PUNJAB POLICE GEAR UP TO ENSURE PEACEFUL OBSERVANCE OF ‘OPERATION BLUESTAR ANNIVERSARY’

CHANDIGARH, June 1

          Keeping in view the Operation Bluestar Anniversary— also known as Ghallughara Week, Punjab Police have beefed up the security across the state to ensure peaceful observance of this week.

          On Thursday, Police teams led by CPs/SSPs have also conducted Flag Marches in the sensitive and vulnerable areas of their concerned districts as a measure to instil the confidence among the general public. As many as 110 flag marches were conducted covering 192 sensitive/vulnerable areas in all the 28 Police districts.

          The exercise was conducted on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav as part of the ongoing drive to make Punjab safe and secure as per vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

          Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that the CPs/SSPs were directed to conduct Flag Marches in the sensitive areas of their respective districts. Police teams have also apprehended 368 suspicious persons during flag marches.

          He said that the exercise was aimed to boost the confidence of the general public, besides, preparing police personnel to tackle any untoward situation.

          “Punjab Police will ensure peaceful observance of the Operation Bluestar Anniversary, for which foolproof arrangements are in place and adequate security has also been deployed across the state,” said Arpit Shukla.

          The Special DGP said that deployment of police teams have also been intensified at vital places including bus stands, railway stations and other sensitive areas to prevent intrusion of anti-social elements.

          Meanwhile, CPs/SSPs have also been asked to intensify Police nakas in their jurisdictions and conduct checking of all the entering/exiting suspicious vehicles.

10 shooters of Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar gang arrested with illegal weapons

Chandigarh, June 1

In a major break-through, Haryana Police have arrested 10 shooters associated with notorious gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar from Gurugram district.

The police seized four pistols, 28 live cartridges, two vehicles (a Scorpio and a Honda City), and seven police uniforms from the possession of the accused. One of the vehicles recovered was reported stolen from Delhi.

Sharing the information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that arrested accused were identified as Rakesh Kumar alias Anil, Harjot Singh alias Leela, Ajay Isharwalia alias Punjabi, Prince alias Golu, Joginder alias Joga, Sandeep alias Deep, and Sinderpal alias Bittu. All the above seven accused were arrested on specific input from Mehandwada, Bhondsi, Gurugram while they were plotting to commit a crime.

After interrogating them, their three other companions named Dharmendra alias Dharma, Deepak alias Dilawar, and Bharat were also apprehended near Rajiv Chowk Devi Lal Stadium.

During the interrogation, it was revealed that the arrested individuals were active shooters for Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar gangs. They had come to Gurugram to carry out a major dacoity and kidnapping. Their plan involved posing as police officers, with Joginder alias Joga acting as a fake police inspector, and the other members wearing police uniforms during the crime. The intention was to kidnap someone and demand a ransom of crores of rupees. However, the police managed to apprehend them before they could execute their plan.

The accused individuals confessed that they carried out these crimes under the instructions of Goldie Brar, Rohit Godara, and Veeru, who are believed to be residing abroad. They had brought police uniforms, belts, shoes, and other items to facilitate their operations in Gurugram. The gang members maintained regular contact with Goldie Brar and others abroad, following their instructions to carry out kidnappings and collect ransom. Police were able to arrest them before they could carry out the planned incident.

It was also revealed that multiple cases have been registered against the arrested individuals, including charges of robbery, dacoity, attempted murder, theft, assault, possession of illegal weapons etc. These cases have been filed in various districts of Haryana, including Bhiwani, Panchkula, Sirsa, Ambala, Gurugram as well as Mohali (Punjab), and Rajasthan.

Here is some information about the gang members:

1.     Jogendra alias Joga: He is the leader of the arrested gang members and is associated with the gangs of Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar. He hails from Baddunai in Bhiwani district and has more than 15 charges against him, including robbery, dacoity, attempted murder, and extortion. Jogendra has been to jail multiple times and served a five-year sentence in Ambala Jail from 2017 to October 2021. He was released from jail in 2021 and was arrested again in February 2022 but obtained bail after about 35 days. He has been absconding since then and has not appeared in court. During his stay in Patiala Jail, he met Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members and after that he became an active member of this gang.

2.     Harjot Singh alias leela: He is originally from village Badraklai in Moga district, Punjab. He has six cases registered against him in Badhni Kalan Moga police station, including charges of assault, attempted murder, and drug-related offenses.

3.     Sinderpal alias Bittu: He belongs to village Kalwanu in Patiala district, Punjab. Three cases, including dacoity and drug offenses, have been registered against him in Patiala.

4.     Sandeep alias Deep: He is from Sisai village in Hisar. He has been charged with attempt to murder.

5.     Ajay Isharwalia alias Punjabi: He is from Isharwal in Bhiwani and also faces charges.

A case has been registered against all the arrested accused. The police are conducting thorough interrogations of the arrested accused to gather more information.

PUNJAB-HARYANA MEETS OVER GRANTS FOR PANJAB UNIVERSITY

Chandigarh, June 1

          Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to avert any change in the nature and character of the Panjab University, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the university is heritage of the state and any sort of change in it will not be tolerated.

          The Chief Minister, who participated in a meeting with the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh Banwari Lal Purohit and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar here today, said that the Punjab government is committed to safeguard the rights of the state and its people. Bhagwant Mann, who firmly placed on record the facts pertaining to the university, said that this premier educational institute has an emotional place in the hearts of the people of Punjab on account of historical, cultural and provincial reasons. He said that Panjab University is a symbol of Punjab’s legacy and is synonymous with the name of the State.

           The Chief Minister said that the University caters only to the state of Punjab and its capital Chandigarh. Citing the history of the University, its constitution, its ethnic, socio-cultural and historical roots as well as its faculty and students who hail primarily from the state of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann said that it is important that the present legal and administrative status of the Panjab University should be preserved. He reminded that at the time of the reorganization of the State of Punjab in 1966, Panjab University was declared as an ‘Inter State Body Corporate’ under section 72(1) of the Punjab Reorganization Act 1966 enacted by the Parliament.

          The Chief Minister said that ever since its inception, the Panjab University has been continuously and uninterruptedly functioning in the State of Punjab. Bhagwant Mann recalled that it was shifted from Lahore, the then capital of Punjab, to Hoshiarpur and then to Chandigarh the present capital of Punjab. He said that at present 175 colleges of Punjab situated in the districts of Fazilka, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Moga, Sri Muktsar Sahib and S.B.S Nagar are affiliated with the Panjab University.

Haryana Chief Minister said that the nine years of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s tenure has been dedicated to ‘Jan seva’. He while rising over political ideology has always worked for the Nation, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

        “The Prime Minister puts the country first and everything else second. With this pure intention,  he is working assiduously to strengthen the nation on the world map and we will undoubtedly realize the Prime Minister’s goal of transforming India from a  developing country to a developed nation upon the conclusion of 100 years of independence in  Amrit Kaal,” said Sh. Manohar  Lal while speaking at the programme, Maha Sampark Abhiyan held here today to celebrate the successful nine years of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi-led government.

        The Chief Minister said that in these nine years, on several occasions, every Indian felt proud, because over the past nine years, the Prime Minister had visited many nations around the world to restore India’s status as a global power. 

        “The image that India has developed on a global scale now is also turning out to be advantageous to the countrymen.  As a result of the Prime Minister’s rising stature around the world, even the presidents of big nations have started referring to Modi as the ‘Boss’,” asserted Sh. Manohar Lal.

        The Chief Minister shared that he and the Prime Minister share a close bond.  They have worked together for a very long time. 

        “During this period, while working with the Prime Minister, I used to closely observe that for him India was always first,  while for leaders of other parties, the slogan was “Me first”, said Sh. Manohar  Lal.

        He said that Sh. Narendra Modi is such an inspirational leader who never hesitates to introduce various public-friendly experiments. 

        “The Prime Minister has always given consideration to the wellbeing of the nation’s citizens, its cultural heritage, and its future.  Instead of being a politician, we are proud to have a Prime Minister who is a ‘True Statesman’, who considers the future,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

        The Chief Minister stated Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, which was launched by Prime Minister in the year 2015 highlights Prime Minister’s concern for eradicating social taboos. With the help of the society, this campaign has received tremendous success, he added.

        “Mann Ki Baat programme is another such example, as in this programme, the Prime Minister never talks about politics rather he highlights the talent and skill of the countrymen living in far-flung areas. This programme is a hit among the citizens as it has successfully aired 100 episodes, which already is a record,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

After Independence, India has got a leader who has a vision of ‘Changing India’

        The Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that Prime Minister always works sensitively and has consistently strived to uplift the last mile citizen while upholding the spirit of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Antyodaya Darshan.

        He said that while many leaders, freedom fighters, and countrymen made supreme sacrifices for India’s freedom, but India never got any leader like Sh. Narendra Modi, who has a vision of changing India.

Central Government working on 5S strategy

        The Chief Minister stated that the Central Government, under the competent leadership of the Prime Minister is working on Antyodaya Utthan as well as the 5S strategy – shiksha (education), swasthya (health), suraksha (security), swavlamban (self-reliance) and swabhiman (self-respect). The National Education Policy-2020, which has been put into effect across the country, aims to awaken the national spirit in children by combining new technology with traditional teaching methods.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Former Minister and State BJP President, Sh. O.P. Dhankar said that in these nine years, everyone has seen how India has emerged as a strong nation on the world map.

UPA’s tenure was worst decade for India and Indians, Sh. Rajeev Chandrasekhar

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Sh. Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the Congress tenure was really the worst decade for India and Indians from amongst all the other bad decades in the history of Independent India.

        “Congress tenure is termed as India’s Lost Decade”. 2G, CWG, coal scam etc were the milestones of the UPA’s lost decade,” said Sh. Sh. Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

        He said that it was only because of these anti-public friendly policies and corrupt government that in the year 2014, to make up for the lost decade, the citizens of India voted for change and gave a resounding mandate to Narendra Modi.

        “In these nine years, countless reforms and governance initiatives have been successfully implemented across the country that has steered India into its current strength,” he added.

Two Home Guard Officials Apprehended for Bribery Charges

The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Clerk and a Peon from the Home Guard department in Faridabad on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 2500.

                    The ACB spokesperson shared this information today, shedding light on the unlawful activities conducted by the accused.

                    The arrested accused have been identified as Jitender, serving as a Clerk, and Vijender Phawa, working as a Peon. Acting promptly on a complaint filed by Vishal Verma, a resident of Nangla Enclave, Faridabad, the ACB took swift action to apprehend the accused officials.

                    It was reported that both Jitender and Vijender had demanded a bribe of Rs 2500 from Vishal Verma, who is a Home Guard volunteer, in exchange for his re-enrollment in the Home Guard. The ACB team, acting on this complaint, promptly organized a raid to catch the accused in the act. The raid conducted by the ACB team led to the arrest of both officials while they were accepting the bribe. The entire operation was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, ensuring transparency and fairness.

                    A case has been registered against the accused individuals at the Faridabad ACB police station. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, as the ACB aims to gather all relevant evidence to support the charges brought against them.

                    The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau reiterates its commitment to combat corruption and maintain integrity within public institutions. This arrest serves as a stern warning to individuals engaged in corrupt practices that they will be held accountable for their actions. In addition, the ACB encourages citizens to report any instances of corruption promptly, as it plays a vital role in eradicating this menace from society.

CM GIVES AN ULTIMATUM TO THE ILLEGAL ENCROACHERS ON THE GOVERNMENT LAND

 Rolling the wheels for removing illegal encroachments on the government land, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday gave an ultimatum to the encroachers of government land to vacate the encroachments by May 31 or face the action. In a statement issued here today, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed for freeing the land from illegal encroachments. He bemoaned that during the tenure of the successive governments in the state, the affluent people had illegally encroached the precious government land by violating the norms, which is unwarranted and undesirable. However, Bhagwant Mann said that from day one after assuming the charge of office, his government had adopted a zero tolerance policy towards illegal encroachments. The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that the state government has so far freed more than 9000 acres of government land from the illegal encroachers. He said that this momentum will be continued further and every inch of government land under illegal encroachment will be vacated by all means. Bhagwant Mann asked the illegal encroachers to vacate the land under their possession by May 31 else the government will get it freed on its own. The Chief Minister said that a massive anti-encroachment drive by the state government will be started from June 1 to remove these encroachments. He said that no one, however affluent he may be, will be spared during this drive to be started in larger public interest. However, Bhagwant Mann categorically said that people residing on such land, if any, should not worry as they will not be dislocated during the drive.

Punjab Government’s Shagun Scheme Grants Rs 51,000 to construction Workers for their Daughters’ Marriage:  Anmol Gagan Maan

      The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is committed to the welfare of all sections of the state. To achieve the same objective, the Punjab government has implemented various labour welfare schemes for the social and economic advancement of the construction workers.          On Friday, Minister for Labour, Anmol Gagan Mann, highlighted the Shagun Scheme of the state government. She explained that any construction workers registered  in Punjab are eligible to avail an amount of Rs 51,000 under the Shagun scheme of Punjab Building and other Construction Workers Board (BOCW Board) for their daughters’ marriage. This scheme can be availed by construction worker for the marriage of up to 2 daughters.          Furthermore, Minister Mann explained that if a female construction worker is registered as a beneficiary with the BOCW board, she is also entitled to avail the Shagun amount for her own marriage, provided that her registered parents have not previously claimed the benefit for her marriage.          Minister told that any registered construction worker can apply to avail Sagun scheme within six months after the marriage of his daughter. She said that to validate the marriage, it is necessary to submit the certificate issued by the Marriage Registration Authority alongwith the application form.          She said that Punjab government is committed to empowering construction workers and ensuring their financial well-being.

No legal action will be taken against encroachers who release government land till May 31: Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

            Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that if any person who have illegally encroached the government panchayat land, vacated the possession by May 31, no legal action will be taken against them.          Addressing a press conference at the local Punjab Bhavan, he said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has already announced that the state government is committed to freeing the land from illegal encroachments and the affluent people who have violated the rules and encroached on expensive government lands will not be spared.          Dhaliwal said that appropriate action will be taken from June 1 against those who will not vacate the lands by May 31. He said that many people have been encroaching on government lands for 30 years and if such people still not vacate the land after the appeal of the Chief Minister, then the state government will take strict legal action against them.          He further said that the state government’s target is to vacate 6000 acres of land by June 10 this year. Dhaliwal said that last year 9030 acres of land was freed from encroachment, the average market value of this land is around Rs. 2709 crore. He said that due to the Jalandhar by-election, the second phase of this campaign has been started 4-5 days ago and 189 acres of land have been vacated by the encroachers themselves.          He also appealed the people to come forward and leave the illegal encroachment of government land so that the revenue collected from this land can be used for the welfare of Punjab. He said that this land is not the ancestral property of anyone but it is the common land of all Punjabis residing in the state and the income generated from this land is to be spent on all the residents of Punjab. Dhaliwal said that last year also on the appeal of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, 3396 acres of land had been vacated by the people themselves.          Dhaliwal categorically said that people residing on such land, if any, will not be dislocated during the drive but such occupiers will be requested to dispose of the matter according to the law. He also requested that for the welfare of Punjab and to make the state Rangla Punjab, the illegal encroachers themselves should come forward and hand over these lands to the Punjab government. 

EIGHT HOURS UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY TO BE ENSURED PHASE WISE FOR AGRICULTURE: HARBHAJAN SINGH ETO EXHORTS

     The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is making adequate arrangements to ensure smooth sowing of paddy across the state during the upcoming monsoon season.          Punjab Power Minister Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO on Friday visited PSPCL Office of Gurdaspur to review the preparations for power supply for the upcoming season. During the visit, he instructed to the concerned officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the concerned area. He asked the officials to enhance field visits and make necessary inspections of transformers, lines and others to fix all the defects well before time.          The Cabinet Minister said that the state government has divided into Punjab into four zones to effectively implement the phase wise supply for paddy. He said that the sowing of paddy across the state will start in four different phases from June 10 to June 21 etc. He ensured that all the arrangements will be made for uninterrupted power supply to the farmers.          Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the sowing of paddy in border areas will start from June 10, for which uninterrupted power supply will be provided. He said that second phase to be commenced from June 16 in which seven districts of Ferozepur, Faridkot, Pathankot, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, SBS Nagar and Tarn Taran have been covered, while in third phase seven districts Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Fazilka, Bathinda and Amritsar will be ensured supply from June 19. He informed that the remaining nine districts of Patiala, Jalandhar, Moga, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Hoshiarpur, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Barnala and Mansa will be covered from June 21. 

PUNJAB POLICE CONDUCT SIMULTANEOUS RAIDS AT PREMISES OF ANTI-SOCIAL ELEMENTS & PERSONS INVOLVED IN CRIMES

       As part of ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police on Friday conducted simultaneous raids at premises of anti-social elements and persons involved in crimes. The raids were carried out on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.          Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that the day-long operation was conducted across the state in a synchronised manner and all the CPs/SSPs were asked to depute at least one police party per police station, under Sub-Inspector (SI) rank officers to check the whereabouts of these persons.          He said that as many as 450 Police parties, involving over 3000 police personnel, have conducted raids at premises of at least 4171 persons, who have a criminal record.          The Special DGP said that the purpose to carry out this operation was to know the whereabouts of such persons, besides, ensuring that they have returned to the mainstream lifestyle.           He said that the Police teams have also questioned family members of persons involved in crimes and checked bank transactions from abroad, and western union and property details. Police teams have also checked the vehicles stationed at their premises and verified their registration numbers using VAHAN mobile app, he added.          Meanwhile, such exercises help the Police to keep vigil around the anti-social elements, while instilling sense of security among common people.
