The Haryana Government has urged cow keepers to immunise their healthy cows against lumpy skin disease in order to shield them from its consequences.
Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that a healthy bovine vaccination campaign has been started by the state government in which door to door free vaccination is being given to all healthy cattles above the age of 4 months. So far, more than 15 lakh cows have been vaccinated, the vaccination of the rest of the bovine animals is also been done. He added that the animals suffering from lumpy skin disease are not being vaccinated, if any animal is suffering from the said disease, then they may contact the nearest veterinary hospital or veterinary dispensary. He further cautioned the cow breeders that this disease does not spread from animal to human, yet it is advised to drink the milk of the affected animals after boiling it thoroughly. With proper care and treatment, the infected animals become completely healthy in 10-15 days and regain their normal milk production levels.
