UHBVN Lineman held taking Rs 6500 bribe

Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has arrested a lineman of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.6500 in lieu of installation of a new electricity meter.

While giving information here today, a spokesperson of the Bureau said that the arrested lineman in the bribery case has been identified as Attar Singh, who is posted in Sonipat district. The accused lineman has been arrested on the complaint of Rajesh, a resident of village Bhadana in Sonipat.

When the accused demanded money in lieu of installation of a meter, the complainant in his complaint addressed to the bureau informed that he works as a labourer and deposited the prescribed fee online for the installation of an electricity meter in his house located in Housing Board, Sector 23, Sonepat. Despite this, the lineman asked for Rs 7000 to get the electricity meter installed. Later the deal was settled at Rs 6500.

The spokesman said that after verifying the facts, a raid was conducted and accused lineman was caught red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 6500.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused and further investigation is being done.

Applications invited for Sports Awards-2022.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has invited applications for Sports Awards-2022.

 The application must be submitted online by September 20. Official notification in this regard has been uploaded on www.yas.nic.in website.

Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that applications are invited from eligible sportspersons, coaches, entities, and universities for sports awards. This year onwards, applications will be submitted through online mode using dbtyas-sports.gov.in portal. The applicants eligible in accordance with the award guidelines are permitted to self-apply, without the recommendation of the authorities or persons.

He said that Sports Awards are given every year to recognize and reward excellence in sports. They include Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, Dhyan Chand Award, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar, and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy. Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award is given for the spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson over a period of four years.

47 teachers will be given award on Teacher’s Day.

Haryana Government has announced State Teachers Award-2021.  A total of 47 teachers will be given this award by the government in a function organized on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.

A government spokesperson said that these include four principals, one high school headmaster, 13 PGTs, four primary school headmasters, two Sanskrit, three Hindi, two drawing, one science, two social studies, one DPE, two primary headmasters  and 12 primary school teachers.

As an award, each awardee teacher will be given a cash prize of Rs one lakh, a silver medal, a certificate, a shawl and two advance increments along with dearness allowance for future service.

Haryana to draft a plan for Installation of Robust CCTV Surveillance System in all cities, Chief Secretary

Amid keeping a check on State’s crime graph, Haryana Government will draft a plan for Installation of Robust CCTV Surveillance System in all cities.

This was stated by Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal while presiding over a meeting held here today.

The Chief Secretary directed the officers to finalize comprehensive components required for technology solution for setting up surveillance in cities. Besides this, he further directed the officers concerned to prepare a plan for traffic management system, finalizing uniform specifications of the tender for installation of e-surveillance, CCTV cameras.

A comprehensive study of various new and unique initiatives is essential for document preparation. For this, presentations on various aspects such as challenges and drawbacks should be taken in coordination with the officers handling such projects in different cities like Faridabad, Karnal and Gurugram.

Since the technology is continuously upgrading therefore such agencies should also be consulted which are already working in these areas. He also directed the officers to study the Chandigarh and Delhi models for this robust surveillance system.

ULB designated as nodal department for the execution of installation work

        It was informed in the meeting that the Urban Local Bodies Department (ULB) has been designated as the nodal department for installation of CCTV cameras with e-surveillance system. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be prepared by this Department prescribing the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder department to ensure optimum use of technology. Apart from this, the work of installation and management of CCTV cameras will be done by the ULB in coordination with various departments.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Sh. T.V.S.N Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Director General of Police, Sh. PK Agarwal, Principal Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Sh. Arun Kumar and other officers also remained present in the meeting.

Identify backward areas of Haryana and prepare parameters of development in the identified areas: Chief Secretary

Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal while giving directions to the officers of the State Government said that backward areas should be identified in rural and urban areas of all the districts of the state and those areas should be developed by preparing development parameters in the identified areas. 

        The Chief Secretary was holding a meeting with the officials of Urban Local Bodies and Development and Panchayats Department here today.

        Sh. Kaushal also directed the officers that competitions should also be organized among various stakeholders to speed up the development works in such areas so that the cooperation of the local people can be taken in the ongoing development works.  He said that 5-7 parameters should be set for the development of these areas and work be done with focus so that development can be accelerated.  Apart from this, he said that those who do good work in recovery of property tax should also be honoured with various awards.

        After this, the Chief Secretary also reviewed the projects implemented under Faridabad and Karnal Smart City projects.

        In the meeting, Sh. Kaushal directed the officers to give impetus to the Smart City projects of Faridabad and Karnal and said that micro-management should be done for the implementation of these projects and at the same time, work should be done by fixing milestones and timings so that the projects can be completed on time.

About 80 percent work of Water Supervising Control and Data Acquisition

        It was informed in the meeting that 80 percent work of Water Supervising Control and Data Acquisition for transmission water line in Pan City Faridabad has been completed and this work will be completed by the end of December. Badkhal Lake Front and Marina Development Agreement, Strengthening of Badkhal Lake, Construction of Commercial Complex on Ambedkar Road in Old Sabzi Mandi, Additional Collateral Roads, Police Line Road, Old Sher Shah Suri Road and Link Road Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model work on the project like treatment of waste water by constructing 08 decentralized sewage treatment plants has been started.

        He was informed in the meeting that under the Karnal Smart City project, 10,000 LED lights have been installed so far under the LED street light project and 25,000 LED lights will be installed by the end of November.  In addition, construction of elevated road along railway road and bus stand road and System Integrator (SI) has been selected and integrated for maintenance, development, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, integration and operation on EPC mode under Smart City Mission.  Maintenance of Water Utility Management System (SCADA), redevelopment of sports facilities at Karna Stadium, development projects in Shakti Colony on EPC mode are underway and will be completed on time.

        Additional Chief Secretary, Development and Panchayats Department, Sh. Anil Malik, Principal Secretary, Urban Local Bodies, Sh. Arun Kumar, Director, Sh. DK Behera and other senior officers were present in the meeting.

Relief in surcharge to electricity consumers: Power Minister

Haryana Power Minister, Sh. Ranjit Singh has said that Chief Minister, Sh.  Manohar Lal has given a big gift to all the domestic categories of consumers who are not able to pay their electricity bills due to any reason during Covid-19 by giving in-principle approval to not levy surcharge.

        Addressing a press conference in his office here today, the Power Minister said that now instead of surcharge, consumers will be able to pay their bills by calculating the annual rate of simple interest of 10 percent.  Consumers paying one time bill will get an additional 5% discount on the interest rate.  He said that this scheme will continue for three months.

Consumers can also deposit their amount in three installments

        This one-time surcharge waiver scheme will be applicable to the consumers of rural household, urban, domestic, agriculture and poultry categories.  After levying surcharge on the first bill, the amount increases two to three times.

Electricity Panchayats will be organized to solve the problems of consumers

        Sh. Ranjit Singh said that to solve the problems of the consumers on the spot, the department will organize electricity panchayats, which he himself will start from Adampur Power House in Hisar district on September 6.  He informed that work is underway on the plan to install smart meters in five cities.  Orders were given to buy 10 lakh smart meters, out of which 3.5 lakh smart meters have been purchased.  

        He said that the consumers should pay their electricity bills through e-pay, a study is being done in this direction.

Government ready to conduct Panchayat elections

Responding to a question regarding Panchayat elections, the Power Minister said that the government is ready for this, as soon as the next comment in this regard comes from the court, we are ready to conduct the elections.  He said that decentralization of power is the hallmark of our democracy.  The Vidhan Sabha is also the property of the people, from the Gram Panchayat to the Parliament, only the elected representatives of the people take up the problems of the people and get them resolved.

Work is also being done on prison reform

        Sh. Ranjit Singh said that he is also in charge of the prison department. In the last almost three years, a unique initiative has been taken to improve the level of jails.  A workshop of Jail Superintendents and Deputy Superintendents was organized in the past, in which Director General of Jail, former DGP, Sh. KP Singh, DGP of Tihar Jail were also called.

It was also agreed in the meeting that Scorpio car would be given to the jail superintendents and deputy superintendents

        Similarly, the time of dinner given to prisoners has also been changed, in the past, the prisoners were given food at sunset which was going on since the year 1947 because there was no electricity system in jails at that time but now modern concept of prisons has arrived.  Now the time of dinner will be from seven to eight in the evening in the summer and from six to seven in the evening in the winter.      

Girdawari is being conducted in Haryana from August 5 to assess crop damage caused by water logging, which will continue till Sept 5

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that Girdawari is being conducted in the entire state from August 5 to assess the crop damage caused by water logging, which will continue till September 5.  Farmers themselves can also upload their crop loss details on the portal.  Compensation will be given for the loss of all crops in the field.

The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting in Rampura Dhillon village of Sirsa district today.  During this, on the demand made by the villagers regarding the village, the Deputy Chief Minister assured that all the demands will be fulfilled. I will leave no stone unturned in giving the grant, I will answer the demand.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the government is completely serious about the damage caused to the fields due to waterlogging.  He said that if the farmer suspects that his girdawari is not correct, then he should go to the Meri Fasal-Mera Byora portal and upload the photo of his crop loss on the compensation portal.  Patwari will report the crop loss again.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that the state government is going to take a big step that in case of loss of house of the poor due to rains, Rs. 80,000 will be given to them.  For this the law will be amended so that the poor can get the  benefits.  To simplify this compensation process, the concerned Deputy Commissioner will be empowered so that the eligible person can get it at the earliest.  He said that earlier there was a provision of compensation only on the damage caused to the house during the floods and there was no provision of compensation for the damage to the room built on the tubewell in the field.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that in three and a half years, we should take such steps, which have directly benefited the weaker sections. In one year’s time, we made provision for skilled employment. In skilled employment, the family whose income is less than Rs. 1.80 lakh will be given priority.

Haryana Government committed to uplift every family and raise the economic level of the last person standing in line: Chief Minister

In line with the commitment of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal to uplift every family of the society as well as to uplift the economic status of the last person standing in line, the state government has prepared a comprehensive action plan under which education, health, all-round development and welfare of every citizen will be ensured with emphasis on security, self-respect and self-reliance.  For this, the data of citizens collected in the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) has been divided age-wise into 5 categories and the responsibility of each category has been assigned to a department.  Each department will keep a complete record of the benefits of all schemes and services according to age group, education, health and employment etc.

The Chief Minister was presiding over the review meeting regarding the PPP here today.  Administrative Secretaries of various departments were also present in the meeting.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that the responsibility of children up to the age of 6 years has been entrusted to the Women and Child Development Department.  The department will pay special attention to the elementary education and nutrition of these children.  In addition, the department will also keep a track of every child whether that child stays at home, goes to anganwadi or school till the age of 6 years and ensure that he or she is getting the required nutritious food.  He said that if children get good nutrition and education at the very beginning, then their foundation will be strong and they will move forward in a positive direction in life.

He directed the officers to prepare and implement an action plan soon for all these activities.  Apart from this, he also directed to expedite the process of setting up creches for day care of children.

The Chief Minister said that school education is equally as important as elementary education.  Therefore, with the vision that no child should be deprived of education, the responsibility of children in the age group of 6 years to 18 years has been entrusted to the School Education Department. The Department will keep special track of school dropouts along with providing education to every child, so that the drop out rate can be reduced.  The department will have the data of every child whether he is taking education in school or ITI or any other institute.  He directed the officers to set up a special cell for tracking and to prepare SOPs.  Similarly, the responsibility of children in the age group of 18 years to 24 years has been entrusted to the Higher Education Department and in the age group of 25 to 60 years to the Employment Department. These departments will lay emphasis on the employment of youth as well as their skill development.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that the Parivar Pehchan Patra Authority will send data to these departments every month.  The department will implement these activities at its level.  He said that the present state government is moving ahead with a transparent system and is providing benefits of all government facilities and schemes to beneficiaries at their doorstep.

The Chief Minister directed that a Grievance Redressal Cell should be set up at the district level under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner to remove the difficulties faced by the citizens in the application of the PPP if the data is incorrect or changes are to be made in the data.  It was informed in the meeting that soon a chatbot will be started on the Parivar Pehchan Patra portal, in which citizens will be able to have their grievances resolved. The chatbot will be available in Hindi, Punjabi and English languages.

It was informed in the meeting that the data of 70 lakh families and 2.80 crore members have been updated on the Parivar Pehchan Patra portal.  Verification of caste, date of birth, income of maximum families has been completed.  Through PPP, the old age pension of more than 11,000 citizens has been made without any hassle or making rounds of government offices.  Apart from this, about 1.63 lakh Scheduled Castes and more than 24,000 Backward Classes Caste Certificates have also been generated through PPP.  Citizens have received a lot of benefits from this.

Haryana Chief Minister congratulates the players on National Sports Day

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the state, especially the sportspersons, on the occasion of National Sports Day.

        In a message issued here today, the Chief Minister said that the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand, who is known as the ‘Juggler of Hockey’ in the sports world, is celebrated as National Sports Day.  He said that Haryana’s policy of ‘Padak Lao, Padak Badhao’ is being appreciated all over the country.  This is increasing the enthusiasm of the players towards the game even more.

        The Chief Minister said that now Haryana is being called the players’ mine in the country and abroad.  The players here have proved their mettle in all kinds of sports.  He said that it is also a matter of pride for the players of Haryana that the Minister of State for Sports has also been a hockey player himself.

NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH WILL BE CELEBRATED IN THE STATE FROM SEPTEMBER 1 TO SEPTEMBER 30: DR. BALJIT KAUR

The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan is continuously working for the welfare of children and women. Under this series, National Nutrition Month is being celebrated by the state government from 1st September 2022 to 30 September 2022 in the state. This information was given here today by the Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that this nutrition month and fortnight is celebrated every year by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) with the participation of all partner ministries/departments.

She said that activities related to women and their health, child and education and also water conservation and management, nutritional food for women and children will be conducted during the National Nutrition Month.
