Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Director General of Information, Public Relations, Languages and Culture Department, Dr. Amit Agrawal said that imparting folk music art is the reflection of the cultural heritage of the state. He said that the state government is making consistent efforts to save and promote this cultural heritage of the state.The Director General, Dr. Amit Agarwal was speaking at the inaugural session of the 5-day Song Festival organized in the memory of Dhanpat Singh Sangi, dedicated to the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, on behalf of Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department in the auditorium of Haryana Kala Parishad in Kurukshetra on Monday.Earlier, Dr. Amit Agrawal also paid tribute to great Sangi Dhanpat Singh by offering flowers on his picture and inaugurated the 5-day Saang Mahotsav by lighting the traditional lamp.The Director General said that Haryana has a rich cultural heritage from the Vedic times. The state is rich in folklore. The people of Haryana follow their own traditions. Haryanvi culture resides in every particle of the soil of this state. Imparting art of folk music is the most ancient and traditional education of this region. The state government has been taking constructive steps to promote and support its cultural heritage.The Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister said that Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has made several announcements to promote folk artists in the state. In these announcements, there is also a plan to give lifetime pension to the elderly artists above 60 years of age. The initiative is meant for improving the financial and socio-economic status of the old artistes and scholars who have contributed significantly Dr. Amit Agrawal said that the task of promoting International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra has been done by the state government. On the land of Kurukshetra is the origin place of Bhagavad Gita, where 5000 years ago, Lord Krishna preached the teachings of Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. With the efforts of visionary, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, Kurukshetra Development Board has organized International Gita Mahotsav in Mauritius, London, Canada and now International Gita Mahotsav is also being organized in Australia from 28 to 30 April. Culture Development Board has been formed by the state government to promote culture. He said that according to the announcement of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, a 5-day Sang Mahotsav will be organized in the memory of famous Sangi Dhanpat Singh to promote art, culture and artists in the state. Welcoming the guests, Additional Director of the Department, Dr. Kuldeep Saini said that the Sang Mahotsav is being organized in the state by the department where 18 teams from all over the state has applied to participate. Later, Director General, Dr. Amit Agrawal and Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Shantanu Sharma honored famous musicians. Director Haryana Kala Parishad, Sh. Sanjay Basin, and other officers were present on the occasion.
