Chandigarh, August 16 — The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at CISF Unit P&HCS, Chandigarh. Special Secretary, Establishment, Sh. Munish Nagpal, IAS, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Commandant, CISF Unit P&HCS, Chandigarh, Sh. Lalit Panwar presided over the function.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. A ceremonial parade by CISF personnel was also held to mark the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest paid tribute to the freedom fighters and highlighted the importance of national unity, integrity and service to the nation. He appreciated the significant role played by the CISF in ensuring national security and maintaining discipline.
On the occasion, Sh. Munish Nagpal also inaugurated a newly installed open gym at the Unit Lines for the well-being and physical fitness of CISF personnel.
CISF personnel and other guests participated in the celebrations. Patriotic songs and cultural performances added to the spirit of the occasion. CISF personnel also showcased their courage and professional preparedness through a demonstration featuring various tactical manoeuvres.
Deputy Commandant, CISF Unit P&HCS, Chandigarh, Sh. Nitin Kumar, concluded the programme with a vote of thanks, bringing the celebrations to a close on a note of unity, patriotism and national pride.
