On the initiative of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, for the first time Haryana State Cooperative Distribution and Supply Marketing Federation (HAFED) is procuring Sunflower. Keeping in view the interest of farmers, the Chief Minister has provided interim relief at the rate of Rs 1000 per quintal. With this, sunflower is being procured in the state at the rate of Rs 6000 per quintal, which is Rs. 1500-2000 per quintal higher than other states.Giving information in this regard today, HAFED Chairman Sh. Kailash Bhagat said that the work of procuring sunflower is going on in 6 mandis of Kurukshetra district. HAFED has so far procured 14,633 metric tonnes of sunflower from Kurukshetra mandis and 6,419 metric tonnes from Ambala mandis.He informed that the purchase of sunflower seed by HAFED was initially started at the rate of Rs.4800 per quintal and now it has been increased to Rs. 4900-5000 per quintal. In addition, farmers are getting an interim relief of Rs 1000 per quintal as announced by the Chief Minister. Â
