Vigilance Bureau nabs ASI taking bribe Rs 10,000 to register police case

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the State, as directed by the Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, on Tuesday nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Surinder Singh red handed for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

          Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the accused ASI Kulwinder Singh (No 128/Pathankot), posted at sadar police station, Pathankot has been arrested on the complaint of Mahavir Singh resident of village Samrala, Pathankot district. Giving details he informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said police official was demanding a bribe of Rs. 50,000 in lieu of registering a police case on basis of medico-legal reports of his wife and son.

          The spokesperson said after verifying this complaint, a VB team laid a trap and the accused police official was caught red handed while taking a bribe money of Rs. 10,000 as a first installment in the presence of two official witnesses.

          He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused ASI at VB police station, Amritsar and further investigation was under progress

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign on Thursday, has registered a corruption case against an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), Ramesh Kumar, attached as Reader with District Deputy Attorney (Legal) for demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000.

          Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the bribery case against the above accused ASI has been registered after investigation of an online complaint lodged at the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption helpline.

          Giving details he added that the complainants Dhawaljit Datta resident of Berian Mohalla, Gurdaspur and Surinder Mohan have informed that the above said police official has demanded Rs 40,000 as a bribe for taking action on a police enquiry and accepted Rs 10,000 from Surinder Mohan in this regard. The complainant has recorded the conversation while giving money to the accused.

          The spokesperson added that the VB has investigated the allegations levelled in the complaint and registered a corruption case against the above mentioned police official after finding him guilty for demanding and accepting a bribe money. In this regard the VB has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station Amritsar. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he added.

50th State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children -2022 organized in Chandigarh

The 50th State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children -2022 organized by SCERT, Chandigarh in collaboration with NCERT, New Delhi was inaugurated today by Sh. Dharam Pal, Advisor to the Administrator, Chandigarh at SCERT, Chandigarh. 

Sh. Dharam Pal interacted with the students and appreciated the efforts put in by the students and teachers. He motivated the students to carry the zeal of innovation and experimentation so that they can contribute in the upliftment of society. He congratulated the students and teachers for displaying their innovative ideas through models. 

Director SCERT,  Dr. Surender Singh Dahiya announced that all the participants in this exhibition are prize winners as each model will get some prize money.

The Exhibition is held to popularize Science amongst children, teachers and general public. It is designed to inculcate the scientific temperament amongst children and to enable them to analyze their everyday experiences to understand the linkages between local and global issues.

The theme of this year Exhibition is ‘Technology and Toys’. 115 selected models of Chandigarh Schools are participating in the final level from 6th December to 8th December, 2022. The Exhibition will also showcase the 07 prize winning models of State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children, 2021-22 which recently participated in 49th Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani held in Guwahati from  22nd to 26th November 2022.

Under INSPIRE Awards – MANAK, 05 students who participated in the 9th National Level Exhibition and Project Competition held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 13th to 16th September 2022 will also display their projects.

State Level Exhibition of Posters and Models under National Population Education Project was also inaugurated by the Chief Guest. The prizewinning posters from Govt. schools of UT Chandigarh and the selected models on themes of Population Education are also at display in the exhibition.

The Prize Distribution Function will be held on 8th December, 2022 in which cash prizes amounting to Rs. 5100/-, Rs. 3100/-, Rs. 2100/- for first, second & third prize respectively. The exhibition will be open for visitors from 6th to 8th December, 2022 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. 

The other dignitaries present at the function were Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Education Secretary, Sh. Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education and Sh. Amandeep Singh Bhatti, PCS, Director Higher Education.

Advanced Hemogram Laboratory inaugurated at new OPD block, PGIMER

PGIMER’s Hematology Department has established an Advanced Fully Automated Hemogram Laboratory catering to the institute’s heavy OPD patient workload. This was inaugurated by the Director, Professor Vivek Lal on Tuesday. Director said that the new laboratory is fully equipped with the latest instruments to test blood samples, and automatically prepare slides for examination by pathologists. The hemogram includes tests like hemoglobin, platelet count and white blood cell count as well as differential count, reticulocyte count etc. These are very commonly requested tests by the clinical services, and this new initiative will cut down the time for reports to 4 to 6 hours, from the previous turn-around time of about 15 hours. In addition to the basic tests, the new machines are also equipped with sophisticated new features like fluorescent platelet counts (useful in dengue patients), detection of fragmented red blood cells in microangiopathic anemia as well as early detection of iron deficiency through reticulocyte hemoglobin content. They will also detect abnormal cells in patients with infections and blood cancer. This will further enhance the patient care services as well as aid the research activities of the institute, he added.

The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is constantly striving for the welfare of every section of the society.Under this series, the Punjab government has released an amount of 267 lakh rupees for the update of M.R. Homes running in the districts of Ludhiana, Rajpura (Patiala), Kapurthala and Sri Amritsar Sahib for the mentally ill patients of the state.Divulging this, Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur said that keeping in mind the needs of patients facing psychological issues in the state, the State Government has speeded up the pace of improving the infrastructure at the homes housing such patients in Ludhiana, Rajpura,(Patiala)( for boys), Kapurthala, Amritsar Sahib (for girls).She said that the government is doing update of 04 M.R. Homes for mental patients in the state, for which an amount of 267 lakh rupees has been released.Dr. Baljit Kaur further added that the Punjab government is committed to provide corruption free administration to the people of the state, therefore, transparency must be ensured in the execution of these works.

On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to strengthen the government institutions and give boost to the cooperative movement, the Punjab Government has prepared a plan for the expansion of Milkfed. In a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua, approval was given to open 625 new milk booths in the state and to open a permanent office in NCR to expand the scope of Verka products.

Chief Secretary Mr. Janjua said that Cooperative institutions such as Milkfed are directly connected with the farmers, which procure milk from the farmers at a good price and manufacture high quality products and sell them to the customers at reasonable prices.

In view of the increasing demand for Verka products, there is a plan to open a total of 1000 new booths in Punjab, of which 625 booths were approved in the first phase today. These places come under various government departments of the state for which all the administrative secretaries have been asked to allot booths. With this, while youth will get employment, people will get Verka products at door step. He asked the Milkfed officials to identify places where there is high footfall and high demand for opening booths in the second phase. Apart from this, it was also asked to advertise Verka products aggressively.

In order to expand the scope of Milkfed in the NCR (New Delhi-Gurgaon-Noida), the Chief Secretary approved the opening of a new office in New Delhi, for which he asked the Secretary PWD to identify sites at Nabha House. Mr. Janjua said that in the year 2021-22, 19.17 lakh liters of milk was procured per day (LLPD) and 11.01 lakh liters of packed liquid milk was sold per day. Milkfed has set a target of purchasing 29 LLPD and selling 18.50 LLPD of packed liquid milk by the next five years (2026-27).

It was decided to increase the number of checking mobile vans to prevent adulteration of milk and milk products in the state so that the campaign against adulteration can be strengthened at the ground level. Similarly, it was considered to authorize veterinary officers to draw samples of Milk, Milk Products and other food stuff as per the provisions of FSSAI act.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Cooperation Anurag Agarwal, Secretary PWD Neel Kanth Awadh, MD Milkfed Amit Dhaka, General Managers Harminder Singh Sandhu, Renu Dhar and Sanjeev Sharma.

The Haryana Government is making dedicated efforts to revive the saga of bravery and sacrifice of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur that has been recorded in the golden pages of history.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while presiding over the meeting regarding the Museum and Theme Park to be set up in Lohgarh today, directed the officers concerned to prepare the design of the museum and theme park being built in an area of about 10 acres at Lohgarh in Yamunanagar in a state-of-the-art manner. In the first phase, the work of fort, main gate and boundary wall will be done.

Tourism, Art and Cultural Affairs Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal and Member of Parliament, Sh. Sanjay Bhatia also remained present in the meeting.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that it is an ambitious project of the state government to develop Lohgarh, the capital of great Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, from a historical and tourism point of view.

The Chief Minister said that the museum should prominently showcase the entire life span of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur so that the younger generation would take inspiration from his life. He said that apart from the museum, a Shaheedi Samarak should be built, dedicated to many soldiers who were martyred along with Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.

Museum will be a blend of history and the latest technology

The  Museum will have a blend of the inspiring life history of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and the latest technology to give a glimpse of a new world for the visitors.  Apart from the 3D projection display, weapons, costumes, setting up of giant installations have also been proposed. The life stories of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur will be shown through the Augmented Reality technique.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was a saint for society, a soldier for the enemies

The Chief Minister said that Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was a saint for society, but a soldier for the enemies. He took up arms, defended the nation, and established the first Sikh state with a capital at Lohgarh. He made numerous contributions to the development of society and this is the reason that Haryana government is focusing upon developing Lohgarh as a pilgrimage, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

He said that Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was the first Sikh military chief to start a war against the Mughal rulers and also expanded the Sikh kingdom with his indomitable courage. His life has been inspirational.

Martial arts school will also be established

The Chief Minister said that a martial arts school should also be established in Lohgarh. For this, the Sports and Youth Affairs Department should study the design of this school and the inclusion of martial arts. He said that the martial arts school should impart training in traditional martial arts like Gatka, Thang-Ta, Kalaripayattu etc. Besides this, Yoga and Mallakhamba should also be included in the training schedule.

He said that the road from Lohgarh to Adi Badri should be widened and improved so that the tourists coming here can commute easily.

Lohgarh and Adibadri are being developed as tourist places

Sh. Manohar Lal said that along with Lohgarh, the state government is also developing Adi Badri from the point of view of tourism. Dam, barrage is being built in Adi Badri. Adi Badri is also of historical importance here due to its connection with Saraswati River. Therefore, in future, the area from Lohgarh to Adi Badri will become an important place from the point of view of tourism. The State Government is making continuous efforts to promote tourism in the state.

Haryana CM takes another initiative for upliftment of Antyodaya families in Haryana

Moving ahead with the aim to uplift the Antyodaya families socially and economically in the state, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has taken another initiative under which the Antyodaya families whose annual income is less than Rs 1 lakh will get 50 marks in the merit of 150 marks in the recruitment of PGT and TGT through Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN). Similarly, the Antyodaya families with annual income up to Rs 1.80 lakh will be given 40 marks in merit.

         With this initiative of the Chief Minister, the trained teachers will also get rid of the discrimination of salary being given arbitrarily by the private schools. In private schools, such teachers get a monthly salary of Rs 8,000 to 10,000, while TGT teachers engaged through the HKRN will get Rs 25,000 and PGT teachers will get Rs 29,000.

        The candidates were astonished when the Chief Minister himself offered the deployment letters through the corporation and by phone calls inquired about the SMS received on their mobiles. Some teachers who received job offers on contractual basis expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister and appreciated the completion of recruitment; twice in just 26 days.

         It is noteworthy that on November 23, online job offer letters were provided to 2,075 TGT and PGT teachers in the same way. With this, in just 26 days, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has provided job offer letters to 4,144 teachers through Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam; while the process for more than 4,800 is underway. After the data is approved by the School Education Department and Haryana Human Resource Department, the HKRN takes forward the recruitment process.

        In the first phase, there were some technical flaws when the deployment letters were given at the time of recruitment of 2,075 PGTs and TGTs; which have now been rectified. So far, under the outsourcing policy, more than 90,000 employees already engaged on contract basis through agencies have been accommodated through Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam.

Some candidates got emotional when Chief Minister inquired about SMS

Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal asked Alpana, a resident of Bugana village in Hisar district, regarding applying for the job of a teacher through the HKRN. The Chief Minister then discussed the SMS received on her mobile from the corporation and asked her to send the details of the 8-digit Parivar Pehchan Patra. Responding to queries, Alpana told the Chief Minister that she was working as a TGT in a private school with a monthly salary of Rs 8,000. The Chief Minister said that now at least Rs 25,000 will be given as a monthly salary, which will be equal to three months’ salary of the private school.

        Similarly, the Chief Minister talked to Kavita Rani of Kanina, Mahendergarh, Prince of Saraswati Nagar, Yamunanagar, Manoj and Mamta and advised them to apply in the regular recruitments being done by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission and the Haryana Public Service Commission. The Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam is working to fill the posts of 1,500 drivers for ‘Dial 112’ vehicles; approved in the recent cabinet meeting and its recruitment process is expected to be completed soon.

Commemorating the death anniversary of the principal architect of our constitution and Bharat Ratna, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that Babasaheb’s name is always mentioned with pride and dignity whenever there is discussion about freedom, equality, justice, and fraternity in the world.

        “Babasaheb serves as an inspiration in the struggle for social justice on behalf of the oppressed and underprivileged members of the society.  Even after getting higher education and a doctorate degree in prestigious universities of the country and the world; he dedicated his whole life for the upliftment of the deprived section of the society,” said the Chief Minister, adding that Babasaheb Ambedkar gave a new direction to the country and the path shown by him still remains relevant even today.

Eye & health Check-up camp test organized at Brookfield International School

Brookfield International School organized Eye Check-up  test for its students, staff and faculty members. Tests like vision ,colour Vision, Refractive index test, Radioscopy and Neuropathy were done in order to check the health of the eye   by  A team of Eye specialists from Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Ltd.

The doctors brought well-equipped eye examination tools to examine the students effectively. They also spoke to the students about how to increase awareness and improve access to eye healthcare services. The objective of this event was to spread awareness of eye disorders, their early detection and detect refractive errors and eye ailments among school children.

Good health and good habits are very important factors for students to get benefited from quality education and grow up as empowered individuals. The Students were also oriented by the doctors how to protect eyes after the check-up programme.

Manav Singla , Director,  Brookfield International School motivated the students, staff and Faculty members to have stress free life. He informed them that Health is everything, if we invest more in health as compared to anything else and then we will be getting many fruitful returns in the near future. He further added that this is a beautiful beginning for promoting health among young students.
