The Haryana Government has implemented Haryana Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme, under which pension of Rs. 2500 per year is given on the upkeep and maintenance of trees that are aged 75 years and above.While giving this information, an official spokesman said that this pension amount will increase proportionally every year, on the lines of old-age pension. Haryana is the first state in the country to implement such a scheme, aimed at conserving and protecting aging trees.He said that if someone has a tree aged 75 years or older at the courtyard of his house , he can apply for the pension by visiting the office of Forest Department in their concerned district. The application would be evaluated by a committee, and upon verification of all conditions, the beneficiary will be given pension.He said that the State Government has been proactive in implementing environment-friendly initiatives, recognizing that trees play a pivotal role in providing us oxygen . Most importantly, the trees aged 75 years or older release large amount of oxygen. He urged the people of the State to actively participate in tree plantation drives and become partners in environmental conservation.
