IEP CHANDIGARH AUGUST 31, 2022

Uttarakhand Director general of police Ashok Kumar said that the Uttarakhand Police app is a big step towards smart policing. The app has been launched to provide better service to the general public. All the districts in-charge should widely publicise this app so that more people can benefit from the facilities it provides. This is also a big step towards people-friendly and transparent policing, he said.

The DGP said this while chairing a review meeting with senior police officers on various aspects here on Tuesday. It was stated that the app provides the user the facility to lodge an e-FIR on vehicle theft and missing items while sitting at home. Those who reach the police station to lodge such FIRs should also be encouraged to lodge online FIRs. The officers incharge of both Garhwal and Kumaon should monitor this on a daily basis, he said while adding that in the future action will be taken against those who file offline FIR regarding vehicle theft and missing objects. “ App a big step towards smart, people-friendly & transparent policing, says Kumar ”

The DGP further directed that swift action should be taken and the response time should be further improved on information received on mobile data terminal through dial 112. In order to make the police tech savvy, course modules will be prepared on CCTNS and other new technologies and taught in all promotion trainings. Kumar directed all the officers in-charge of districts to take strict action against land mafia illegally occupying government/private land and buildings. Such elements should be identified and cases should be lodged against them under Goonda Act and Gangster Act to acquire property acquired illegally. Recalling earlier instructions, he said that nobody from the police department will use the social media to dent the image of the department or the government.

Necessary departmental action will be taken against those who do not follow these directions. It was further stated that tablets had been distributed to bring about qualitative improvement and transparency in the work of investigators. The district in-charge should ensure that these are used online cent per cent in the investigation. The ADG (PAC/CID) PVK Prasad, ADG (Police Telecommunications) Amit Sinha, ADG (Crime, Law and Order) V Murugeshan, IG (Intelligence and Security) AP Anshuman, IG (CID) Vimla Gunjyal and other officers were also present in the meeting.
