‘Guldasta’, The Annual Function of Dev Samaj School’s Pre-Primary Wing Held

Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School, Sector 21-C, Chandigarh, organised the Annual Function ‘Guldasta’ of the Pre-Primary Wing as a heartfelt tribute to the Late Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon. Late Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon was a social reformer & the Secretary of the Dev Samaj Society.

The celebration spread over two days was aimed at showcasing the talent of young learners while spreading meaningful and healthy messages through a range of thoughtfully curated performances.

The inaugural day, was graced by Mr. Amardeep Singh Rai, Special DGP (Traffic and Road Safety), as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Secretary the Dev Samaj-Chairperson Dev Samaj Colleges-Incharge Dev Samaj Vidya Vibhag; Mr. Maanvinder Singh Mangat, Chief Administrative Officer-Secretary the Dev Samaj Colleges, Chandigarh; Dr. (Mrs.) Jaspal Kaur, Manager,I.S. Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School; Lieutenant Kesu Singh; and Mr. Sahil Abhi, Legal Advisor & Member, Managing Committee.

The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by an array of engaging performances by the pre-primary students. Children presented lively dance items based on popular rhymes such as ‘Up and Down’, ‘Shake Shake Shake’, and ‘Colours in the Rainbow’. Traditional Bhangra and Gidha added vibrancy and cultural richness to the event.

A thematic play and narration conveyed the importance of spending quality time with children and adopting a healthy lifestyle by limiting excessive mobile usage. The Chief Guest, Mr. Amardeep Singh Rai, appreciated the efforts of the young performers and motivated them to continue striving for excellence.

The second day of the function was honoured by the presence of Chief Guest Sh. Harmohinder Singh Lucky, President, Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee, along with Guest of Honour Dr. Harneet Singh, Principal, D.A.V. School, Parwanoo, and other dignitaries including Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Secretary The Dev Samaj-Chairperson Dev Samaj Colleges-Incharge Dev Samaj Vidya Vibhag; Mr. Maanvinder Singh Mangat, Chief Administrative Officer-Secretary of the Dev Samaj Colleges Chandigarh; Dr. Jaspal Kaur, Manager, I.S. Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School; Dr. Richa Sharma, Principal, Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36, Chandigarh; and Dr. Neeru Malik, Principal, Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45, Chandigarh.

The students presented a delightful blend of songs, dance numbers, a tribal dance, and a vibrant Bhangra performance. A thought-provoking presentation on the importance of water became the highlight of the day, delivering a strong environmental message to the audience.

The two-day celebration proved to be a fitting tribute to the Late Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon. The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by School Principal Mrs. Sabeeha Dhillon Mangat, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, parents, teachers, and students.
