unturned for it.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to provide ample opportunities to the youth to excel in life and so far around 50,000 government jobs have been provided to them. He said that further new avenues will be opened for youth to ensure that they become an active partner in socio-economic growth of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him that till date all these youth have been selected for these posts purely on the basis of merit.

Taking a a dig at the Akali leaders, the Chief Minister said that though it will be unfair to comment on those who attend Gurudwara functions with broken legs as they are paying for their misdeeds. He said that mistakes can be forgiven but the Akalis have committed sins which are unpardonable. Bhagwant Singh Mann accused Sukhbir Singh Badal of hiding facts and running away from the truth by asserting that he tendered an apology before Akal Takht for sins he never committed.

Earlier, Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian praised the Chief Minister for taking on several important projects for women empowerment.
