IEP Chandigarh, October 10
Calling 1930 can ensure reversing any amount lost through online financial fraud. After receiving such complaints at 1930, Haryana’s Cyber Police Station, Rohtak has blocked Rs 23.50 lakh from being transferred to the accounts of cyber criminals in September this year.
Sharing the information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that cases of cyber fraud are increasing rapidly. Police are alerting citizens about incidents related to cyber crime by observing October 2022 as Cyber Security Awareness Month. Citizens can avoid cyber frauds by making themselves aware of cyber crime. However, a well-equipped and trained team of state cyber crime is working to save the hard-earned money of the citizens.
He said that cyber criminals are defrauding citizens by breaching the app and banking system. In this way, to protect citizens from fraud, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has developed a portal, with cyber helpline number 1930. On which citizens can submit their complaints related to cybercrime.
As soon as the person who is a victim of online fraud gives a complaint on the helpline number. Based on the information about the fraud, the account in which the money has to reach, that account will be freezed/blocked by the cyber crime unit. The account holder in which victim’s money has gone will not be able to withdraw it. Also, the entire money withdrawn from victim’s account will be returned back.
Complaints related to cybercrime can also be given on dial-112. If for some reason the number 1930 is not available, then the victim can also register a complaint on 112. Both numbers work round-the-clock. Citizens should register a complaint by dialing 1930 or 112 as soon as possible immediately after the cyber fraud. Every day since the beginning of the month of October, Haryana Police is making people aware by giving information about cyber crimes. In this series, awareness drive about prevention of cyber crime is being carried out in schools, colleges, universities, bus stands, gram panchayats and other public places, he added.
