IEP  Chandigarhभारत में 19वी सदी में अंग्रेजी शासन का बोल-बाला था और दूनिया हमें हेय दृष्टि से देखती थी। उस समय भारत माता ने एक ऐसे लाल को 12 जनवरी 1863 में जन्म दिया, जिसने भारत के लोगांे का ही नहीं पूरी मानवता का गौरव बढ़ाया। माता-पिता ने बालक का नाम नरेन्द्र रखा। इसके बाद वे आध्यात्म से सरोबोर होकर स्वामी विवेकानंद कहलाए। स्वामी विवेकानंद पश्चिमी दर्शन सहित विभिन्न विषयों के ज्ञाता होने के साथ-साथ एक बहुमुखी प्रतिभा के धनी थे। वह भारत के पहले हिंदू सन्यासी थे, जिन्होंने हिंदू धर्म और सनातन धर्म का संदेश विश्व भर में फैलाया। उन्होंने विश्व में सनातन मूल्यों, हिन्दू धर्म और भारतीय संस्कृति की सर्वाेच्चता स्थापित की।  योगिक स्वभाव से परिपूर्ण, वे बचपन से ही ध्यान का अभ्यास करते थे। श्री रामकृष्ण परमहंस के संपर्क में आने के बाद उनके जीवन में एक बड़ा बदलाव आया। इनका सम्बन्ध गुरु-शिष्य संबंध के रूप में विकसित हुआ। उन्होंने नवंबर 1881 में एक दिन श्री रामकृष्ण परमहंस से पूछा, सर, क्या आपने भगवान को देखा है? उन्हांेने “हाँ“ में उत्तर दिया और कहा कि मैं उन्हें उतने ही स्पष्ट रूप से देखता हूं, जितना कि मैं आपको देख रहा हूं। श्री रामकृष्ण परमहंस के दिव्य मार्गदर्शन में, स्वामी विवेकानंद ने आध्यात्मिक पथ पर अद्भुत प्रगति की। 11 सितंबर, 1893
