CM DESCRIBES VICTORY OF CYSS AS A VERDICT IN FAVOUR OF MAKE INDIA NUMBER 1 CAMPAIGN

 Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today said that the victory of Chatarr Yuva Sangarsh Samiti (CYSS) – the student wing of Aam Aadmi Party in Panjab University is verdict in favour of Make India Number 1 campaign across the country.

 The Chief Minister, while interacting with the newly elected team of student council of Panjab University here at his residence, said that the University is the melting point of the students from the various states and other parts of the country. He said that the election has proved the massive undercurrent in the favour of the visionary and decisive policies of Arvind Kejriwal. Bhagwant Mann said that this result will prove to be a stepping stone for bringing the much needed revolutionary change in the politics of the country.

 The Chief Minister said that the result was a slap on the face of the divisive forces who are trying to spread hatred in the country. Congratulating the new team led by Ayush Khatkar, he asked them to work for the well being of the students. Bhagwant Mann said that the team must dedicate it for bringing the much needed positive changes in the University campus.

 The Chief Minister said that this massive victory has filled us with more humility and responsibility to serve the students. Bhagwant Mann said that now the time has come when the newly elected team must dedicate itself to make sure that comprehensive development of the University campus and the well being of students is ensured by all means. He assured fulsome support and cooperation from the state government for this noble cause adding that no stone unturned will be left for this.

CASTEIST REMARKS: JALANDHAR POLICE REGISTERED CASE AFTER INTERVENTION OF SC COMMISSION

After the intervention of the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, a case has been registered by the Jalandhar Rural Police under section 3(1) of the SC/ST Act, 1989 (Prevention of Atrocities Act) against Balkar Singh S/O Harvinder Singh who made castiest remarks.               

 Divulging  in this regard,Spokesperson of SC Commission said that Manjit Singh son of Harbhajan Singh, resident of village Chak kalan Tehsil Nakodar District Jalandhar, complained to the commission that Balkar Singh alias Balkari son of Harvinder Singh made casteist remarks to him when he was removing the tree cores  from the field. He said that no action was taken by the police on the complaint of the complaintant.

In this regard, the Commission  While sending a complaint to SSPJalandhar (Rural),  wrote that appropriate action should be taken against the accused in this case. After investigating the matter, SSP Jalandhar Rural informed the Commission that a case has been registered against Balkar Singh alias Balkari under Section 3 (1) SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 and The challan has also been presented in the honorable court.

CM ANNOUNCES TO SPREAD WINGS OF VERKA BY AUGMENTING MILK SUPPLY TO DELHI FOR BENEFITTING FARMERS OF STATE

 Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government, Milkfed- the leading Cooperative of the state will spread its milk by augmenting the milk supply to Delhi from currently 30,000 litres to 2 lakh litres thereby immensely benefitting the farmers/ milk producers of the state.“This is a revolutionary step aimed at supplementing the income of the farmers to bail them out from the agrarian crisis”, said the Chief Minister after inaugurating the newly built Milk Processing and Butter Plant Verka here today. The Chief Minister unequivocally said that the state government has inked an agreement with the Delhi government in this regard. He said that as per this agreement Verka will open new outlets at every nook and corner of Delhi to supply milk and milk products in the capital. Bhagwant Mann unequivocally said that the sole aim of his government is to extend maximum support and best prices to the dairy farmers of Punjab by following the true essence of cooperation. The Chief Minister also asserted that farmer friendly schemes should be implemented so as to boost the dairying business amongst the youth so as to make them financially independent and self-reliant. Bhagwant Mann also said that he has asked Milkfed to further launch an aggressive marketing campaign to capture a sizable chunk of consumer market not only in the state but across the country and even abroad. He said that this leading state cooperative has a perceptible presence in the domestic market as Verka is a household name in the region. The Chief Minister said that VERKA products like Ghee, Milk, Butter, Lassi, Kheer, Curd, Ice-Cream, Sweets and others have already created a niche for themselves in the nationwide market which could further be widened with concerted efforts. Striking an emotional chord with city of Ludhiana, the Chief Minister described it as his Karam bhoomi whereas Satauj village was his janambhoomi adding that the state of the art project is Diwali bonanza for the farmers as it has been constructed at a cost of Rs 105 crore. Bhagwant Mann said that its milk processing capacity is 9 lakh litres daily and 10 Metric Tonne Butter handling capacity. The Chief Minister asserted that Punjabis are blessed with the qualities of entrepreneurship and leadership. He said that due to these qualities the Punjabis have carved a niche for themselves across the globe. Bhagwant Mann said that his government strives to make youth of Punjab to job providers instead of job seekers. The Chief Minister asserted that ever since assuming the charge of office his government has been making strenuous efforts to provide corruption free administration in the state. He said that even if the corrupt leaders had joined some affluent political party also, his government has ensured that they are put behind the bars. Citing the example of recently nabbed former Minister Sunder Shyam Arora, Bhagwant Mann said that whosoever has plundered the wealth of the state will have to pay for their sins.  Listing several pro-people initiatives of the state government in Punjab, the Chief Minister said that the state government has passed the historic ‘One MLA, One Pension’ bill which stipulates that each MLA will get only a single pension, instead of the earlier provision of permitting multiple pensions for every term. He said that similarly the state government has given more than 20,000 government jobs to the youth purely on merit basis. Bhagwant Maan said that the process to regularise 36,000 contractual employees in the state has also started and recently only the state government has issued notification for regularizing services of around 9000 employees. The Chief Minister exhorted the farmers to refrain from burning paddy straw as it poses a serious threat to human life by environmental pollution. He said that in a step aimed at wiping out the menace of paddy straw burning from the state, India’s largest Bio Energy plant has been constructed in Sangrur at a  cost of Rs 230 crore over 20 acres of land. Bhagwant Mann said this is largest biofuel (Biomethane/ Bio-CNG) production units in India with 33 TPD (tons per day) adding that the annual straw consumption in this unit will be1.30 lakh ton adding that it will help in solving the vex problem of paddy straw burning. The Chief Minister said that the state government has sent a detailed list of the cattle wealth that has fallen prey to Lumpy skin to the Government of India. He said that the state government will flag the issue of compensating the farmers who have lost their cattle wealth due to this disease with the union government. Bhagwant Mann said that strenuous efforts are already being made to ensure that centre governments declare this disease as pandemic.

World class water sports hub will be developed at Rupnagar: Sports Minister

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government has created a golden history by giving a platform to the sportspersons of villages and cities to showcase their talent under the Khedan Wattan Punjab Dain-2022. These views were expressed by the Sports & Youth Services Minister, Punjab, Mr. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer while visiting the state-level sports of Rowing and Kayaking Canoeing being held inSatluj River in Rupnagar.

Speaking on the occasion, the Cabinet Minister said that world class water sports hub will be developed at Satluj River in Rupnagar and boats worth about 50 lakh rupees are also to be given to Rupnagar soon. He said that Punjab government has kept a separate budget for buying sports equipment and all requirements regarding water sports will be fulfilled.

Expressing satisfaction over the steps being taken for the winning sportspersons, he said that it is for the first time that Rs. 9.5 crores have been given to the winners of the Commonwealth Games within a month.  Similarly, the National Sportsmen are to be honoured soon after their return.  The only dream of the Chief Minister is to bring Punjab to the first place in sports at National Level.

Sharing his experience about this place Sports Minister said that when he was visited the place, there were no even basic facilities related to Rowing Academy such as toilets and changing rooms for players. Taking immediate action, separate toilets and changing rooms were established and in next phase, standardised mess will be set up to provide nutritious diet to the players.      

Mr.  Gurmeet Singh said that this is also the first time that rowing competitions are being organized by the Punjab government. The games are being held on a national standard course setup at this wetland.  He assured that more facilities will be provided here so that national and international competitions can also be held here.

On this occasion, while interacting with the media, the Cabinet Minister said that with the online registration has provide the exact information that sports trend is more preferable  in which district.  Accordingly, sports will be promoted with the classifications of areas.  He said that the Punjab government will start the Balbir Singh Senior Wazifa scheme under which Rs. 8000 will be provided to players. He said that 60,000 children are participating in the state level competitions and prizes are to be given to the winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Rupnagar constituency MLA Dinesh Chadha said that it is matter of pride that the state level rowing competition is being held here. Rupnagar is a land of canals and rivers but water sports have not been developed here in the past years.

The MLA said that sports minister had promised that he would develop rowing at Rupnagar and the rowing academy which was shifted to Mohali was brought back to Rupnagar. After that Rs. 15 lakh have been issued to develop infrastructure for the academy.  Rupnagar has had a very good participation in the Khedan Wattan Punjab Dian and the government has succeeded in re-connecting the people to the sports fields.

On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, SDM Harbans Singh, District Sports Officer  Rupesh Kumar, Secretary General Kayaking & Canoeing Association Prabhjeev Singh,  , Secretary Rowing Association Jasveer Singh, Coach Gurjinder Singh Cheema of Punjab Institute of Sports, Coach jagjeevan Singh, officials of various departments including, a large number players and spectators were present.

NO LAPSE OF FUND SHOULD OCCUR, SLOW PACE OF DEVELOPMENT WORK TO BE VIEWED SERIOUSLY-CHEEMA

Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday directed all the departments to ensure timely utilisation of all the funds provided for various development projects and welfare schemes so that the overall development of the state can be accelerated. He said that the issue of lapsed funds due to slow pace of development works or delay in the delivery of the welfare schemes would be considered seriously.

          The Finance Minister gave these directions while holding department wise review meetings with Health and Family Welfare, Local Government, Transport and Water Resources Department here at Vit Te Yojna Bhawan. The Finance Minister reviewed the current status of usage of funds provided to these departments as per budgetary provisions and under various state and centre sponsored schemes.

During a series of high-level meetings attended by the senior officials of the Finance department, Harpal Singh Cheema asked the heads of the departments to ensure a regular review of all ongoing projects.  The Finance Minister reiterated that no stone would be left unturned to ensure speedy development and providing better amenities to the people of the state.

          Finance Minister Cheema said that it was brought to his notice that most of the departments have improved their working and thereby increased the pace of development works and utilisation of funds, whereas, the performance of some departments has been unsatisfactory and they have funds worth crores waiting to be utilised. He said that the Finance department would keep a vigil eye on all departments, and he would personally hold review meeting of major departments to study the improvement in their performance.

The Finance Minister also directed the departments to disclose all active bank account details and funds on eDMS portal to ensure transparency and objectivity in public finances.

ROTATIONAL IRRIGATION PROGRAMME FOR KHARIF SEASON FROM OCTOBER 19 TO 26

The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme of irrigation for the Kharif Season through canals from October 19 TO 26,2022. The channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Sidhwan Branch, Bathinda Branch, Bist Doab Canal,  Abohar Branch and Patiala Feeder respectively.

          Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Irrigation department said that direct distributaries of Bhakhra Main line group ‘A’ being in the channels of first preference will run to their indent. Balance water available will be utilized in Ghaggar Branch and P.N.C. in Group ‘B’ respectively.

          The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozepur head works i.e. all the direct distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in group ‘A’ being in the first preference will run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilised in the Abohar Branch Lower off- taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries/Minors in Group ‘B’.

           The spokesman also said that the channels off-taking from Upper Bari Doab Canal i.e. Lahore Branch with its distributaries being in the first preference will run to their indent and balance water supplies available will be utilized in Main Branch lower,  Kasur Branch Lower,Sabhraon Branch, and with their distributaries respectively.

Chief Secretary directs top officials of Punjab to conduct regular visits in the districts

Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua on Wednesday has asked the top official of the state to conduct regular inspections in all the districts to take stock of the ground situation of stubble fire incidents.

          He said that due to incidents of stubble burning, Punjab has to face embarrassment at the national level as the Supreme Court, National Air Quality Commission and National Green Tribunal have also expressed displeasure over stubble burning incidents in the state.

          He said that it is very crucial to access the ground situation of stubble burning incidents, therefore, the concerned senior IAS officers must visit the respective districts for random checking.  Pertinently, the Punjab government has appointed 23 senior IAS in the 23 districts of the state. Officers are placed in charge of districts who supervise the procurement process of crops and implementation of welfare schemes in their respective districts.

          The Chief Secretary said during the review meeting with the top officials and all the Deputy Commissioners of Punjab for reducing the rate of stubble burning and stubble management that the entire machinery of the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is working dedicatedly to ensure that the incidence of stubble burning should be dwindled to minimal numbers.

          He directed the Deputy Commissioners that farmers who do not burn stubble should be given special honor at the district level, aiming to encourage other farmers as well.

          During the meeting, the Chief Secretary received the progress report on stubble management of the districts from the DCs alone and issued many suggestions and instructions on the spot. He said that more farmers should be sensitised about not burning stubble by making announcements from religious places of villages and through awareness camps and using other means of mediums.

          On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioners said that till now there is a significant decline in the incidents of stubble burning and all are making efforts at their respective levels to this menace it under control this time. The Deputy Commissioners brought many such cases to the notice of the Chief Secretary where after investigation it was found that the stubble was not set on fire.

          The Chief Secretary said that so far this year, compared to the previous years, there has been a significant reduction in the cases of stubble burning and efforts should be continued to reduce it further. He said that administrations are more vigilant in the villages where the incidents of stubble were recorded in the past years.

NRI SABHAS TO BE REVIVED SOON ACROSS PUNJAB, SAYS KULDEEP SINGH DHALIWAL

Punjab NRI Affairs Ministers Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Wednesday said that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government will soon revive the NRI Sabhas across the state.

The Minister, who was chairing a review meeting with the senior officers of the department at his office at Punjab Civil Secretariat here, said that the Punjab Government is committed for the welfare of Non-Residents of India (NRIs) from Punjab.

Pertinently, NRI Sabhas provide support to Punjabi’s of Indian origin residing abroad and face the constraint of inability to be physically present at all times in India to follow up their personal cases and redress their grievances.

NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal also ordered probe into the ongoing human trafficking by illegal IELTs/Immigration Centres under the garb of education visa.

He directed concerned officers to seek a detailed monitoring report on all the IELTs/Immigration Centres from Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to know about the total number of IELTs coaching centres and the number of Immigration Centres in their respective districts.

Meanwhile, more Police Stations for NRIs to be established in the state and extra force would be deployed for speedy resolution of their complaints.

CM CONDUCTS SURPRISE CHECK AT THE GOVERNMENT RAJINDRA HOSPITAL PATIALA

In order to impart quality health services to people, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today conducted surprise check at Government Rajindra hospital to take a stock of the ground situation.

The Chief Minister inspected various wards of the hospital and also interacted with the patients to take their feedback about the state of affairs in the hospital. Bhagwant Mann also had detailed interaction with the Doctors and para medical staff about the facilities at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to give facelift to the premier hospital of the region. He said that the hospital will be equipped with the state of the art equipments so that people can be provided quality medical facilities. Bhagwant Mann said that the hospital acts as a pivot for providing quality health services to people especially from the adjoining districts.

The Chief Minister said that people visit the hospital for getting quality treatment. He said that in case they don’t get the treatment here then they further move to PGIMER at Chandigarh due to which there is huge rush at that place. However, Bhagwant Mann said that the necessary augmentation in human resource and infrastructure will be made to ensure that this hospital is transformed into one of the best hospitals in the country.

The Chief Minister said that this hospital is a ray of hope for millions of people and no stone will be left unturned for further developing it into a world class hospital. He assured the patients that the pristine glory of this apex institute will be restored. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government will lay major thrust on holistic development of this hospital.

Celebration of International Day for Disaster Reduction October 18, 2022

International Day for Disaster Reduction was celebrated at National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), PGIMER, and Chandigarh on 18th October. The theme of the year 2022 is “Early detection, early action”. Dr. Vipin Kaushal, Medical Superintendent, & Head, Department of Hospital Administration was the Chief Guest of the Occasion. 

Dr. Sukhpal Kaur, Principal NINE introduced the Chief Guest to the audience.  The Chief Guest unfolded the theme and emphasized the importance of risk reduction strategies. He has further highlighted on prevention strategies using the advanced technologies. The event also witnessed mock drill on extinguisher and fire evacuation by the BSc Nursing 3rd year students in collaboration with the Department of fire, PGIMER, Chandigarh.

 Students also performed role play to demonstrate the importance of triage. More than 250 nursing students and faculty participated in the program and did hands on practice on the use of fire extinguisher.  The chief guest appreciated the students, faculty and the fire department for their efforts in making this a successful event. Prizes were given to the winners of various competitions. The event was carried out under the guidance of Principal NINE, Dr Sukhpal Kaur and faculty Dr Manju Dhandapani, Dr. Manisha Nagi, Mrs. Meenakshi Agnihotri, Mrs. Shabana & Dr. Maninder Kaur.
