PUNJAB POLICE ARREST ASSOCIATE OF CANADA-BASED TERRORIST LAKHBIR LANDA, HIS THREE AIDES FROM JALANDHAR

  As part of the ongoing drive against anti-social elements launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police arrested an associate of Canada-based terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa and his three aides after recovering four pistols along with ammunition from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Friday.          The arrested key accused has been identified as Vijay Kumar alias Toti of village Bhikha Nangal in Kartarpur, Jalandhar, while, his three aides have been identified as Amardeep Singh alias Patwari, Sooraj Singh and Rahul Lahoch, all residents of Jalandhar. Whereas, all the accused persons are History-sheeters, the main accused Vijay alias Toti has been facing as many as 18 criminal cases pertaining to drugs, illegal weapons, kidnapping and extortion.          DGP Gaurav Yadav said that acting on a reliable input that accused Vijay along with his gang members were hatching a conspiracy to commit crime in Kartarpur area, Police teams from Jalandhar Rural promptly conducted special naka near Drain in Durgi area of Jalandhar and successfully arrested all the four accused persons, who were travelling on two motorcycles.          He said that the Police impounded both the motorcycles and have recovered four pistols including two .32 bore country-made pistols along with 10 live cartridges, one 9 mm country-made pistol along with two live cartridges and one .12 bore country made pistol along with one live cartridge from their possession.          Divulging more details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar Rural said that two of the arrested accused persons were also wanted by Kapurthala Police in kidnapping case, wherein they had abducted a resident of Gaji Gadana village in Kapurthala district and sought Rs 3 crore as ransom for his release. The case FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Dhilwan in Kapurthala.          Meanwhile, a fresh case FIR no. 16 has been registered under sections 379-B, 386, 392 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Kartarpur.

Trials of Punjab teams for All India Services Kabaddi Tournament on 13th February

          Central Civil Services Cultural and Board are organizing the All India Services Kabaddi (Men & Women) tournament from 20th February to 24th February 2023 at New Multipurpose Hall, Dehradun.

          Trial for the selection of Punjab Kabaddi (Men and Women) teams for this tournament will be held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana on February 13, 2023, at 10 am.

          The spokesman of the sports department further informed that in these trials security services personnel/para-security organizations/central police organizations/police/RPF/CISF/BSF/ITBP and NSG etc., autonomous parties/undertakings/public sector Banks including central ministry run banks, excluding casual/daily workers, temporary office workers, newly recruited employees who have been in regular services for less than 6 months, Government employees (regular), government officials (regular) of different departments can participate only after receiving NoC from their departments.

          The cost of travel, accommodation and food in this tournament will be paid by the player personally.

Special camp to link voter card with Aadhaar card on February 12

 Special camps are being held on February 12 at SAS Nagar to link voter card with Aadhaar card. Giving this information, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar, Mrs. Ashika Jain has appealed to voters to link their voter cards with Aadhaar card. In this regard, special camps are being organized as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India. These special camps will be organized on February 12, 2023 at all the polling stations.

Mrs. Jain said that, during the special camps BLOs will be present at their respective polling stations and collect Form 6B to link the Aadhaar card with the voter card. Apart from this, the District Election Officer has appealed to the voters to give full support to the BLO in this campaign so that the Aadhaar card of all the voters of the district can be linked with the voter card. Voters themselves can fill form no.6 on nvsp.in or Voterhelpline App to link their voter card with Aadhaar card. The purpose of this is to provide better electoral services to voters in future.

E-tendering system will continue for transparency in rural development

The e-tendering system started by the Haryana government with the aim of expediting development works in villages and ensuring transparency will continue. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has refused to stay on the plea filed by some Gram Panchayats against the e-tendering system. The High Court accepted that the system started by the state government is a significant and positive step to bring transparency.

Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, special emphasis is being laid on the development of villages. The Chief Minister has decentralized the powers of the Panchayati Raj Institutions by giving them more autonomy.

“Now Panchayati Raj Institutions can get small or big works done from their funds and grant-in-aid, whatever the amount may be. The development works of more than Rs 2 lakh will be done through e-tender, which will not only expedite the works but also ensure transparency. With this, the villagers will also get information about the development works,” he said.

Panchayati Raj institutions received budget of Rs 1100 crore for development works

The spokesperson said that in the last quarter of this financial year, a budget of Rs 1,100 crore has been released by the Chief Minister to the Panchayati Raj Institutions for development works in the villages. Out of this, 850 crore has been given only to the panchayats. Development works have also been started by the new panchayats after passing resolutions, he added.

Janta Darbar of Home Minister postponed due to state executive meeting

Janta Darbar of Home Minister, Sh. Anil Vij has been postponed due to the state executive meeting on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Notably, henceforth, the Home Minister will redress the public grievances of the state on second and fourth Saturday of every month. Similarly, the grievances of the people of Ambala Cantt assembly constituency will now be redressed on Wednesday at PWD Rest House in Ambala Cantt. 

It is worth mentioning that the Janta Darbar of Home Minister, Sh. Anil Vij is very popular in Haryana where quick action is initiated after listening to the grievances of the public.

India playing active role in social and economic upliftment: President Droupadi Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu said that India, while presiding over the G-20, is playing an active role in social and economic upliftment. With the inclusion of values, India’s identity is being established globally. The country is constantly changing and today with economic prosperity, India is becoming a leader with 5th position in the world.

        The President was addressing the National Convention organized on the theme ‘Women as Foundation of Value Based Society’ at Brahma Kumaris Om Shanti Retreat Centre in Gurugram’s Bahora Kalan on Thursday. The President inaugurated the seminar by lighting the lamp. On her arrival here, the President was jointly welcomed by Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya and Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal. The President also visited the Spiritual Art Gallery and 2D Rangoli at the Om Shanti Retreat Centre premises.

        Addressing the seminar, President Smt. Droupadi Murmu said, “While the government is fulfilling its responsibility for women empowerment in the society, every person should admire it and take inspiration from their working style. Today, India is establishing its dominance globally on the strength of its values.”

        She said that by taking steps towards social development with spiritual thinking, a value-based society is being built. The President appreciated the work being done by the Brahma Kumaris Divine Institute in the interest of the society and the role being played in spreading the message of spiritual thinking to the masses.

President calls upon women to play important role in bringing change in society

        Smt. Droupadi Murmu said that today women are performing better than men in every field. “Be it science, arts, education, engineering or political field, women have raised their flags of success at every level,” she added.

        The President said that mother is the first mentor and teacher for children, who makes them cultured. “Similarly, we have given the status of mother to the earth, but in the modern era; the environment is being harmed, for which everyone needs to be aware. Women can play an important role in this initiative,” she said.

Important role of women in inculcation of moral values: Governor

        Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya said that today women have an important role in establishing and improving moral values in the society. “In our scriptures, it has been said that where women are respected, gods reside there. Sacrifice, penance, restraint and dedication of mothers and sisters in the society is incomparable,” he added.

        He said that today women need to be educated and self-reliant. “The centre and the state government are making efforts in this direction. As a result of this, today the daughters of the country are holding important positions ranging from teachers, doctors to the army,” said Sh. Dattatraya.

        Referring to India’s first woman Rafale fighter jet pilot Shivangi Singh, the Governor said that her achievement has shown a new path of success to other daughters of India as well. Citing the great culture of the country, he said that the world has learned the lesson of culture and civilization from India only.

Haryana has emerged as an economic, sports powerhouse, a hub of manufacturing activity, says Khattar

Haryana has emerged as an economic and sports powerhouse, a hub of manufacturing activity, and a cynosure of all investing eyes, both domestic and foreign.  Not only this, Haryana has also made rapid strides to occupy a place on the global map.

        This was stated by Haryana Chief Minister while delivering the keynote during a Summit on G-20 Presidency organised by IIM, Rohtak at Gurugram district today. Chairman, National Green Tribunal, Sh. Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, Member of Parliament, Dr. Satyapal Singh, Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal, Director, IIM, Rohtak, Dr.  Dheeraj Sharma and other dignitaries also remained present on this occasion.

        Addressing the gathering, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the theme of India’s G-20 presidency is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which means “One Earth, One Family, One Future”, outlined by the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi aims to induce inclusive collaboration among developed and emerging nations and recognize the significance and fruitfulness of collective and united action.

        The Chief Minister said that India has the potential to convert challenges into opportunities. G-20 presidency gives India an unprecedented opportunity to prove its credentials as a global force, establish its credibility in resolving global economic issues, and hoist on the world our traditional value system which has survived many onslaughts, and stood the test of time, he added.

“I am sure India’s G-20 Presidency will usher in a new global order marked by amity and brotherhood,” shared Sh. Manohar Lal.

Haryana contributes 3.87 per cent to the country’s GDP

The Chief Minister highlighted that ranking 21st in terms of area and 18th in terms of population; Haryana contributes 3.87 per cent to the country’s GDP and accounts for 4 percent of its exports. It is the 7th largest merchandise exporter in the country, exporting such items as basmati rice, auto and auto components, manmade fibres, carpets, electric machinery etc.

        Furthermore, Haryana occupies the high bench of leading states on the parameters of economic development. The state figures in the top achievers category in the Ease of Doing Business ranking, while in the Innovation Index of NITI Aayog, it is among the top 3 states of the country. We rank 3rd in the Export Preparedness Index,” shared Sh. Manohar Lal. 

We are making dedicated efforts to realize Prime Minister’s $5 trillion economic dream

        The Chief Minister said that more than half of Haryana falls in the National Capital Region which we are developing as a logistics hub. This offers immense possibilities of investment. We are taking forward the vision of the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, to make India a $5 trillion economy, he added.

        He said that emphasis is laid on building quality infrastructure, ensuring ease of doing business, and creating an industry-friendly environment.

Gignow’s centre of excellence will prove to be a boon for the farmers of South Haryana

Farmers of South Haryana will grow tomatoes and cucumbers on the ‘Bel’ (Vine), these plants are being prepared in the semi-arid Indo-Israeli Horticulture Centre of Excellence established at village Gignow in Bhiwani district.

        Based on the latest technology of this centre, 16-17 structures have been made, where the plants will not be affected by severe cold and heat stroke. Here 35 to 40 lakh saplings will be prepared simultaneously. It also has a structure based on German technology which will automatically open according to the need of air and water to the plant. This centre of excellence will not only show the way to the farmers of Loharu region of Bhiwani district but also of the entire South Haryana, but will also become a guide for the farmers of the entire state.

        It is worth mentioning that a centre of excellence for semi-arid horticulture has been set up in village Gignow of Loharu region, which was inaugurated about two weeks back on January 22, 2023. This Centre of Excellence, built in about 50 acres, has cost more than Rs. 12 crores.

        17 types of different structures have been made here, in which there is a grafting structure, which will give favourable temperatures to the plant in both winter and summer. Saplings of pomegranate, papaya and vegetables will be prepared here. Similarly, temperature and humidity are controlled in hi-tech greenhouse. Here a naturally ventilated polyhouse has been built, which is based on German technology. It opens automatically according to the need of sunlight and air required for the plant to nurture. This is the only net house in Haryana, which has been installed in Gignow village. Similarly, two Poly Net houses have been built here. Polythene protects from rain and net from insects, red-yellow and green capsicum and vine tomato and cucumber plants will be prepared in it. Two net houses have been built here, in which air is properly regulated. Concrete beds have been made in it, which will be prepared with a drip irrigation system through an aero dripper for fruit plants like Kinnow, Malta, Lemon, Pomegranate, Guava, Fig, Dragon fruit etc.

        A block is also being made in this centre of excellence, in which big plants of Kinnu-Malta etc. will be prepared through innovative techniques. A walk-in tunnel has been made here, this structure is a tunnel type structure, in which vine tomatoes, cucumbers, all three types of capsicum and strawberries will be cultivated. This tunnel will provide protection to the plant in extreme cold and heat. Drip irrigation has been installed in all these structures. A vermicomposting unit was also set up here, in which a model of natural farming will be prepared on a part of this centre by preparing vermicompost. A shed has been prepared for beekeeping.

        In this hi-tech green house, 30 to 40 lakhs vegetable plants are being prepared. Here, date palm, pomegranate, guava, almond, citrus, jujube, pomegranate, dragon fruit and malta plants are being planted in 20 acres. Irrigation in vegetables and fruits has been arranged through micro-irrigation method, from where two tanks of 62 lakh liters each have been made for agriculture-horticulture on the method of micro-irrigation to the farmers. 

Goal is to enhance the state’s horticultural area by 17 lakh acres by 2030 – Agriculture Minister J P Dalal

        Haryana Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister, Sh. J.P. Dalal said that the Centre of Excellence for Horticulture is being built in village Gignow. He added that it will prove to be a milestone in the prosperity of farmers. The budget for horticulture has been increased manifold in the state. Now the day is not far when the products of the farmers of Haryana will be exported to America and other countries. Goal is to enhance the state’s horticultural area by 17 lakh acres by 2030, he added.

Have the pre-eminent investment policies, says CM as he invites SCO to invest in Haryana

Haryana Chief Minister while terming the State as a pre-eminent Investment destination invited the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to invest in the State.

        “Since 2019, we have received an investment of US $ 5.22 billion. Besides this, the State’s export has also increased to Rs 2.17 lakh crore, informed, Sh. Manohar Lal during the meeting with the SCO members at Surajkund, Faridabad.

        He assured the member countries for full cooperation from the State Government in setting up their business ventures in Haryana. Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. D. S. Dhesi, Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Dr. Amit Agrawal and representatives of various countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other dignitaries also remained present during the meeting. 

SCO’s participation in the Surajkund International Crafts Mela will play a key role in strengthening global economies

        The Chief Minister said that the participation of the SCO in the Surajkund International Crafts Mela will work to bring the countries onto the global stage and strengthen their economies.

        “The Surajkund International Crafts Mela has been organized here since 1987. It has made a mark on the world map. Today Haryana is among the rapidly growing states. The participation of various countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in this Mela is very pivotal as artists of every country are proudly displaying the unique colours of their culture and are showcasing the best of its heritage in the form of handicrafts and performing arts,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

        “Besides, B2B (Business to Business), B2C (Business to Customer), and G2G (Government to Government) connections, Haryana believes doing business with H2H, means Heart to Heart connection,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

We are among the leading states on the parameters of economic development

        The Chief Minister informed that Haryana is also among the leading states on the parameters of economic development. The offices of 400 Fortune companies of the world are set up in Gurugram, the Economic Capital of the state. 

“Haryana is a leading software exporter of the country. It ranks second in the country and first in North India in terms of providing logistic facilities to industries. More than half of the State’s area comes in NCR. We are developing it as a logistic hub to increase industry and trade in this region,” informed Sh. Manohar Lal.

Haryana is among the top achievers category in the State Ease of Doing Business ranking

        The Chief Minister said that Haryana is a leader in the manufacturing of many products like cars, two-wheelers, tractors, scientific instruments, footwear etc. About 50 percent of the country’s four-wheelers are manufactured in Haryana, he added.

        “Today more than 1,000 industrial units are established in the state. These include Siemens, Suzuki, GE, Honda, Smithkline Beecham, JCB, Hollister, Harvel, Osram, Mitsubishi, IBM, Yokohama, Alcatel, POSCO, LG, Perfetti, Johnson Matthey, Becton Dickinson, Caparo and Harley Davidson. The state has excellent air, rail and road connectivity,” informed Sh. Manohar Lal.

        He said that Haryana is swiftly taking forward the Prime Minister’s vision of making India a $5 trillion economy by 2024. For this, emphasis is being laid on enabling policies, availability of quality infrastructure and ease of doing business, industry-friendly environment and incentives.

        “Haryana Enterprises and Employment Policy-2020 have been formulated specially to promote industries. We have also formulated a new policy to promote the manufacturing of electric vehicles in the state. Maruti Suzuki is setting up a third plant on 800 acres at IMT Kharkhoda, which will manufacture electric vehicles,” informed Sh. Manohar Lal. 

Dedicated efforts are being made to promote Tourism

        The Chief Minister said that Haryana also has immense possibilities for tourism. In order to develop the state as a tourism hub, a Safari Park is being developed in Gurugram and Nuh in the Aravalli Mountain range. This will be the biggest project in the world. The world’s largest safari park will be set up in an area of 10,000 acres in Gurugram and Nuh districts shared Sh. Manohar Lal.

Secretary, Foreign Affairs, Government of India, Sh. Sanjay Verma said that Haryana is the fastest-growing state in the country today. 

“Haryana has made tremendous progress in all fields in the recent past,” he added.

        Praising the Surajkund Mela, he said that when he was a student, he had visited this Mela. At that time it gave a glimpse of a small garden party, but today after 36 years, he is happy to see that this Mela has become of international level.

He said that this Mela is not only the pride of Haryana but also of the entire India. 

He called upon the members of SCO nations to invest in India.

 According to the Managing Director, Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, the Corporation has thrown open these properties to showcase the millet dishes. This will not only help in popularising the millet dishes; but also give an opportunity to the residents to visit these places with their families on weekends to relish millet cuisines. The buffet rates have been kept quite subsidized, as our main aim is to promote millet in the City Beautiful.

 The Managing Director informed that adequate arrangements have been made to popularise the millet Food Festivals amongst the food lovers.
