CONGRESS GOVERNMENT HAD GIVEN AROUND 8000 JOBS TO YOUTH IN FIRST YEAR WHEREAS INCUMBENT GOVERNMENT HAS GIVEN 28873 JOBS

IEP Chandigarh, April 24

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday said that his sincere and honest government has given 28873 jobs to youth in one year whereas the previous Congress government had given around 8000 jobs in its maiden year. Addressing the gathering in a function organised here at Municipal Bhawan to hand over appointment letters to the 409 newly recruited Sub Divisional Officers (SDOs), Clerks, Junior Draftsmen and others in Local Government, PWD, Technical Education and General Administration department, the Chief Minister said that due to callousness of previous regimes government job was earlier a ‘distant dream’ for the youth of the state where as his government has ensured that youth get the jobs as per their merit for which a transparent mechanism has been evolved. He said that the earlier government lacked the commitment and zeal to serve the masses in true sense due to which these jobs were far away from the youth. However, Bhagwant Mann said that within a year of formation of their government they have given 28873 jobs to the eligible youth completely on merit basis. The Chief Minister reiterated that this venue has witnessed a number of such events in which youth have got jobs in various government departments. He said that this reflects the commitment of the state government to ensure the well being of youth and opening new avenues of employment for them. Bhagwant Mann said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him that all the youth will become active partners in social economic progress of the state. Interacting with the youth, the Chief Minister asserted that they should follow the dictum of ‘duty is duty’ and discharge it with utmost dedication, hard work and commitment. Congratulating the newly recruited employees of the state government for getting the job, he said that it is a red letter day for them as they have become a new member of the family of state government. Bhagwant Mann said that their name will be written in golden letters in the annals of history as they will be part of the campaign to restore the pristine glory of the state. The Chief Minister said that as runways at the airports facilitate an Airplane for its smooth take off in the same manner the state government is helping the youth to realize their dreams. He asserted that every effort is being made to give wings to the ideas of youth and no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause. Bhagwant Mann made a fervent appeal to youth to make all out efforts for carving an identity of their own to make a place in society adding that sky’s the limit for them. The Chief Minister asserted that Punjabis are born leaders as they are blessed with the qualities of entrepreneurship and leadership. He said that due to these qualities the Punjabis have always carved a niche for themselves across the globe. Bhagwant Mann emphasized that Punjabi entrepreneurs have made huge empires from humble ideas and have proved their mettle in every arena. Making a scathing attack on the opposition parties, the Chief Minister said that those who were living in palatial houses during their heydays of power have been ousted from the political scene of the state. He said that the state has witnessed the dawn of a new era as these people who were considered invincible have been shown the door by the people. Bhagwant Mann said that due to this a change has been witnessed in Punjab and for the first time people centric decisions have acquired centre-stage in the process of governance. The Chief Minister quipped that these people living in big palaces had never bothered about the well being of the common man and had confined them in high walls of their residences. However, he said that when people got the chance they outrightly rejected them and formed a government that works for the well being of the state. Bhagwant Mann said that ever since assuming the charge of office his government is making strenuous efforts for the progress of the state and prosperity of its people. The Chief Minister asserted that he is the votary of the fact that the democracy with diverse ideas and views is always a successful one. Bhagwant Mann said that a garden which has a variety of flowers soothes the eyes of everyone due to which people throng to see it. In the similar manner, he said that the homogeneity of all the religions and sections are important for a progressive society. The Chief Minister also said that the state government is mulling to move to court for recovery of Rs 55 lakh from the former Ministers who have signed the file to ensure cozy stay of a dreaded criminal from UP Mukhtar Ansari in Ropar Jail. He said that this is brazen loot of the public money which cannot be tolerated at any cost. Bhagwant Mann said that for reasons best known to the previous regimes this notorious criminal was kept in Ropar Jail with full comforts for which Rs 55 lakh were spent from the taxpayers money.  Later, the Chief Minister also launched a placement portal/ mobile app of the Technical Education department to apprise the youth about new vistas of employment. On the occasion Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua and others were also present.
