Haryana Government has issued orders for temporary suspension of mobile internet services (2G/3G/4G/CDMA/GPRS), all SMS services (including bulk SMS and excluding banking and mobile recharge), and all dongle services etc. provided on mobile networks except the voice calls in the territorial jurisdiction of District Nuh and will be in force with effect from August 26, 2023 (12:00 hrs) to August 28, 2023 (23:59 hrs). For appropriate action in this regard, all the telecom service providers of Haryana have been instructed to ensure compliance of these orders.
Nuh Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Dhirendra Khadgata said that this order has been issued by the Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Haryana to prevent any disturbances of peace and public order in Nuh district. Violation of these orders will lead to legal action under relevant provisions. He said that these orders have been passed for the security of public and private property and to maintain law and order in view of the tension, agitation, fear of damage in view of the Shobha Yatra scheduled by few organizations on August 28.
He said that such action has been taken in order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc. on mobile phones and SMS, for facilitation and mobilisation of mobs of agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities in District Nuh.
Personal SMS, mobile recharge, banking SMS, voice calls, corporate and domestic broadband and Internet services provided by leased lines are exempted for public convenience and basic domestic needs of people.
