Books act as a guide in the life of a man. This was stated by Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya while sharing his thoughts on the book ‘Dream Journey’ written by Sh. Sarban Singh, a former IAS officer of Haryana cadre, at Raj Bhavan.

He wished the author Sh. Singh for his book and also inspired him to write more books in the future. Sh. Sarban Singh presented a copy of ‘Dream Journey’ to Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya during a courtesy meeting at Raj Bhavan.

Governor, Sh. Dattatraya said that in this age of the Internet, people’s interest in reading books has reduced. Books are not only a storehouse of knowledge but also a friend of man. We should encourage our youth to develop reading habits, he said.

The Governor said that writers, teachers and scholars will have to create literature based on the lives of great men. This will give a new direction to the young generation to take up their career and work in the interest of the nation, he said.

The author of the book Shri Sarban Singh said that in the book ‘Dream Journey,’ he has treasured his life’s inspirational experience and struggles and will power to move forward. He has also shared success tips in the book.

HAFED earn record profit of more than Rs. 200 crores

HAFED earned a profit of around Rs. 207 crores during the financial year 2021-22 which is the record in its history of more than 55 years. The business turnover of approx. Rs.17, 700 crore achieved by HAFED during this period is also the highest ever.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Kailash Bhagat, Chairman HAFED said that Hafed has recently taken numerous bold initiatives for expanding the domain of HAFED business. It has diversified into Exports, Commercial purchase of different commodities like Paddy, Wheat & Mustard Seed etc. and a special emphasis has been given to the exports activities. As a result, HAFED has got an export order of 20,000 MT basmati rice valuing 21.85 million USD from Saudi Arabia.

He further informed that HAFED is also exploring business opportunities in other countries to expand its export business and focus has also been enhanced on marketing of its products in the domestic market by adding new products like Multi-grain Atta, Namkeen, Biscuits, Jaggery, Poha etc. in its product range.

HAFED Managing Director, Sh. A. Sreenivas, IAS, shared that infrastructure is also being augmented in Hafed by setting up of new units like Oil Mill at Rampura, Cattle Feed Plant at Rohtak, Flour Mill at Jatusana, Fortified Rice Kernels unit at Taraori, Modern Rice Mills at Ding, Rania & Baroda, Turmeric Plant at Radaur etc., so that world class infrastructure is put in place to ensure best quality products.

He also emphasized that consumers would witness paradigm changes in the product range, quality and packaging of HAFED products in the coming months. He further mentioned that being the largest Food-grains Procurement & Warehousing agency of the State Government, HAFED is also supporting the Government and the farmers of the State by providing timely and efficient marketing support.

Centre approves an amount of Rs 2455.39 crore for NHM, Haryana for the financial year 2022-24

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar said that a special campaign should be launched to make people aware of eye donation as this donation is truly a divine deed.

Health checkups should be organized for school children at least once a year. Besides this, wide publicity should be done to make the information about the activities, programmes implemented by the National Health Mission, said Sh. Manohar Lal while presiding over the 8th General Body meeting of State Health Society, NHM Haryana held late evening on Wednesday.

Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, Urban Local Bodies Minister, Sh. Kamal Gupta and Development and Panchayat Minister, Sh.  Devender Babli were also present at the meeting.

The Chief Minister directed the officers that the meeting of the Governing and General Body of NHM constituted at the district level must be held at least once a year.

Sh. Manohar Lal directed the Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department that at least two or three officers should be deputed from the headquarters, who would visit the districts and hold these meetings. A separate engineering wing should be established in the health, education and sports departments, directed Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister directed that the State Action Plan for making Haryana Anemia free should also be implemented expeditiously. He further directed that a portal should be launched on which patients can register information about the need for artificial limbs.

Soon kitchen facilities should be ensured in hospitals

Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij directed the officers that work should be done at a fast pace to ensure the hospitals’ kitchen facilities so that nutritious food can be made available to the patients and their attendants.  An audit of NHM should be conducted every year. A new variant of COVID-19 has been reported in some places, hence the health department should make necessary arrangements well in advance, said Sh. Anil Vij.

During the eye examination, screening for amblyopia should also be done

Urban Local Bodies Minister, Sh. Kamal Gupta said that during an eye examination, special attention should also be done for the screening of amblyopia. Amblyopia mostly goes undiagnosed, due to which the eyesight of children becomes weak. He said that it is a vision development disorder, which affects the eyes and brain during infancy and childhood, hence it needs special attention.

A survey should be done in 4 districts in coordination with eye specialists from AIIMS

The Chief Minister was apprised that 23 eye donation centres have been set up in the state. Two eye banks will also be set up at Karnal and Nuh. A survey of Gurugram, Yamunanagar, Fatehabad and Nuh districts will be conducted with the help of ophthalmologists from AIIMS, under which eye examination of more than 20,000 people will be done. Besides this, the Jyoti app will also be launched in Haryana soon.

An amount of Rs 110 crore has been approved under Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission

To further strengthen health services in Haryana, the Central Government has approved Rs 110 crore under Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.

The Chief Minister was apprised that the Government of India has accorded administrative approval of Rs.1443.27 crore against the resource envelope of Rs. 1445.13 crores for the financial year 2022-23 and Rs.1012.12 crore for the year 2023-24 against the resource envelope of Rs.1284.14 crore for the year 2022-23. Hence the total amount of Rs 2455.39 crore has been approved for the financial year 2022-24.

The functioning of e-Sanjeevani Health and Wellness Centres gained praise in Lok Sabha

The Chief Minister was apprised that the doctors of Health and Wellness Centres, through a digital medium, are directly consulting the specialist doctors at PGIMER to get their opinions about the various health ailments to ensure better treatment for the patients.  This initiative taken by the State Government has also been praised in the Lok Sabha by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.

It was further informed that 6 Specialized MCH Wings would be set up at Civil Hospitals and Medical College, Nuh at Panchkula, Panipat, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Palwal to provide RMNCAH+N services in the State. The drawings for all the wings of MCH have been approved. The construction work is going on at MCH Panchkula and Panipat. The work of floating tenders for MCH Faridabad is in process.

The Chief Minister was apprised that the Government of India has approved the setting up of a High Dependency Unit (HDU) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in five Government Medical Colleges and District Hospitals of Faridabad, Gurugram and Panchkula in the State.

Haryana’s Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) as per SRS 2020 is 28, which was 41 in 2013.  It has come down significantly by 13 points.  There are 24 Special Newborn Care Units (SNCUs) along with KMCU, 66 Neo born Stabilization Units (NBSUs), 318 Newborn Care Corners (NBCCs) and 11 Nutritional Rehabilitation Centers (NRCs) in the state.

E-Sanjeevani, an online stay-home OPD facility started under the government’s national teleconsultation services have also been started in Haryana.  Under this service, one can consult a doctor using a laptop/desktop or android smartphone.

Under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), students from economically weaker sections studying in government schools, as well as private schools, are being covered. RBSK is an innovative and ambitious initiative that envisages child health check-ups and early intervention services. It is a systematic approach to the early detection and care of medical conditions and the relationship between support and treatment. 152 surgeries have been done under RBSK.

Non-official members of NHM Haryana also attended the meeting and gave important suggestions for the implementation of the activities being implemented by NHM.

CM bats for strong ties between Punjab and Nigeria

          Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today batted for strong collaboration between Nigeria and Punjab in varied fields.

          The Chief Minister, while interacting with Nigerian High Commissioner to India Ahmed Sule, said that there was a huge scope of mutual benefit for both Nigeria and Punjab. He said that strengthening of ties between Nigeria and Punjab is need of the hour to ensure that both script a new success story. Bhagwant Mann advocated that Nigeria and Punjab should explore more feasibility of opening new vistas of mutual cooperation amongst them.

          The Chief Minister said that Punjab is an agrarian economy and his single point agenda is to make agriculture a profitable venture by reducing the input costs. He said that his government is already making strenuous efforts to supplement the income of farmers adding that no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause. Bhagwant Mann further said that efforts are also afoot to reduce the ever increasing costs of agriculture so as to bail farmers from the crisis.

          Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that efforts will be made to enhance mutual collaborations in field of import-export of agriculture implements. Likewise, he also said that feasibility of increasing trade based on crops and fertilisers will also be explored. Bhagwant Mann said that it is the need of hour to benefit the farmers of the state through mutual collaboration between Nigeria and Punjab.

On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Border Security Force India’s First Line of Defense will be organizing Full, Half Marathon and 10 Km Run with the theme of “Hand in Hand with Border Population” on 29th Oct 2022 at JCP, Attari, Amritsar. The aim of this Marathon/Run is to promote the spirit of adventure, enterprise and National integration amongst the population, particularly youth from border areas.

The Curtain Raiser Ceremony of the event was organized on 20 Oct 2022 at Joint Check Post (JCP) Attari, which was graced by Ms. Suman Sharma (Arjuna Awardee in Basketball). Sh Kuldeep Singh Bhullar, Ex DC, BSF (DhyanChand Awardee in Athletics) and Sh. Asif Jalal, IPS, Inspector General, Punjab Frontier.

The run is open for participation by male and female candidates in two age groups above 40 years and below 40 years. The minimum age for participation is 18 years. It will be open for participation by Indian citizens as well as other Security Force personnel. The Marathon will start from three points at Amritsar in Punjab and will terminate at Attari border.

There will be attractive cash prizes for top five winners. The first prize will be Rs 1,00,000/- for Full Marathon, Rs. 50,000/- for Half Marathon and Rs.25,000/- for 10 km run for both male and female in both the age groups: However, there is no entry fee for students, border population and members of forces. BAFFLED BY THEIR CRUSHING DEFEAT, CONGRESS LEADERS USING DEFAMATION AS TOOL AGAINST THOSE WORKING FOR PUBLIC WELFARE: SAYS CM

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today said that baffled by their crushing defeat in the state assembly polls, held early this year, Congress leaders are now using the defamation as a tool against those working tirelessly for public welfare and progress of state. Interacting with the media here after appearing before a local court, the Chief Minister said that the leaders who had themselves betrayed the mandate of people by becoming turncoats for their vested personal interests are now filing defamation cases against us. He said that in reality these people are varying of the growing popularity of the state government in wake of its pro-people decision. Bhagwant Mann said these cases are being filed as a grudge against thumping verdict in favour of his party, which is working tirelessly for the well being of people. The Chief Minister said that such cases will not deter him for taking several decisions for the well being of Punjab and its people. Bhagwant Mann said that he is ready to face any such cases for the sake of Punjab. He said that it is ironic that those people who have ruined the country for long are now using defamation as a tool against those who are working for well being of people. The Chief Minister questioned that why defamation cases are not filed against those who have looted the country for several decades. Similarly, he said that why such cases are not being filed against those people who label true patriots as terrorists. Bhagwant Mann said that how those leaders who are working tirelessly for transforming the lives of people by mitigating the sufferings of people can be terrorists adding that unfortunately no defamation takes place against miscreants indulging in such mudslinging.   The Chief Minister said that he will appear before court whenever summons is issued against him. Bhagwant Mann said that he has full faith in the judicial system of the country. He said that the courts are highly respectable and they will adhere to every decision of the court. Slamming the Congress party, the Chief Minister said that these leaders have mercilessly plundered the wealth of the state. He said that after looting the public wealth now these leaders are joining the BJP in hope of safe haven, from clutches of law, for their misdeeds. However, he said that the people of state will never forgive these leaders for their sins.

World osteoporosis Day celebrated in PGIMER, Chandigarh

20th October is celebrated worldwide every year as the world osteoporosis Day. On this occasion, the Department of Endocrinology at PGIMER, Chandigarh conducted an osteoporosis awareness campaign in its New OPD premises on Thursday. The campaign was attended by people with osteoporosis and their relatives visiting the endocrinology OPD. Nearly 150 people attended the campaign. Headed by Professor Sanjay Kumar Bhadada, the doctors of the department talked about osteoporosis, its magnitude, symptoms, screening and treatment options available for the same. All the participants were provided with a free booklet entitled, “Osteoporosis-Karan and Nibaran” that highlights the day-to-day aspects involved in the prevention and management of osteoporosis. That fall prevention is a major and indispensable component of long-term osteoporosis care was emphasised by the doctors.

Students display Eco-friendly products at ‘Kala Kaushal Utsav’

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell  (IQAC Cell) of Dev Samaj College of Education, Chandigarh organized a unique event ‘Kala Kaushal Utsav’ at its premises, Sector 36­­-B here.


The event was inaugurated by Nirmal Singh Dhillon, Secretary, Dev Samaj and Chairman, Dev Samaj College of Education. The utsav  was graced by Dr Nemi Chand, State Liaison Officer, Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh and Prof. & Chairperson Dr. Kirandeep Singh, Department of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

As many as 35 stalls of organic food items, decorative items, eatables, photography and games were displayed in the event. The highlight of the event was live pottery, handmade candles and home décor made by the students. 

Appreciating the skills and efforts of the students, Dr Agnese Dhillon, Principal of Dev Samaj College said, “The main objective of this “Kala Kaushal Utsav” was to provide students with a great platform to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial skills.”

Students learnt pottery with full zeal at the live pottery station. Visitors  from outside of the college also portrayed their creativity by setting up stalls of various kinds.

It’s noteworthy that ‘Kala Kaushal Utsav’s’ theme was ‘environmentally friendly Diwali’. Notably, eco-friendly products were used by the students to showcase their creativity.

The event received an overwhelming response. The utsav concluded with the spirit of festivity.

ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF CLEAN WATER IS A TOP PRIORITY OF PUNJAB GOVERNMENT: JIMPA

Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab is committed to provide clean drinking water and sanitation facilities to the rural areas of Punjab. Department of Water Supply & Sanitation (DWSS) Punjab has initiated many large scale endeavorsto achieve this objective.

          Continuing the efforts to speed up implementation of water supply projects in the state, Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa chaired a high level meeting with the World Bank Team and Department officers, wherein he stressed the need to scale up implementation of the Water and Sanitation related projects, so that better service delivery can be ensured to the consumers at economical and affordable rates.

          World Bank team briefed the Minister about the help and financial assistance provided by it and explained that DWSS and World Bank have jointly done extensive efforts that have transformed the lives of rural people – by making drinking water available at their doorsteps, and reducing the disease burden.

          DK Tiwari, Principal Secretary DWSS apprised the Minister that the department has commissioned one large surface water supply project in Moga with the cost of Rs. 218 crore that is providing clean drinking water to nearly 3.54 lac residents of 85 villages of district Moga with the financial assistance by World Bank. Further, He also apprised that the department is also implementing 15 more such projects in districts Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Ferozpur, Fazilka, Hoshairpur, Patiala, Ropar and Fatehgarh Sahib. Of these, five projects are World Bank assisted and 10 projects are NABARD assisted. Total cost of these projects is Rs. 1700 Crore. These projects will provide safe drinking water to 24.42 lac people.

          Jimpa directed that these projects be commissioned as per schedule and maintained to the best standards ensuring sustainability by involving public participation and awareness campaign to educate public be launched. The Minister also instructed that the department should study best practices followed in other states for operation and maintenance and adopt these in Punjab to improve the overall O&M and sustainability of water supply schemes in the long run.

          He emphasized that the public and public representatives must be involved in the entire process of implementation of these projects, so that the benefit might reach at the grassroots level. He also envisioned that all rural citizens in Punjab should be provided with clean water supply from dawn to dusk. This would not only have health benefits but would considerably improve the standard of living in our villages.
