Chandigarh, October 3 – Haryana Cooperation, Prisons, Tourism, Heritage and Elections Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma congratulated the players from Haryana who brought glory to the nation with their outstanding performances at the Asian Games-2026, saying that the players from the soil of Haryana have once again proved that the state is a sporting powerhouse of the country. He said that the achievements of the players who have taken the Tricolour to the top on the international stage are a matter of pride for the entire state. Dr. Arvind Sharma said that Rohtak’s Parveen Hooda, Hisar’s Ankush Panghal, Charkhi Dadri’s Sujeet Kalkal and Jind’s Kirti Sharma have brought laurels to Haryana by winning gold medals. From the boxing ring to the wrestling arena and the archery field, the golden shine of Haryana’s players has been visible.
He said that Haryana’s players have also brought laurels to the country in shooting. Rewari’s Kamaljeet and Jhajjar’s Suruchi won the gold medal in the 10-metre air pistol mixed team event. Similarly, the participation of eight players from Haryana in the Indian men’s kabaddi team that won the gold medal is, in itself, a testament to the state’s strong sporting culture.
The Cooperation Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, the environment for sports and sportspersons in the country has changed. At the same time, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Government has been continuously working to provide modern facilities, training and encouragement to sportspersons. The objective of the state’s sports policy is to provide opportunities to rural talent and facilitate their journey to national and international platforms. Dr. Arvind Sharma said that when our sons and daughters from villages and ordinary families of Haryana take the Tricolour to the top at the Asian Games, it is a moment of pride for the entire state. The hard work of our players, the sacrifices made by their families and the strong sporting culture developed in the state are the real strength behind this success.
He said that along with honouring and encouraging medal-winning players, the Haryana Government is laying special emphasis on connecting the new generation with sports. These achievements of the players will inspire thousands of youth across the state to enter the sporting arena and win medals for the country. Dr. Arvind Sharma congratulated all the medal-winning players, their coaches and family members and expressed confidence that Haryana’s players will continue to add more medals to the country’s tally in the upcoming events and bring further glory to the state.
