CM ANNOUNCES TO EXPAND AMBIT OF MLF TO DISTRICT AND UNIVERSITY LEVEL

IEP Chandigarh, December 4

          Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday announced to expand the ambit of Military Literature Festival (MLF) by hosting it at district and University level across the state.

          The Chief Minister, while chairing the felicitation ceremony of the Military Literature Festival here today, congratulated the organizing committee for holding this mega event every year. He said that in the future, the state government will hold this festival at district and university level to apprise the youth about the rich legacy of our Armed Forces, and rekindle the motivating spirit for joining the Army in them. Bhagwant Mann said that this is the need of hour to imbibe a feeling of nationalism and patriotism amongst youth thereby inspiring them to join the Armed forces.

          Lauding the pivotal role of Armed forces in making India the biggest and successful democracy of the world, the Chief Minister said that democracy had thrived in India successfully because the Armed forces have played a key role in safeguarding its ethos. He said that apart from safeguarding the borders of the country the Armed forces have also upheld the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the nation. Bhagwant Mann said that due to this only India has today emerged as the most successful democracy across the globe.

          Citing the example of Pakistan, the Chief Minister said that democracy has never survived there as the Army has toppled the elected governments in the neighboring country a number of times. However, he said that on the contrary in India democracy has been a successful phenomenon due to the active role of the Armed forces. Bhagwant Mann said that due to this only a common man like him has today became Chief Minister of the state.

          The Chief Minister also hailed the Indian Army for its dedication, commitment and patriotism. Likewise, he said that bravery and heroism of the Indian army finds no parallel in the world. Bhagwant Mann said that the Indian armed forces have scripted several inspirational stories with their valour.

          The Chief Minister further said that every countrymen is indebted to Indian armed forces for their unparalleled contribution towards service of nation. He said that when each one of us is sleeping soundly with our families the Armed forces are protecting our borders by braving scorching heat and freezing cold weather conditions. Bhagwant Mann said that as a humble tribute to the brave soldiers who had laid their lives for safeguarding borders of the country and maintaining law and order, the state government has enhanced honorarium given to the families of martyred soldiers to Rs. 1 Crore.

          The Chief Minister said that this was a humble initiative on part of the state government to pay tribute to these valiant  soldiers who attain martyrdom during line of duty. Bhagwant Mann said that this step is aimed at giving huge relief to the distressed family of the martyr soldier. He further said that the state government is duty bound to help the families of the soldiers who sacrifice their life at the altar of the motherland.

          The Chief Minister also recalled his strong ties with the Army veterans and armed forces. He said that one of his uncles (Mama ji) had served in the Indian army. Likewise, Bhagwant Mann also said that he was fortunate to have a decorated war veteran officer as his neighbour in SAS Nagar (Mohali).

          On the occasion the Chief Minister also released books and felicitated eminent persons who had participated in the fest.

59 examined in health camp at Zirakpur

As many as 59 people were examined during an Ivy Hospital, Mohali free multi-specialty health check-up camp at Green Valley Heights Kishanpura, Zirakpur today. The camp was organized in association with Inner Wheel where a team of Ivy doctors including Dr. Sonal consultant pulmonary medicine and Dr. Manika Saluja Parekh an ENT surgeon consulted people for their chest, ear, nose and throat related health problems.

During camp free BP and RBS tests were also offered.

Giving urban facilities to villages of Punjab, top priority of Mann Government: Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

Providing urban facilities to the villages of Punjab is the priority of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan and the Panch/Sarpanch of the state and the villagers to rise above politics and factionalism to ensure the development of the village. This was expressed by Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal inaugurated a special two-day training program for the elected representatives of the General Assembly and Panchayati Raj at Vikas Bhavan SAS Nagar here today.

Mr. Dhaliwal, while launching the ‘Mera Pind Meri Rooh’ campaign under the General Assembly of the Gram Sabha, said that the villagers and the elected representatives should decide for themselves what they want to develop in their village. He said that the General Assembly is required to be held twice a year during Rabi season (June) and Kharif season (December), in which the Gram Sabha passes the budget estimate of income and expenditure of its Gram Panchayat for the next financial year and the annual plan of the development program for the next financial year. He said that the department is also going to set up a special control room, through which panches/sarpanches will be provided with the outstanding amount and other information through mobile phone on the expenditure of the grant of their village.

Expressing grief, Mr. Dhaliwal said that the previous governments did not understand the importance of the general assembly and left no stone unturned to destroy the village councils. He said that even if the sarpanch is associated with any political party, the Hon’ble government wants to develop the villages. He said that during the last 8 months, the department has freed illegal encroachments on more than 10,000 acres of Panchayat lands and this campaign will continue. He said that the Punjab government will not tolerate corruption at any cost and Special attention is being paid to the amount being spent by the Panchayats.

On this occasion, elected representatives of Panchayati Raj, officials, and employees, employees of line departments, SHG,  two-day training program was also initiated for the members, Anganwadi workers and Asha workers. He said that by dividing the sustainable development goals into 9 thematic areas, emphasis is being placed on the development of villages by the state government.He said that in these 9 themes poverty-free and advanced livelihood village, healthy village, child-friendly village, water-rich village, clean and green village, village with self-sustaining infrastructure, social justice and socially safe village, Well-administered village and unkul village of women etc. are included. He said that two-day training programs will be organized at the block level across the state on different days, in which the sarpanches and panches will be told about their rights, about various schemes for development. He said that during this training program, information will be given in detail about various schemes for the development of villages, with which Sarpanch and Panch will be able to write a new example of development in their villages.

On this occasion, Director Rural Development and Panchayats Department Mr. Gurpreet Singh Khaira, Joint Development Commissioner Mr. Amit Kumar, Joint Director Mr. Sanjeev Garg, Deputy Director Jatinder Singh Brar, SIDR State Resource Person Training  Mr. Gurmel Singh Dhillon, Apart from a large number of Panchs and Sarpanchs were present. Besides, BDPOs of blocks across the state, panchayat secretaries and panches and sarpanches across Punjab were involved through video conferencing.

Three Day visit of External Peer Review Committee Concludes at PEC

The visit of the External Peer Review Committee chaired by Dr Satish Kumar, Chairman, Armaments Research Board, Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, GOI, to the campus of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University,) Chandigarh, concluded today after a hectic schedule of three days. The committee members after multiple interactions and a lot of discussions during the visit prepared and finalised the report on 30th November 2022. The prepared report will be submitted to the Board of Governors for further assessment.The visit started on 28th November 2022 intending to evaluate the academic and administrative functioning and prepare a roadmap for the institute.The visit started with a detailed presentation made by Prof. Baldev Setia, Director-PEC, apprising the committee members of the functioning of PEC, followed by presentations by deans about their respective domains. The presentation was followed by the committee members visiting the Central Facilities, including Computer Centre, Library, Career Development & Guidance Centre, Semiconductor Research Facility, and Central Research Facility.

The second day of the visit started with the members of the committee visiting various departments and labs on the campus in which the head of the departments made interactive presentations about their departments, followed by lab visits and meetings with all the stakeholders, including the faculty members, PEC students, staff members and the PEC alumni.

Solar plant commissioned

IEP Chandigarh, November 30

Yakult Danone India announced the successful commissioning of a solar plant at its manufacturing facility at Rai industrial area near Sonipat today. The solar project is developed by SunSource Energy. The project incorporated innovative engineering to maximize the on-site solar capacity and is a unique combination of rooftop, ground mounted, and carport solar solutions. It will cater to up to 25% of the plant’s energy requirement and is expected to generate approximately 8.8 lakh kWh of clean energy annually. It will offset 810 tonnes of CO2 emission every year.

Haryana Chief Secretary directs to impose Section 144 of CrPC around all HTET examination centres

IEP Chandigarh, November 29

Ensuring fair and cheating free conduct of Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET), Haryana Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioners to impose Section-144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) around all centres in the respective districts to prevent gathering so as to curb cheating in HTET.

Sh. Kaushal gave these directions while presiding over a virtual meeting regarding Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test 2022 with Deputy Commissioners of the state at Chandigarh.

Additional time to visually impaired candidates

Sh. Kaushal said that for the convenience of visually impaired candidates, additional 50 minutes at the rate of 20 minutes per hour will be given to them during the examination. Their O.M.R. sheet will also be sent in a separate envelope by the Centre Superintendent.  Separate sitting arrangements should be ensured for such examinees, he directed.

3,05,717 candidates will appear in 1,046 examination centres set up for HTET

The Chief Secretary was apprised in the meeting that a total of 3,05,717 candidates will appear in HTET to be conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana on December 3 and 04, 2022. 1,046 examination centres have been set up for HTET. It was further apprised that on December 03, 2022 (Saturday) Level-3 (PGT) examination will be conducted in the evening session from 3.00 pm to 5.30 pm, in which 60,794 candidates will appear in 327 examination centres set up in the state. On December 04 (Sunday), 1,49,430 candidates will appear in Level-2 (TGT) examination to be conducted in the morning session from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm in 504 examination centres, while 95,493 candidates will appear in Level-1 (PRT) examination to be conducted in the evening session from 3.00 pm to 5.30 pm in 215 examination centres.

Arrangement of police at treasury offices and examination centres

During the meeting, Sh. Kaushal directed the officers that the trunk of the sealed question paper of the examination will be collected from all district treasury offices and will be sent directly to the examination centres under the custody of two policemen through a joint team under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner or the administrative officer authorized by him. He further directed that adequate police arrangements should be made three hours before the commencement of the examination to prevent external interference at the examination centres and photostat shops around the examination centres will remain closed during the examination. Ensuring smooth conduct of the examination, media entry should be prohibited inside the examination centres, he added.

Ensure frisking, biometric attendance and other mandatory formalities on time

Sh. Kaushal further directed the concerned officers to ensure entry of candidates 2 hours 10 minutes before the commencement of the examination so that they can freely go through the metal detector frisking, biometric attendance and other mandatory formalities at the examination centre well in time. Entry to the examination centre will be closed one hour before the commencement of the examination, he added.

Flying squad arrangement to check cheating and other irregularities

He further said that the inspection arrangements of examination centres have been chalked out. Around 172 flying squads have been appointed to strictly check cheating and other irregularities. Apart from this, full-time observers have also been appointed at each examination centre across the state including an officer of the district administration and an officer/official of the education board as representatives. The admit cards (admit cards) of the eligible candidates for this examination have been issued on the board website www.bseh.org.in.

It was apprised in the meeting that same as last year, a hi-tech control room is being set up at the Board of School Education headquarters, Bhiwani. During the examination, the board will maintain a strict vigil through the hi-tech control room at all the examination centres of the state. Live monitoring of candidates will be done at the entrance and a case will be registered against the candidate found involved in using the unfair means.

Among those present in the meeting include Chairman, Board of School Education, Dr. V.P Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, Sh. Mahavir Singh, Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages, Sh. Amit Kumar Agrawal, Secretary of Board of School Education, Sh. Students should use their knowledge for betterment of the country and society: President

The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu graced the 18th Convocation of National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra as the chief guest today. On the occasion, the President also inaugurated the blockchain technology based degree solutions developed by NIT Kurukshetra and other collaborators for awarding degrees through digital medium and conferred degrees to the students of the year 2020 and 2021 batch through the same medium. Governor of Haryana, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya and Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal were also present on the occasion.

While congratulating the students receiving degrees, President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu said, “I give my best wishes to all the students along with their parents, family members and teachers. The family members and the society have played a significant role in their success and therefore to express their gratitude, the students should pledge to use their knowledge for the betterment of the country and society.”

The President said that she feels special and happy while attending any programme related to education because before starting her public life, she had worked as a teacher in a school. She said that the NIT University is celebrating its diamond jubilee and has received special recognition nationally and internationally.

“More than 40,000 former students of this university had contributed to nation building and had played an important role in raising the prestige of the country globally,” she said, adding that from Singapore to Silicon Valley and from civil society to civil services; the students of this university have made their place in all the fields.

Daughters setting records in every field today

        The President said that out of 5,800 students of NIT, more than 1,100 are girls and out of 2,800 students graduating today, more than 500 are girls. “This is also a proud moment. Today daughters are setting records in every field. More and more girls should come forward in the field of science, mathematics, technology and engineering,” she said.

Technical institutions have to take steps towards making students future-ready

Smt. Droupadi Murmu said that in today’s digital era, challenges are also being faced by rapidly changing technologies and for this the technical institutions will have to take steps towards making students future-ready. “This is also one of the main objectives of the National Education Policy. The NIT Kurukshetra is also moving in the direction of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics etc, which is a commendable step,” she added.

Responsibility of students to solve problems through technology

The President said that the farmers of Haryana have contributed to the production of food grains by playing a valuable role in the Green Revolution. But at present, problems of air pollution, land pollution, falling groundwater level etc. have arisen in this area and it is the responsibility of the students to find solutions to these problems through technology, she asserted.

It’s time for technology for social justice

The President said that the Covid-19 pandemic has shown that even the common man is tech-friendly. “Digital payment is the biggest example of this. If the technology is for the good of the public, then the cooperation of citizens is also garnered in its adoption. Now it is time for technology for social justice. That is how technology can be used for the betterment of society and this thinking has to move forward to help the underprivileged; so that they are not left behind,” she said.

Appeal to parents, motivate children for excellence

President Smt. Droupadi Murmu said that knowledge, ability and success in life should never be measured on the basis of money. She appealed to the parents to inspire the children for excellence; only then the children would be able to experience satisfaction and meaning in life.

State government laid emphasis on strengthening infrastructure to promote education in state: Bandaru Dattatraya

Governor of Haryana, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya said that the President of India, Smt. The Chief Minister said that IIM at Sunaria, Rohtak, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology at Kurukshetra, North India’s first National Institute of Design at Umri in Kurukshetra and NIFT at Panchkula have been set up. Similarly, similar institutions have been established in other districts as well. Extension campuses of IIT Delhi are also being set up at Sonepat and Jhajjar.New education policy to be fully implemented in Haryana by 2025: Chief MinisterChief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the state government is committed to provide such education to the future generation, which will make them employable, cultured and inculcate moral qualities in them. “To make this a reality, a new education policy has come up in the country, which will be fully implemented in Haryana by the year 2025,” he added.He said that when Haryana was formed in the year 1966, there was only one university, while now 56 universities have been opened in the state. There are 41 government, society and aided institutes along with 454 private polytechnic institutes established in Haryana to provide technical education to the students. Besides, there are four government engineering colleges, 89 private engineering colleges and four technical universities imparting technical education.25 percent seats reserved for girls in all technical institutions in HaryanaSh. Manohar Lal said that the daughters of the state are achieving great heights in every field with their talent; therefore, 25 percent seats have been reserved for girls in all technical institutions. “No tuition fee is charged from the girl students studying in government polytechnic institutions. Free passport assistance scheme has been started for the students in colleges and polytechnics. Learner driving licenses are also being made in the colleges and free training of four to six months is being provided to the students in partnership with the industries,” he added.Under vision of self-reliant India, education linked with skills from school to universityThe Chief Minister said that the facility of credit guarantee scheme has been provided for the students studying in higher educational institutions of the state. “The slogan of self-reliant India given by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi can also be realized only through skill; that is why, we have linked education from school to university with skills,” he asserted.Skill University established in state for imparting skill trainingTaking another concrete step towards skill development, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University was established at Dudhola, Palwal district. “This University is one of its kind; which will provide skill education from certificate to doctorate level. Through this, training is being imparted as per the requirement of the industries,” said the Chief Minister.He said that we have received continuous cooperation from institutions like NIT, Kurukshetra in the development and dissemination of new technology. The Chief Minister congratulated the management for organising the convocation ceremony of this institute and wished a bright future to all the youth receiving degrees today and those studying in the institute.In the convocation ceremony, the Governor and the Chief Minister felicitated the gold medalist students of 2017 and 2016 batch with certificates and medals, respectively. Our government is working on Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s mantra ‘Last is First’: Chief Minister

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the entire life of the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu is inspirational and many incidents in her life fill the people with excitement, which makes it exemplary.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the President’s civic reception organised at Haryana Raj Bhavan today. Sh. Manohar Lal said that he will always be grateful to President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu on her visit to Haryana for the first time as President; during the inauguration of International Gita Mahotsav. He said that it is a matter of good luck for the people of the state that they have got the opportunity to learn a lot from the life of the President.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that the state government is working on Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s mantra – ‘Last is First’, which is benefiting the common people. He said that the work done by the state government for the scheduled castes is unprecedented. “This is an important time for the people of India and the state, which is entering the 75th year on the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, when the Haryana government has expanded the Ayushman Bharat scheme by adding 28 lakh families to it; after which the scheme has been named CHIRAYU,” he asserted.

He further said that the state government has started the Nirogi Haryana Scheme for the people with income less than Rs 1.80 lakh. Along with this, the data of all the people of the state is available with the government through Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) which is used from time to time to provide benefits of necessary schemes.

The Chief Minister said that with this data, the Haryana government is preparing schemes on the basis of need, in which old age pension is automatically made to the person after attaining the age of 60 years. “Not only this, ration cards of BPL families also reach their homes after being made. Today, there is an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the entire state and the Haryana government is fulfilling all the needs of the people on time”, added Sh. Manohar Lal.

On the occasion, Governor of Haryana, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya, Governor of Punjab, Sh. Banwari Lal Purohit, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh.
