GURMEET KHUDIAN KICK STARTS STATEWIDE DEWORMING DRIVE; 2K TEAMS TO DISTRIBUTE MEDICINE

Chandigarh, April 8:

Punjab Animal Husbandry Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian launched a deworming drive in the state on Tuesday, starting from the Lambi constituency of Sri Muktsar Sahib district.

S. Khudian stated that the Punjab government has purchased deworming medication for livestock at a cost of Rs. 7.78 crore. This medication will be distributed free of cost to farmers across the state.

While directing the officials to complete the deworming drive within this week, he further informed that the Animal Husbandry department has formed over 2000 teams to deliver the deworming medication directly to farmers. For those who miss the distribution, the medicine will be available free of cost at their nearest veterinary institute.

For the deworming of cows/buffaloes and calves in the entire state of Punjab, he said that the dewormers are being distributed under ASCAD scheme.

Notably, this is the second deworming campaign which is expected to have a positive impact on milk production and thus increasing farmers income. Last year’s campaign was well-received by livestock owners, who requested a repeat this year.

Mr. Rahul Bhandari, Principal Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, has directed all department officials to ensure the timely delivery of dewormers to every household having animal with it. This will ensure that all animals in the state are dewormed which will help in boosting milk production and improving animal immunity.

Dr. G.S. Bedi, Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, mentioned that deworming animals before vaccination increases their immunity and improves vaccination effectiveness. He urged all animal owners to deworm their animals before the foot-and-mouth vaccination campaign, which will begin in the mid of this month, to create a healthy livestock and eradicate foot-and-mouth disease from the state. Dewormers are available at all Civil Veterinary Hospitals and Civil Veterinary Dispensaries throughout the state, and can be obtained free of cost from the nearest veterinary institutions.

‘YUDH NASHIAN VIRUDH’: ON DAY 39, PUNJAB POLICE ARRESTS 71 DRUG SMUGGLERS; 1.8KG HEROIN, 4.9KG OPIUM RECOVERED

CHANDIGARH, April 8:

          With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state entered 39th day, Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested 71 drug smugglers and recovered 1.8 kg heroin, 4.9 kg opium, 13362 intoxicant capsules/tablets and ₹9000 drug money from their possession. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 5373 in just 39 days.

          The operation was conducted on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav simultaneously in all 28 Police districts of the state.

          Notably, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has asked the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police to make Punjab drug free state. The Punjab government has also constituted a 5-member Cabinet Sub Committee led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema to monitor the war against drugs.

          Divulging details, Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla informed that over 180 Police teams, comprising over 900 police personnel, under the supervision of 60 gazetted officers have conducted raids at as many as 350 locations across the state leading to the registration of 43 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. Police teams have also checked as many as 404 suspicious persons during the day long operation, he added.

          The Special DGP said that with the state government has enforced a three-pronged strategy— Enforcement, Deaddiction and Prevention (EDP)— to eradicate drugs from the state, the Punjab Police as part of ‘De-addiction’ has convinced one person to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.

          Meanwhile, Police teams have also conducted checking at as many as 208 pharmaceutical shops in five districts including Sri Muktsar Sahib, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Moga and Fazilka to ensure that they are not selling intoxicant tablets or any other habit-forming drugs, and are adhering to the prescribed norms and regulations regarding the sale of medicines.

Haryana Development Minister Krishan Lal Panwar reviews preparations for PM’s proposed visit to Yamunanagar

Chandigarh, April 7- Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister, Sh.Krishan Lal Panwar, visited Yamunanagar on Monday to review the preparations for the proposed visit of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. He inspected the programme venue and gave necessary directions to the officers regarding the arrangements.

Sh. Panwar said that Prime Minister, Sh.Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the third unit of the thermal power plant in Yamunanagar. A large number of people will attend the event, so it is important to complete all arrangements on time. He directed officers to ensure proper facilities for drinking water, toilets, parking, security, seating, and cleanliness in and around the venue so that the public does not face any inconvenience.

He further said that the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the third unit of 800 MW thermal power plant in Yamunanagar. Which will cost around Rs.7,272 crore. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.

Mayor, Yamunanagar, Smt. Suman Bahmani, BJP District President, Sh. Rajesh Sapra, and officers from various departments also remained present during the visit.

Doctors from Panchkula Win First Prize at MIDNESCON ’25 National Event

Chandigarh, April 7

The team of doctors from the ENT department of the Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, secured first place at the MIDNESCON ’25 national event organized by the Neurotological & Equilibriometric Society of India, organized at Karnal. Doctors from across the state participated in this event.

The doctors from Civil  Hospital Panchkula  took part in the quiz competition, paper presentation, and poster-making competition during MIDNESCON ’25. In the two-day event, the ENT department team from Panchkula won the first prize in the quiz competition.

Congratulating the winning team for their achievement, Chief Medical Officer, Civil  Hospital Panchkula, Dr. Mukta Kumar, said that participating in such competitions not only enhances knowledge but also provides an opportunity to engage in discussions on various aspects with peers.

Dr. Mukta Kumar further said that MIDNESCON ’25 is a significant platform, and the Panchkula team was the only district-level (secondary care) institution participating in this national-level event, while all other teams were from medical colleges.

Notbaly, Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur was invited as a distinguished speaker and delivered an insightful talk on nystagmus. All DNB residents enthusiastically took part in the quiz competition as well as paper and poster presentations. Dr. Abha Singla served as the coordinator for the paper presentation segment. The event proved to be an academic extravaganza, offering rich learning experiences and valuable exposure for all attendees.

Total of 2,521 vehicles checked by Mining Department in Yamunanagar District: one vehicle seized, seven challaned, and a fine of Rs. 4,31,500 imposed

Chandigarh, April 7

As per the instructions of the Haryana Government, the Mining Department is continuously taking action against illegal mining and transportation. During a joint inspection by the District Administration and Mining Department of 2,521 vehicles in Yamunanagar district, one vehicle was seized, seven vehicles were challaned, and a total fine of Rs. 4,31,500 was imposed.

While giving information in this regard , the spokesperson of the department stated that, following the instructions of the State Government, strict action will be taken against those involved in illegal mining in the state. He added that monitoring is being carried out through teams formed at various levels. The spokesperson emphasized that the administration is committed to stop illegal mining and transportation in the district, and efforts are ongoing.

He said that 1534 vehicles were checked by the teams of SDM Chhachhrauli. Similarly, during the checking of 293 vehicles by the teams of SDM Jagadhari, 1 vehicle was seized and a fine of Rs 4 lakh 26 thousand was imposed. He told that during the checking of 536 vehicles by the teams of SDM Radaur, 7 vehicles were challaned and a fine of Rs 5500 was imposed. Similarly, 158 vehicles were checked by the team of SDM Vyaspur. He told that all the SDMs, Police Department and Mining Department officials of the district are conducting checking day and night.

He mentioned that 1,534 vehicles were checked by the teams of the SDM Chhachhrauli. Similarly, during the inspection of 293 vehicles by the teams of SDM Jagadhri, one vehicle was seized, and a fine of Rs. 4,26,000 was imposed. He further stated that during the inspection of 536 vehicles by the teams of SDM Radaur, seven vehicles were challaned, and a fine of Rs. 5,500 was imposed. Additionally, 158 vehicles were checked by the team of SDM Vyaspur. He highlighted that all SDMs of the district , along with officials from the Police Department and Mining Department, are conducting inspections round the clock.

Dedicated efforts are being made for strengthening direct connectivity between Ambala and Panchkula: Anil Vij

Chandigarh, April 7

Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij said that to strengthen the rapid direct connectivity between Ambala and Panchkula, a new four/six-lane National Highway will be developed from Baldev Nagar (Ambala) on NH-72 to khatoli village near Panchkula on NH-344. Similarly, a four-lane road will be constructed on the Ambala-Saha road, from Indira Chowk to GT Road Jaggi City Center, in front of Ambala’s Domestic Airport.

Divulging more details about these road networks, , Sh. Anil Vij said that to enhance the direct, quick connectivity between Ambala and Panchkula, he had previously written a letter to the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Sh. Nitin Gadkari. Following this, Sh. Nitin Gadkari has instructed the concerned officers to begin work on the construction of these roads.

The Energy Minister said that considering the strategic and urgent need to directly connect Baldev Nagar (NH-44) to Panchkula (NH-344) near  khatoli village, through the upgrade of the existing NH-72 from Baldev Nagar (Ambala) to Handsera and the development of a greenfield alignment, he had sent a proposal to the central government. The central government has now initiated action on this.

The Highway Construction will Establish Direct and Seamless Connectivity Between Ambala and Panchkula/Chandigarh

The Energy Minister further said that the construction of this highway would establish direct and uninterrupted connectivity between Ambala and Panchkula/Chandigarh. Additionally, it is necessary to establish such seamless connectivity between Ambala and Panchkula/Chandigarh, considering both its strategic importance and economic benefits, he said.

The Minister said that this highway will not only enhance Haryana’s connectivity but will also improve links with neighbouring Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh. Sh. Vij  further shared that the construction of this highway would boost local commerce, trade, tourism and related industries and create employment opportunities.

Four-Lane Upgrade of Ambala-Saha Road to Provide better Convenience for Passengers at Ambala’s Domestic Airport

Sh. Vij said that the Ambala-Saha Road, from Indira Chowk to GT Road, Jaggi City Center, in front of Ambala’s Domestic Airport, will be upgraded to a four-lane road. This construction is also part of the proposal that  he had sent to the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Sh. Nitin Gadkari, and action has now been initiated at the central level.

The Minister said that the four-lane upgrade of this road will provide better facilities for passengers traveling to and from Ambala’s Domestic Airport, saving time for drivers as well.

‘Aeroplaza Panchkula Golf League, 2025’ kicks off

Panchkula, April   7, 2025.

The Aeroplaza Panchkula Golf League (APGL) has kick started at the Panchkula Golf Club. The league will be held till 23rd April 2025. The League is a Team Championship contested by 16 teams divided into two groups – A & B consisting 8 teams each. Each team has 14 members. The league is being played in 2 stages – the Round Robin stage followed by the Knockout stage. The round robin stage started with the following matches.

In Group A action, the ‘Highland Kings’ outplayed  ‘ADS Falcons’ with a solid 41–31 victory, securing a 10-point win through composed and consistent play.  ‘Golfing Panthers’ followed suit with a commanding performance, overpowering ‘Aces by Vintage Buildtech’ 44–24 in a one-sided affair. Meanwhile, ‘Victory Waves’ made waves of their own, comfortably defeating the ‘Sneakin Golfers’ 38–25 in a dominant display. In a thrilling match ‘Fantastic Fours’ defeated ‘Clubs on Flames’ with a close margin of 38-35.

In Group B matches, ‘Golfing Eagles’ showcased their skills on the green course, crushing their opponents, ‘Par-Tee Crashers’, with a commanding margin of 45–30. In another dominant display, the ‘Shivalik Swingers’ defeated the ‘Tee Titans’ with a solid 40–26 win. Meanwhile, in a close match   ‘Green Warriors’ prevailed over  ‘Raging Bulls’  , ’38–32′. In the last match ‘Tee Birds’ edged out ‘Hansa Legends’ 35-32.

During stage 1 of the league seven (7) days of round robin play will be held, which means each team plays every other in the group. The Knockout stage starts with the quarter-finals which will be held on April 18. The quarters will be followed by the semi-finals on April 20, and the grand finale on April 23 at Panchkula Golf Club.

The teams in Group A are – Highland Kings, ADS Falcons, Golfing Panthers, Aces by Vintage Buildtech, Fantastic Fours, Clubs on Flames, Sneakin Golfers, and Victory Waves.

In Group B teams include Golfing Eagles, Par-Tee Crashers, Tee Titans, Green Warriors, Raging Bulls, Tee Birds, Shivalik Swingers and Hansa Legends.

Round Robin Scoring System: During a match against another team, each team will nominate 5 pairs to take on 5 pairs from the opposing team. When one pair plays another pair from the opposing team, the combined stableford score of both the partners on each hole will be compared with the combined stableford score of the opposing pair on that hole to determine which pair wins the hole.

The total number of holes won by both the teams, after adding the wins for all the 5 pairs in the team, will be compared to determine which team has won the match and they will get 3 points for a Win and 1 point each in case they have the same number of wins.

Drug-Free Haryana Cyclothon 2.0 flagged off with great fervor from Hisar

Chandigarh, April 5 – In a spirited push to make Haryana drug-free and safeguard its youth from the menace of drugs, the Drug-Free Haryana Cyclothon 2.0 was inaugurated in a grand manner from Hisar today. Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini flagged off the Cyclothon, which will spread the message of a drug-free Haryana to every corner of the state, playing a vital role in raising awareness among the younger generation.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also administered a pledge to all youth and attendees to stand united against drug addiction and to actively contribute to building a drug-free Haryana.

Addressing the youth on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed pride in the initiative. He said that today is a proud day for Haryana. As we observe the holy days of Navratri, the youth of the state have taken a solemn pledge to eliminate drugs from Haryana. While reiterating Haryana’s rich cultural identity, he said, “Desha Maa Desh Haryana, Jeet Doodh Dahi Ka Khana – wrestling is the pride of Haryana. Our strong wrestlers, valiant soldiers, and dedicated farmers define who we are. There is no room for drugs in such a state.” He said that over the next three weeks, the cyclothon will travel across every village in Haryana to create awareness and mobilize public support for a drug-free society.

He also recalled the success of the previous Cyclothon campaign, which spanned 25 days and saw participation from 1,77,200 cyclists and 5,25,800 citizens. Building on that momentum, Cyclothon 2.0 has been launched with renewed energy and resolve.

He said that this campaign is not just about protecting our future generations. It is a determined strike against the evil of drug addiction that threatens our social fabric. The enthusiasm witnessed today assures us that, together, we will succeed in our mission to eradicate drug abuse from Haryana, he added.”

Everyone to take a pledge to make Haryana drug free

The Chief Minister said that drug addiction is emerging as a major challenge in today’s society. Drugs not only destroy health but also pose a serious threat to the well-being of the community and the nation. He said  that drug abuse is directly linked to rising crime rates, including serious offenses such as arms smuggling and illegal financial transactions. This is a grave issue and we must all pledge to make Haryana drug-free.

He informed that the State Action Plan to combat drug abuse was launched on May 5, 2023, with a three-pronged approach including public awareness campaigns, de-addiction and rehabilitation and strict action against drug traffickers. To intensify action against drug traffickers, the state government has constituted a Special Task Force (STF). Alongside enforcement, large-scale awareness campaigns are being conducted, and efforts are underway to rehabilitate youth affected by addiction and reintegrate them into the mainstream of society.

The Chief Minister said that 52 de-addiction centres have been set up across the state. Special de-addiction wards have been established in government medical colleges, while de-addiction centres have been established in 13 district civil hospitals. Further, treatment and counselling facilities are being strengthened at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs). The campaign also includes active participation from Gram Panchayats and Sarpanchs, ensuring that the message reaches the grassroots and every village becomes free from drug abuse.

In support of this initiative, the government has launched a toll-free helpline to provide assistance to drug addicts and to receive public reports on drug-related activities. A dedicated portal named ‘Manas’ has also been created, allowing citizens to anonymously report information about drug smugglers. The identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential.

He added that the government has also taken strong action by confiscating properties of those involved in drug trafficking. To strengthen enforcement, ‘Hawk’ software and the ‘Prayas’ mobile app have been developed, which help maintain a centralised database of criminals, victims, and drug-related incidents. In addition, the ‘Dhaakad’ programme has been launched in schools, colleges, and universities to protect children and youth from falling into the trap of addiction. To further strengthen enforcement, Anti-Narcotics Cells have been established at the district, range, and state levels.

Highlighting the harmful effects of drug addiction in a poetic tone, the Chief Minister said “shok banta hai pahle, fir lat ban jaati hai, Dheere dheere zindagi ki keemat ghat jaati hai, chhod de in zehar bhari aadaton ko, warna isse saanson ki ginti bhi ghat jaati hai.” (First comes the hobby, then comes the addiction, Slowly, the value of life starts fading, Let go of these toxic habits, Otherwise even the breath you count will start fading.)

Cyclothon to spread awareness against drug abuse across the state – Ranbir Gangwa

On this occasion, Public Health Engineering Minister Sh Ranbir Gangwa said that the campaign launched today from Hisar will play a pivotal role in spreading awareness against drug abuse across the state. He highlighted that the participation of youth, elderly citizens, and daughters in the cyclothon symbolizes a united front against this menace. These participants will travel to every corner of Haryana, inspiring others especially the younger generation to stay away from drugs. He further added that Haryana holds a strong and respected identity across India, and it is our collective responsibility to preserve and uphold that identity by working together to eliminate the threat of drug addiction from our society.

He stated that the cyclothon is a significant step in this direction, aimed at protecting the youth from falling into the trap of addiction. This moment marks a turning point that will give Haryana new strength and a renewed identity. The Minister said that this is a people-centric campaign that will reach every individual in the state and will play a vital role in propelling Haryana towards a healthier and more progressive future.

Artists greet audience and delivers powerful performances focused on drug de-addiction

The arrival of renowned singers Azad Singh Khanda Khedi, Subhash Fauji, Naveen Punia, Pradeep Bura, Pooja Hooda, Sundar Singh Sagar, and artists from the Information, Public Relations, and Languages Department added a wave of excitement to the event. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as the artists greeted the audience and delivered powerful performances focused on drug de-addiction. Through their soulful songs and impactful presentations, the artists conveyed a strong message of a drug-free Haryana and emphasized the significance of the cyclothon as a symbol of collective resolve against drug abuse.

Prime Minister to inaugurate air services from Hisar on Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti – Chief Minister

Chandigarh, April 5 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi will inaugurate air services from Maharaja Agrasen Hisar Airport to Ayodhya on April 14. He said it is a matter of great pride for the people of Haryana to receive this special gift on the occasion of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti.

The Chief Minister was interacting with media persons after inaugurating the ‘Drug-Free Haryana Cyclothon 2.0’ in Hisar on Saturday.

Responding to a query about statements made by Hisar MP Sh Jai Prakash regarding the airport, the Chief Minister remarked, “I invite the Member of Parliament to join us on April 14. He would not even have to purchase a ticket; he will be given a free seat and the opportunity to have darshan of Lord Shri Rama. He added that every citizen of Haryana will stand united to welcome the Prime Minister on this historic day.

In response to another question regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill, the Chief Minister said that the politics of appeasement had long prevailed during the tenure of previous governments, leading to significant setbacks for the nation. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi, systemic reforms are being undertaken, and the past mistakes are being corrected,” he said.

Cabinet Ministers Sh Ranbir Gangwa and Sh Krishna Kumar Bedi, along with MLA Smt. Savitri Jindal, Sh Vinod Bhyana, Sh Randhir Panihar, and other senior leaders were also present at the event.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini conducts surprise inspection of water works on Kaimri Road in Hisar

Chandigarh, April 5 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini conducted a surprise inspection of the water works located on Kaimri Road in Hisar on Saturday. During the visit, he enquired officials about the water supply system and also inspected the cleanliness of the water tank. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure high standards of cleanliness in the water works tank and entire premises.

The Chief Minister also visited the treatment plant within the water works. He said that government is committed to provide clean and safe drinking water to the public. He said that the Public Health Engineering Department must take all necessary steps to ensure that clean water reaches every household.

On this occasion, Public Health Engineering Minister Sh Ranbir Gangwa briefed the Chief Minister, stating that the existing 9 MLD (Million Litres per Day) water treatment plant was quite old. In its place, a new 15 MLD plant has now been installed, which is currently undergoing trial operations. He informed that this plant caters to approximately 20 to 25 percent of Hisar city’s population.

Following the inspection, Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini also visited the residence of Cabinet Minister Sh Ranbir Singh Gangwa, where he was warmly welcomed by party workers with chants of “Jai Shri Ram.” During the interaction, the Chief Minister discussed local issues with the workers and appreciated their active involvement in public welfare initiatives.
