The High-Level Committee on Urban Planning, under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Town and Country Planning Haryana, is organising the ‘Urban Planning Conclave’ scheduled from February 5-6, 2024, at Hotel Hyatt Centric, Chandigarh. The Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal will inaugurate the conclave, setting the tone for fruitful discussions
Giving more information in this regard, an official spokesperson informed that the main objective of this significant conclave is to facilitate a comprehensive dialogue and knowledge-sharing platform among stakeholders, shedding light on the state-specific initiatives and policies of Haryana concerning Urban Planning, Public Private Partnership, Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), Transfer of Development Rights (TDR), Affordable Housing, and other pertinent urban development issues. The event will also feature insights from senior functionaries from other parts of the country.
He said that over 100 bureaucrats and technocrats from the Government of India and State Government Departments, including Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments (HODs), Town Planners, and other senior functionaries from department/agencies such as DULB, HSVP, GMDA, FMDA, PMDA, SMDA, HMRTC, HRERA, etc., are expected to attend.
Apart from this, distinguished speakers from the High Level Committee, MOHUA, NITI Aayog, Indian Institute of Human Settlement (IIHS), academic institutions like SPA, CEPT, Chandigarh College of Architecture (CA), HRERA, Institute of Urban Finance and Governance, Pune, and GIZ, among others, will present insights and perspectives on various aspects of Urban Planning during the conclave.
The spokesperson further informed that the two-day conclave will have 6 technical sessions along with panel discussion and valedictory session. The technical sessions on day 1 will include topic such as Capacity Augmentation of Urban Planning, Haryana Context- Statutory Framework and Role of Authorities, Public Private Partnership in Urban Development in Haryana and Strengthening Urban Finance & Institutional Mechanism. On day 2 technical session will include topic such as Sustainable Urban Mobility and Planning, Urban Renewal: Form Based Code and Brownfield Development, Panel discussion on How to exploit the geographic advantage of Haryana sub-region and the conclave will be concluded with Valedictory Session.
The spokesperson stated that the conclave aims to not only showcase the experiences and initiatives of Haryana but also set a comprehensive roadmap for future urbanization in the state. It is a crucial step toward fostering collaboration, learning, and innovation in the field of urban development from participating delegates.
