Chief Minister. Sh. Manohar Lal said that Ayurveda is the oldest medical system and has made possible the treatment of incurable diseases. He said that early treatment is possible in the Allopathy medical system but it has many side effects whereas in Ayurveda, the patient gets better treatment. The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating the Ayurveda festival at Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Sector 46, Chandigarh today. He said that everyone has the right to education and health and keeping this in mind, the state government has made efforts to expand education and make medical facilities easily available to all. The Chief Minister said that CHIRAYU Haryana Yojana has been implemented to provide medical facilities to every citizen. “It is the endeavour of the government to ensure the health check-up of all the citizens and for this the Nirogi Haryana Yojana has been started. In the first phase, free medical check-up of Antyodaya families will be done,” he asserted. He said that the state government is constantly working for the promotion of Ayurveda and in this series, Shri Krishna AYUSH University is being built on 100 acres of land in Kurukshetra. General secretary, Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Vaidya Sh. Naresh Mittal explained in detail about the achievements of the college. He said that Shri Dhanwantry Education Society was formed in 1976 and along with it; Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital was established. Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital is the only Ayurvedic Institute in Chandigarh; affiliated to Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra. Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic Hospital has facilities of 125 beds. Along with this, the college has 100 UG and 24 PG seats and will soon start Ph.D. program. On the occasion, chairman, All India Ayurveda Mahasammelan Trust, Vaidya Sh. Devendra Triguna, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Panchkula and chairman, Shri Dhanwantry Education Society, Chandigarh, Sh. Kulbhushan Goyal, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Sh. Anup Gupta, chairman, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, Sh. Rakesh Sharma, along with other dignitaries and a large number of students were present.
