Punjab to send contingents to Khelo India Youth Games, trials for Basketball and Kho Kho on December 16

Trials for the selection of Punjab State teams for Basketball and Kho-Kho events of the Khelo India Youth Games will be held on December 16, 2022.

Disclosing this, an official spokesperson of the department said, Khelo India youth games are scheduled from January 31 to February 11, 2023 in Madhya Pradesh.

          The spokesperson further said that the trials for the selection of the Basketball boys and girls team will be held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana on December 16, 2022 at 10:00 AM.

          Similarly, the trials for the Kho-Kho girl’s team will be held at the Polo Ground, Patiala on December 16, 2022 at 10:00 AM.

          Aspiring players born on or after 1st January 2004, can participate in selection trials by reaching the designated time and place.

PANCHAYATI LANDS: PUNJAB GOVERNMENT TO START SECOND PHASE OF DRIVE AGAINST ILLEGAL POSSESSIONS: KULDEEP SINGH DHALIWAL

The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will initiate second phase of drive against illegal possession from panchayati lands to get these lands free. Disclosing this here today Rural Development & Panchayats and Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the State Government had got more than 10,000 acres of land in its first phase and now the second phase would be started shortly.While addressing a weekly program ‘Janta Darbar’ in Vikas Bhawan here, the Minister said that the illegal possessions from panchayati lands would be removed at all cost and directions had already been issued in this regard. He also instructed the officials of Rural Development & Panchayats, Agriculture and NRI Affairs departments to ensure that the complaints of people should be resolved promptly. Speaking about the nature of the complaints, the Minister pointed out that mostly complaints were related with the Panchayati lands and on the spot proceedings were being initiated to address these without any delay.The Minister also asked the officials and people of the state to join hands with the State Government in wiping out the menace of corruption. He said that none would be spared in case found involved in the corrupt practices.Urging people to use facebook for registering complaints, if any, the Minister said that he was holding a weekly Janta Darbar program at Vikas Bhawan on every Tuesday to hear the plaints of people besides in Ajnala on every Saturday. He said that if anyone is unable to visit these spots, he/she could use facebook to lodge their complaint.  He also reiterated that the Punjab Government was committed to resolve issues pertaining to NRIs in a prompt and satisfactory manner.The State Government is all set to organize ‘NRI Punjabian Naal Milni’ programs at five locations including Jalandhar, SAS Nagar, Ludhiana, Moga and Amritsar respectively on December 16, 19, 23, 26 and 30, where issues of NRIs would be heard by the competent authorities to get them resolves without any delay. 

Expedite the Works and Complete the Projects in given Timeline – Adviser on Chandigarh Master Plan Meet

A meeting regarding the implementation of Chandigarh Master plan was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator. The top-notch officers of the Chandigarh Administration comprising Sh. Nitin Yadav, Home Secretary, Sh. Vijay N Zade, Finance Secretary, Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Smt. Anindita Mitra, Commissioner Municipal Corporation and SSP Chandigarh, Smt. Manisha Chaudhary. 

  The meeting highlighted various development projects of Chandigarh including heritage conservation of Capitol Complex, schools & colleges etc, upgradation of social infrastructure, physical infrastructure, development of villages, regional issues with neighbouring states. The Adviser took the progress report of the planned upcoming projects from all the major departments of the Chandigarh Administration.

  Plans of upgrading the Government houses into stay homes to promote tourism in the city has also been proposed. With an aim to make Chandigarh a Cultural hub, various cultural projects like the upgradation of Beant Singh Memorial and creating of new exhibition centre was also taken up by the officials. The Administrator also announced the construction of ten new schools in the city to strengthen the education framework in the city. The work on four schools would be taken up during this financial year and the construction of other schools would be taken up gradually.

  To strengthen the health infrastructure in the city, the Adviser has directed the concerned authorities to expedite the work of creation and upgrading dispensaries into the health and wellness centres, and also start the work on creation of Advanced Centre of Infectious Diseases and Regional Trauma centre at GMCH 32. 

  Planning and Development of various pockets of Manimajra were also discussed. Adviser stressed the need to take immediate action for development of longitudinal green belts and cycle tracks in the city. Planning Department was directed to submit action plan within a week.  

  The final agreement for Chandigarh 24×7 water supply project will be signed between the Municipal Corporation and French Government’s Agence Francaise de Development (AFD)on December 16 which is the most awaited project of the Corporation. The Commissioner Municipal Corporation also apprised the committee about the upgrading all the STP’s by March 2023. Sh. Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator directed the officials to expedite all the development works in a time bound manner and submit the action taken report in the next meeting.

  Secretary Education, Secretary Industries, Secretary Culture, Chief Conservator of Forest, Chief Architect, Chief Engineer were also present in the meeting.

Kultar Singh Sandhwan takes new initiative to discuss various issues to strengthen democracy and ensure accountability

By Providing the combined platform to the Ministers, MLAs, officials and industrialists to find out the various problems, the Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan has taken a new initiative to strengthen democracy and ensure accountability. At the same time, he has also given instructions to take the matter of absentee officers  from the today’s meeting to the Privileges Committee.

Addressing a meeting with industrialists in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha here today S. Sandhwan said that his aim is to strengthen democratic activities in the state with the active participation of all the stake holders. He said that only the MLAs can participate in the debate in the Vidhan Sabha and his aim is to sensitize the MLAs toward various problems so they can raise them seriously and in good manner in the Vidhan Sabha. S. Sandhwan said that discussion is very important for solving various issues. The suggestions of people, experts and officials associated with different sectors are the basic ingredients for formulating a effective  policy for any sector. That is why mutual dialogue plays an important role in finding solutions to problems and formulating excellent policies. He said that he will continue to organize discussions on various problems so that the problems faced by the state can be solved.

 Expressing her views on this occasion, Investment Promotion Minister Anmol Gagan Mann appreciated the initiative taken. MANN GOVT PUTS BRAKES ON BADAL BUSES; NOW, ONLY STATE BUSES ALLOWED TO ENTER IN CHANDIGARH: LALJIT SINGH BHULLAR

      Taking another important decision to root out the private bus mafia from the state, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government has ended the monopoly of private buses owned by Badal family and other private bus mafia on the inter-state routes.          Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, while confirming the development, informed that the ‘Punjab Transport Scheme-2018’, which was formulated by the Congress Government to give benefits to Badal family and other private bus mafia, has been amended. Under this scheme, the entry of private Volvo buses into Chandigarh was made intact, which led to the sheer loot of the state exchequer at a large scale.          “The Badal family during its government’s two tenures from 2007 to 2017, created various schemes to fulfill their personal interests, in which the Congress government also helped the Badals in running their transport  businesses smoothly, including one of inter-state movement of their AC buses to Chandigarh”, said Laljit Singh Bhullar.          The Transport Minister said, “Punjab Transport Scheme-2018” has been amended to “Punjab Transport (Amendment) Scheme-2022”. With the amendment of Serial No: B in Clause No-3 of the scheme, now only state transport undertaking buses can enter in Chandigarh with their 100% share. The insertion titled with “Inter-State Route” in the Gazette notification reads, “With the seating capacity of 39 or more, with the further condition that air-conditioned stage carriages shall be run only by the State Transport Undertakings only out of their overall share in each category.”          Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, while training guns at Badal family for plundering the state exchequer for their personal gain and providing benefits illegitimately to their associates by forming Schemes arbitrarily,  asserted that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led government will not allow to fulfill the vested interests of Badals and their powerful associates at the sake of state exchequer. 

Educational parks to be established in Government Schools: Harjot Singh Bains

The Punjab government has decided to establish educational parks in government schools of the state in consonance with the it’s commitment to recuperate the school education system from roots.

          Dwelling the details here on Tuesday, School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that under this initiative of the government, educational parks are being built in school campuses to bolster the creativity of students studying in government schools, in which discussion forums and Idea Sharing Points will be set up to hone the skills of the students.

          Mr. Bains informed that a grant of Rs. 11.79 crore has already been issued to government primary, middle, high and senior secondary schools to start the project with missionary zeal. He divulged in detail that a grant of Rs 7.39 crore has been issued to 7392 government primary & middle schools and a grant of Rs 4.49 crore to 3783 high and senior secondary schools to realise the project on ground in letter and spirit.

          Talking about the project in comprehensive manner, the Cabinet Minister said that geographical, scientific and mathematical perspective of the students will increase through these educational parks. The models developed in these educational parks will be purely based on the curriculum and students will be able to easily learn the principles of various educational methods through their first hand activities. An idea box also be kept at one place in these educational parks in which students will collect and note down their ideas after discussing on the idea forum.

Recruitment of new patwaris will provide timely services to people: Jimpa

          Punjab Revenue Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa has said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, there has been a massive transformation in the functioning of the revenue department to ensure timely services to the common people. During the previous governments, the general public was very dissatisfied with the working methods of the revenue department, but since Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took over the reins of the state, people’s work is being done without recommendation and without bribes.

          Jimpa said that there was a shortage of patwaris in the revenue department for a long time due to which work got affected and people faced nuisance. But recently, the Punjab Cabinet has given approval to fill 710 new posts of Patwaris. Even before this, the recruitment of 1090 Patwaris has been completed. He said that with this, maintenance of old records will be done in a more smooth and transparent manners. Apart from this, various services related to the revenue department will be provided to the common people on time.

          Jimpa said that many more initiatives have been taken by the Punjab government to revamp the revenue department, which has benefited the common people. He said that the facility of e-stamp paper has been started to simplify the purchase of stamp papers. Under this, stamp papers of all prices are being issued. Likewise, a website www.eservices.punjab.gov.in has been launched to make the process of Khangi Taksim effective.

          The revenue minister said that 7520 village Cadastral maps and 46861 Mussavi Sheets of Punjab have been digitized. He said that efforts are on to make the services of the revenue department more people-friendly and simple so that more people can avail government services without any hassle.

Amount worth Rs. 16161.31 crore distributed to 31736 beneficiaries under Ashirwad scheme: Dr. Baljit Kaur

Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has distributed Rs. 16161.31 crore of amount to 19646 beneficiaries of scheduled castes and 12090 beneficiaries of backward classes and economically weaker sections under the Ashirwad scheme during current financial year.Social justice, Empowerment & Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under the Ashirwad scheme, financial assistance of up to Rs. 51,000 is given by the State Government for the marriage of girls belonging to low-income families in the state.           Dr. Baljit Kaur pointed out that in order to avail the Ashirwad scheme, the applicant should be a permanent resident of Punjab state, family should fall in BPL category, the applicant should belong to Scheduled Caste, Backward Classes and other economically weaker families and all the family members’ annual income from all sources is less than Rs. 32,790. Two daughters of such a family are eligible to avail the benefit of this scheme.Punjab Government is committed to the welfare of people of scheduled castes, backward classes and economically weaker sections.The Minister added that the financial assistance is credited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, which are being linked with Aadhaar. 

Vidhan Sabha Speaker condoles sad demise of Veteran leader Brahmpura

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan has expressed profound grief over the sad demise of veteran political leader and former cabinet minister  Ranjit Singh Brahmpura.

S. Sandhwan said that Brahmpura played an important role in politics of Punjab for a long time and served the people . He extend his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, relatives and friends of the deceased, S. Sandhwan prayed to the Almighty to give them strength to bear this irreparable loss and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

GOVERNMENT HAS DECIDED TO SPEND APPROXIMATELY RS 7.73 CRORE ON DEVELOPMENT WORKS FOR THE BEAUTIFICATION OF AMRITSAR CITY: DR. INDERBIR SINGH NIJJAR

    Local Government Minister, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that Punjab government has decided to spend approximately approximately Rs 7.73 crores on development works for the beautification of Amritsar city.          Minister for Local Government, Dr.Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is fully committed to provide basic facilities and clean environment to the people of the state. Under this series, development works are being conducted across the state.          Issuing a press statement, Dr.Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that the work of painting and general renovation (including lights) of Golden Gate Amritsar and construction of 12 feet fountains with colorful lights complete with mosaic tiles will be done at various places of Amritsar city .          Cabinet Minister further said that apart from this, B/S Khalsa College and GNDU Roadside levelling dressing and planting works will be done, bridges will be beautified by painting with cement based paint. Repair and beautification of green belt will also be done at District Shopping Center Amritsar, he said.          He said that similarly the repair and varnishing work of Sham Singh Atariwala memorial gate will be done. He also said that the work of planting saplings, ornamental plants and creepers etc. will also be done on various roads leading to the city, relaying of interlocking tiles on roads in 97 acres, painting of the central verge and repairing the footpath in kabir park under extension scheme will be done. He said that government has decided to carried out many other development works in the city of Amritsar.          Cabinet Minister further said that the dream of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is to provide basic facilities and a clean environment to the residents of the state. State government is making all possible efforts to fulfill this dream.          Minister has directed the officials of the department to follow the rules/ regulations of the government and ensure transparency and quality in the work of the department.
