As part of their ongoing anti-corruption campaign, the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau caught Pradeep, the District Welfare Officer’s driver, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 in Sonipat district today. Acting on a complaint, the Bureau set a trap for Pradeep, successfully apprehending him as he demanded a bribe in exchange for processing benefits under the government scheme ‘Inter-caste Marriage Shagun Yojana’ for the complainant’s relative.
“Following the complainant’s report, a plan was devised,” explained the Anti-Corruption Bureau spokesperson. “After investigating the facts, we arrested Pradeep red-handed as he took a ₹30,000 bribe in front of witnesses.”
A case has been registered against Pradeep at the Rohtak ACB police station, and the Bureau is actively gathering evidence. The spokesperson urges the public to report any instances of bribery by government officials or employees to the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau’s toll-free numbers – 1800-180-202.
