PEOPLE OF ONCE DRUG HOTSPOT VILLAGE LAKHANPAL THANKS CM FOR RESTORING SMILES ON FACES OF PEOPLE

Lakhanpal (Jalandhar), May 16:

People of the Lakhanpal village in Jalandhar district on Friday hailed the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for bringing back the smiles on the faces of Punjabis by launching Yudh Nasheyan Virudh to eliminate the curse of drugs from the state.

A villager Subedar Major (Retd) Jatinder Kumar said that the village earlier was a renowned one but then became notorious as drug smugglers were ruling the shots in the area. He said that he even shied away from taking the name of the village in front of anyone but now the state government has wiped out this curse from the village. He said that the Bhagwant Mann led government had started this vigorous campaign due to which people are very happy now, adding that the Police has done a commendable job in it.

Another villager Harmesh Lal said that the houses that have been destroyed by drug smugglers under Yudh Nasheyan Virudh campaign, which is a laudable step. He urged the Chief Minister to lay major thrust on promotion of the sports so that the energy of youth is channelized in a positive direction. He said that earlier the problem of drugs was so grave that even the marriages of their kids didn’t take place but now the situation has changed.

A resident of the village Inderpal said that Yudh Nasheyan Virduh has proved a boon for their village as it has given much needed relief to them. He said that previous regimes had never paid heed towards this major problem but the state government has eliminated this scourge. He said that due to concerted efforts of the government most of the drug smugglers have left the village due to which prosperity is there.

Another resident of the village Resham Lal welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries adding that the Yudh Nasheyan Virudh has brought smiles on the faces of the common man. He said that this is a welcome step and every Punjabi is supporting this noble cause as it is ensuring the well being of the coming generations. He said that these positive steps are producing the desired results and restoring the pristine glory of the state.

A drug addict Harbeer (name changed) said that he was 22 years and had fallen prey to the curse of drugs but due to the strenuous efforts of the state government he has left the drugs. He said that the rehabilitation centre of the state government at Village Sheikhe has given a fresh lease of life to him. He said that computer training given to him at the centre has helped him to live a life of dignity and pride.

A village resident Sulekh Raj also hailed the Chief Minister for wiping out the curse of drugs from the state. He said that every resident of the state will extend full support and cooperation to the state government for this noble cause.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarpanch of village Gurwinder Singh said that the state government has adopted a foolproof strategy to wipe out the curse of drugs from the state. He said that his village had long been a hotspot of drugs but the state government has assured that this scourge was wiped out. He assured fulsome support and cooperation to the state government in this noble task adding that it is the moral duty of every individual.

On the occasion Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat, Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia and others were also present.
