Chandigarh International Airport will be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh: Chautala

There has been a mutual agreement between the Government of Haryana and Government of Punjab to name the Chandigarh International Airport after the name of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala met Punjab Chief Minister, Sh. Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh on Saturday and agreed to name it ‘Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport’. After the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh is one such martyr of the country’s freedom struggle, who has inspired the youth of every generation. He said that the name of the Chandigarh International Airport will now be named after the great martyr Bhagat Singh and both the Punjab and Haryana Government have made mutual consensus on it.

Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that the collective contribution of Haryana Government, Punjab Government and Chandigarh Administration is involved in the construction and modernization of Chandigarh Airport and after expansion this airport is boosting the development and industrialization of this area. He said that since Haryana also had an equal share in its construction, the name of the city ‘Panchkula’ should also be added to its name. The Deputy Chief Minister said that he has sent a recommendation on behalf of Haryana Government to the Punjab Government. He added the same request will also be sent to the Central Government in this regard.

Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that in future, Chandigarh Airport will be a major airport of North India and it will witness progress along with fulfilling the needs of the, hence all the differences related to its naming should end soon.

HSLSA Executive Chairman inaugurated ADR Center in Rewari

Justice Augustine George Masih, Judge, Punjab  and  Haryana High Court and the Executive Chairman, Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HSLSA) today inaugurated the new building of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre of the Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HSLSA) at Rewari District Headquarters. ADR Centre to provide cheap, simple, quick and accessible justice.

During the inauguration, Sh. Justice Augustine George and Sh. Justice Manoj Bajaj also launched the special campaign ‘Aging with Dignity’ of HSLSA and released the poster on the Rights of Senior Citizens.

Mr. Subhas Mehla, Member Secretary, Haryana Legal Services Authority Secretary and District and Sessions Judge and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Varsha Jain gave information about these programmes.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Sh. Justice Augustine George Masih said that with the opening of this ADR Centre people can get cheap, simple, quick and accessible justice to settle their cases. This is the building of the Fourteenth ADR Centre at the district level in Haryana. Haryana is the leading state in the country in terms of  setting up a separate ADR Centre, added Sh. Justice Augustine George Masih.

Appealing for cooperation from the advocates, Sh. Justice Augustine George Masih said that together we have to ensure cheap, simple, quick and accessible justice to the needy.

Appreciating the Aging with Dignity campaign launched by the HSLSA, he said that it is a commendable initiative to honour senior citizens. He said that many schemes are being run by the government for senior citizens and they should take complete advantage of these schemes.

It is the responsibility of all of us that we give full respect to senior citizens and ensure the complete reach of the various welfare schemes being run by the state government to these elderly, said Sh. Justice Augustine George Masih.

Sh. Justice Manoj Bajaj said that the services provided through the ADR Centre will provide accessible, cheap and speedy justice to the complainants, which will save both money and time.

He said that due to the promotion of legal services, now people’s inclination towards Lok Adalats and ADR Center is increasing continuously, through which lakhs of pending cases of the state are being settled every year.

Sh. Vimal Kumar, District and Sessions Judge, while expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, Sh. Justice Augustine George Masih and Administrative Judge Manoj Bajaj said that the ADR building has been gifted in Rewari, and 92.7 percent of cases have been settled through Lok Adalats in the district, and now disputes can be settled through ADR Centre as well.

The office bearers of the District Bar Association also presented mementos to Sh. Justice Augustine George Masih and Sh. Justice Manoj Bajaj.

After the program, the message of environmental protection was also given by planting saplings on the premises of the  ADR Centre.

AFRICAN SWINE FEVER DETECTED IN SWINE SAMPLES OF PATIALA; PUNJAB DECLARED ‘CONTROLLED AREA’

Punjab Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Friday, informed that after ICAR-National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases, Bhopal has confirmed African swine fever in swine samples of district Patiala, the whole state of Punjab is declared as “Controlled Area” with the object of preventing, controlling, eradicating scheduled disease-African Swine Fever (ASF), exercising the powers u/s 6 of Chapter III of “The Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009.”

He said that a notification has been issued is this regard and it has come into force with immediate effect.

The Cabinet Minister said that a village Bilaspur and Sanauri Adda in District Patiala are hereby notified as “Epicenter” of the disease, adhering to the u/s 20 of Chapter III of the same Act.”

Mr. Bhullar further said that in compliance to Chapters 7 & 8 of “National Action Plan for Control, Containment and Eradication of African Swine Fever (June 2020)” of Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India; these areas are hereby declared “Infected Zone” (0-1 Km area around epicenter of disease) and “Surveillance Zone” (1-10 Km area around epicenter of disease). No live/dead Pig (including feral or wild pigs), unprocessed Pig Meat, Feed or any material/goods from the piggery farm/backyard piggery shall be taken out of or brought into the Infected Zone and no person shall bring or attempt to bring into market any pig or pig products which is known to be infected with the scheduled disease, said the Minister quoting notification, while adding that inter-state movement of any pig or its belongings should be strictly ban.

AMAN ARORA PAYS GLOWING TRIBUTES TO SHAHEED SANT HARCHAND SINGH LONGOWAL BY DONATING BLOOD ON HIS 37th DEATH ANNIVERSARY

Punjab Information and Public Relations, Housing and Urban Development and New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Mr Aman Arora today donated blood to pay glowing tribute to Shaheed Sant Harchand Singh Longowal during a mega blood donation camp organized at Anaj Mandi, Longowal to mark his 37th death anniversary.

While addressing people on this occasion, the Cabinet Minister said that the Punjab government under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann, a mega blood donation camp has been organised which is a befitting tribute to the martyrdom of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal. He added that the blood donated by the donors will be used to save the precious lives of the needy who will be fighting for life in hospitals.

The Minister, while paying tribute to Sant Harchand Singh Longowal, said that the martyrdom of those who sacrificed their lives for the service of humanity should never be forgotten. He said that the purpose of this blood donation camp organised by district administration and the district Red Cross Society was also to serve the humanity as every single drop of donated blood will be helpful in saving precious lives.

On this occasion, Mr. Aman Arora said that CM Bhagwant Mann led Punjab government has started several initiatives for the all-round development of Sunam Udham Singh Wala assembly constituency and the results would be visible soon on the ground. Longowal town will also be revamped as the development works would be accelerated here too, he added.

During the blood donation camp held at Anaj Mandi Longowal, Mr. Aman Arora also distributed certificates to the blood donating volunteers and encouraged them for the noble cause.

PATIALA DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY CONDUCTING E-AUCTION OF RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL SITES

Patiala Development Authority (PDA) is conducting e-auction of residential and commercial sites situated in different cities i.e. Patiala, Sangrur, Nabha and Amargarh. The auction commenced on 15th August, and  bidding will end at 3 pm on August 25.

Giving this information, an official spokesperson of the Housing and Urban Development Department said that this is an opportunity to own a house or start a business in these cities.

Details of the properties and process to participate in the e- auction is available on the e-auction portal www.puda.e-auctions.in, he added.

He informed that total of 280 properties have been put up for the e-auction. Out of this, commercial properties available for bidding include 58 shops, 55 booths, 33 SCOs, 6 single storey shops and 3 Shop-cum-Flats, besides 124 residential plots and one house.

Huge potential in medical technology sector in India: MTaI Chairman

“India has the potential to make great strides in the field of medical technology. Just as the pharmaceutical sector in India has made a lot of progress, similarly, a lot of progress can be made and production can be increased in the fields of medical devices and medical devices.”
This was stated by Pavan Choudary, Chairman of Medical Technology Association of India (MTaI ) while interacting with the media at a hotel in Panchkula on Saturday enroute Shimla to attend his alma mater Himachal Pradesh University’s mega Alumni Meet 2022. 
Choudary informed that India is one of the top destinations for medical devices, including pharmaceuticals. As far as the members of Medical Technology Association of India are concerned, they have invested heavily and set up many large R&D centers in India.
Presently CEO of a French MNC , Bygon India, Choudary further said that there is also a medical device park coming up at Nalagarh and the pharma sector is already much better here. Similarly, three more medical device parks are being set up in the country. This will help in increasing the export of medical devices and other equipment from the country, he said.
He said that along with healthcare, renewable energy, electric vehicles, real estate, smart cities, defense and aerospace also have great potential. In these sectors, Indian private sector companies are introducing new products and services by doing R&D at a very fast pace. His clients include Indian companies as well as global corporations.
Speaking about the  need to have an R&D ecosystem, Choudary said that in the evolving scenario of geo-politics, the friend-shoring trend has evolved which will impact geo-commerce in the coming time. In the future, friendly countries will trade and do business with each other.

To protect its security and economic interests, India has to set up R&D for those technologies which are not accessible to us in this peripheral. The Indian Government has already recognised these challenges and is coming up with an R&D policy framework which will help many sectors like medical technology, electric vehicles, aerospace, defence, renewable energy, etc to flourish without any hindrance, he asserted.

1494.76 crore rupees pension amount has been distributed to 20.78 lakh elderly beneficiaries till the month of July: Dr. Baljit Kaur

Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government has distributed Rs 1494.76 crore of old age pension to pensioners till the month of July.

Giving more information in this regard, Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the government is committed to the welfare of people of all classes. She said that there are a total of 30,67,927 beneficiaries of various categories that  includes the elderly, disabled, widows and destitute women and dependent children.

The Cabinet Minister said that there are a total of 20,78,886 senior beneficiaries in the state, to whom 1494.76 crores of pension amount has been distributed till the month of July.

She said that the state government has reserved a total budget of Rs 4647.82 crore for various pension schemes, out of which a budget of Rs 3100.27 crore has been provided for old age pension during the current year.

The Cabinet Minister said that  men aged 65 or above and women aged 58 or above, whose annual income does not exceed Rs 60,000, are eligible to avail the benefit of this scheme.

The minister said that the financial assistance is paid directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, which are being linked with Aadhaar. She said, so far 96 percent of the bank accounts have been linked with Aadhaar.

Meet Hayer calls sports department and associations to work together to make Punjab a leading state in sports

Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Saturday called the sports department and sports associations to work together to make Punjab again a leading state in sports. 

He said this during a meeting with office bearers of Punjab Olympic Association at Punjab Olympic Bhawan, Mohali today. 

The Sports Minister said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also a keen interest in the sports and he is leaving no stone unturned to make Punjab the number one state again.

Best wishing the sports contingent of Punjab in the 36th National Games to be held in Gujarat next month, Sports Minister handed over a check of Rs 50 lakh for National Games and assured to take up the matter with CM Mann for further assistance. 

The Sports Minister said that the state government is formulating a new sports policy in which emphasis will be given on giving cash prizes to sportsmen, providing jobs, encouraging young sportsmen. Under the commitment, ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ is being organized by the Sports Department, which will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister at Jalandhar on August 29. About 5 lakh players will participate in these sports competitions, after which the pool of winning players of the state level tournament will be formed who will go on to compete at the national and international level. 

He also extended an invitation letter to the Punjab Olympic Association and all sports associations.

Meet Hayer said that Punjab was number one in national sports in 2001 but then the state continued to lag behind. The state government will now formulate a new sports policies and 220 coaches are being recruited and more posts of coaches will be created and posted at the village, block and sub division level to booster sports department. 

He further said that there is no shortage of talent in Punjab, only skills need to be polished. Sports budget is being increased by the state government. Priority will be given to providing sports equipment. 

A review is being done to see the sports structure at the ground level. He said that the solution to the drug problem will be only by creating a sports environment. The sports  department is paying special attention to channelize the energy of the youth towards sports. The players who win medals at the national and international level will be given permanent employment. The diet is being increased. If necessary, the sports department will take the services of foreign coaches.

Earlier, the president of Punjab Olympic Association Brahm Mahindra announced that Sports Minister Meet Hayer will be made the pattern of the association, after which the sports minister was honored by the association. The executive of the association passed an unanimous resolution on this.

The Senior Vice President of the Association, Rajdeep Singh Gill, praised the Sports Minister, Meet Hayer, for personally encouraging the players and showing interest in sports and spoke of taking efforts together with the Sports Department and the Association to take Punjab forward in sports.

Punjab Olympic Association Secretary General Raja KS Sidhu welcomed the Sports Minister by thanking him on his arrival at the Olympic Bhawan.

Haryana Government is committed and fully prepared to wipe out LSD from the state: Haryana Chief Secretary

Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that the state government is committed and fully prepared to contain the spread of lumpy skin disease in cattle across Haryana. He directed the concerned officers to ensure 100 percent vaccination of cattle within next seven days  across the state. He informed that at present, 3 lakh doses of vaccination are available in the state, which will be used in 2 days. Apart from this, 5 lakh more doses will be available in the coming week.

            The Chief Secretary today presided over an important meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of the state through video conferencing regarding containing the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease in the state.

            He directed the officers that vaccination should be done expeditiously to prevent the further spread of LSD. Amidst the prevailing situation of LSD, he directed the officers to maintain calm and stress-free atmosphere in the state. He directed the Animal Husbandry Department to issue an advisory with immediate effect today and make citizens aware that milk of infected cows can also be used after boiling it.

Disposal of Carcass/ Dead Animals

 The Chief Secretary said that the carcasses of dead animals should be disposed off according to the new guidelines issued by the Animal Husbandry Department. He said that the carcasses of animals should not be left in the open in any circumstances. He emphasized that taking precautionary measures, the district administration should carry out the work of digging 8 to 10 feet deep pits for burying the carcasses of animals that died due to Lumpy Skin Disease so that the disease does not spread to other healthy animals. Ensuring cleanliness in all the Gaushalas of the State, he said that Fogging, Spraying of particular disinfectants and proper sanitization should be done in all Gaushalas and villages to control and check the flies and mosquitos acting as vectors for spread of LSD.

 Impose ban on inter-state and inter-district movement of cattle
 Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal directed the Deputy Commissioners to restrict the movement of cows taken by the cowherds from one place to another in the respective districts. There should also be a complete ban on inter-state and inter-district movement. Apart from this, cattle fair and sale of animals etc. should also be completely banned. He directed that the additional land should be identified to isolate the infected animals so that the disease does not affect the healthy animals. He said that the District Deputy Commissioners should ensure strict monitoring in their respective districts that the infected animal should not be left untreated amidst the situation of LSD.

Utilizing the services of volunteers and Gau-Sewaks to control and contain LSD in the State for vaccination

 The Chief Secretary said that the services of volunteers and Gau-Sewaks should also be utilized for vaccination of animals. Apart from this, cooperation of faculty, students and interns of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar must also be taken. He said that there should not be any kind of misconception related to this disease among the public. For this, the District Deputy Commissioners and Animal Husbandry Department should provide appropriate information to the people.

 Issue advisory for farmers

            The Chief Secretary said that the department should immediately issue advisories for farmers related to prevention and care of infected animals. Farmers should be aware that there is no need to panic. The disease is Non – Zoonotic i.e. it does not spread from animal to humans so they should take care of their livestock without fear. Isolate affected animals from other animals, added the Chief Secretary.

 8 districts affected, 30,225 animals infected, 16,939 animals recovered from LSD in the state

             In the meeting, the Chief Secretary was apprised that 8 districts namely Yamunanagar, Ambala, Karnal, Sirsa, Kurukshetra, Fatehabad, Kaithal and Panchkula have been affected the most due to LSD in the state. So far 30,225 animals have been infected in 2419 villages. Out of these, 16,939 animals have been recovered and 211 have died. At present there are 13,265 active cases of LSD. All arrangements have been made for its prevention. First, vaccination will be done as per the ring-vaccination concept in the vicinity of the place from where the infected animal is reported and a 3 ml dose will be applied to the infected animals. Apart from this, a dosage of 1 ml will be applied to the animals at other villages or areas.

 Data related to disease to be updated every day .

            While directing further, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that the data of affected animals should be updated every day. Apart from this, the data of the animals that are dead due to Lumpy Skin Disease should also be updated immediately. The information about the availability and demand of vaccination should also be updated daily on the portal.

             In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sh. PK Das, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar, Commissioner and Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Sh. Pankaj Yadav, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister-II, Smt. Ashima Brar, Director General of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Dr.  Birender Singh and other senior officers were also present.
