The Punjab Government led by Bhagwant Mann is constantly striving to provide basic facilities and a clean environment for the welfare of the people of the state. Taking a step in this direction,  Local Government Minister, Dr.Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that Rs 167.71 lakh will be spent by the Punjab government for the development and beautification of Bareta. The department has started the process for these works.                    Giving more information, Dr.Nijjar said that the services of laborers will be taken to carry out cleaning and other works properly in Bareta. Apart from this, Constructions of drains and repairs will be done in various places. Similarly, pre-cast cement pipes NP-2 will be installed at different places and various other works will be done.                   Dr. Nijjar said that the main objective of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is to provide a corruption free administration to the people of the state.                   Minister has directed the official of the department to bring quality in work and the rules should be strictly followed

Punjab Cabinet led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today approved recommendation to the Governor for summoning of the third Session of the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha on September 27 (Tuesday).A decision to this effect was taken by the Council of Ministers in its meeting chaired by the Chief Minister here at the Chief Minister’s Office in Punjab Civil Secretariat- I.Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that as per clause (1) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is authorized to summon the State Legislature to meet at such time and place, as he thinks fit. However, there should not be a time gap of more than six months between two sessions of the State Legislative Assembly. The 2nd (Budget) Session of the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha was concluded on June 30th, 2022, so the Cabinet has recommended convening the 3rd Session of the Assembly on September 27th, 2022, added the spokesperson.

The government led by Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann is committed for the welfare of the elderly. Punjab Social Security Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the grievances of the elderly are being redressed expeditiously through the toll free helpline number 14567 of the department of Social Security, Women and Child Development.

          Divulging details, Minister for the Social Security, Women and Child Development said that the Punjab government is committed to provide quick services and facilities to the elderly of the state by serving them with compassion through the helpline. She further said that this helpline serves as a platform for redressal of complaints of senior citizens of Punjab, due to which positive impact is being seen in the lives of senior citizens.

          Dr. Baljit Kaur added that the elderly have to face many difficulties in life for any help they can contact at the toll free number 14567 regarding their problems. She further informed that so far 61413 calls (serviceable and non-serviceable) have been received from different districts on this toll free number, out of which 17235 calls (serviceable) have been processed.

Apart from this, 27893 non-actionable calls have been received on this number and cases are being pursued on 16285 calls.

          Serviceable calls out of which 9413, pension related 4587, legal 988, abuse 535, Covid support 548 calls, other 389, health related 294, emotional support 210, OAH related 165, carers 52, rescue 42, Activity Center 10, Volunteering 02 have been received.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur has appealed to the elderly to make maximum use of this helpline number 14567, so that the elderly can lead a healthy lifestyle without any problems.

 Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday said that that the state government has now decided to summon the session of state assembly on September 27 to discuss various issues of pertaining to state.   In a statement, the Chief Minister said that the state government will approach the Supreme Court of India against the arbitrary and anti-democratic decision of the Governor to cancel the permission of holding a special session of the Vidhan Sabha, after giving permission for it. He said that it is an unfortunate move and they will move to the Apex court against this irrational decision. Bhagwant Mann asserted that this decision will be challenged in the Supreme Court for safeguarding the democratic rights of the people and federal rights of the states. Training his guns against the Punjab Congress for supporting ‘Operation Lotus’ of the BJP, the Chief Minister said it is ironic that Congress which is the biggest victim of this undemocratic operation is standing by the side of the saffron party. He said that Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP are hand in glove for this sinister move aimed at toppling the democratically elected government of Punjab. Bhagwant Mann unequivocally said that Congress and BJP have marginalized regional parties adding that now they want that power should remain confined between them only. However, the Chief Minister said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has taken birth from an anti-corruption crusade and the party under leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is gaining momentum with every passing day. He categorically said that they will oppose every anti-democratic move and will not be threatened by pressure tactics. Bhagwant Mann envisioned that Punjab will send a message to the entire country that in democracy people and not any individual is supreme.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, during its campaign against corruption in the state, registered a case against the former Sarpanch Satnam Singh and Panchayat Secretary Sukhdev Singh for embezzlement in the funds of Gram Panchayat Sathiali, Block Kahnuwan, Gurdaspur district and arrested the former Sarpanch in this case. Meanwhile, in a separate case, the Vigilance has arrested Baljinder Kumar Kanango, tehsil Khamano and a private person Satpal Singh Satta, resident of village Bhaini Kalan, Fatehgarh Sahib district, on the charge of taking bribe.Disclosing his here today, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) said during the investigation conducted by the Bureau, it was found that the duo, former Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary, has embezzled Rs. 20,08,602 out of the amount of grants and panchayat funds received from the government from the year 2013 to 2018 for the development works of Gram Panchayat Sathyali.He informed that in the said case, the VB has registered a case FIR 18, dated 21.09.2022, against above mentioned accused former Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary under Section 409, 120-B IPC and under Section 13(1)(a) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Amritsar. Further investigation of the said case was under progress.The spokesperson further informed that in a separate case, the complainant Jarnail Singh had filed an online complaint on the VB toll free helpline and alleged that above mentioned Baljinder Kumar Kanungo through Satpal Singh Satta, a private middleman retained by Kanungo, has demanded bribe of Rs 10,000 for demarcation of land purchased at village Bilaspur in Fatehgarh Sahib district. He also alleged in his complaint that the said Kanungo has already taken Rs.3000 as bribe from him and is now demanding more bribe of Rs.10,000 through his agent Satpal Singh.He said that after the investigation of the said complaint by the VB, a corruption case has been registered against both the accused under section 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station Vigilance Bureau at Patiala and the duo accused have been arrested. Further investigation in this regard was under progress.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its anti-corruption campaign on Wednesday, has registered a corruption case against Constable Inderjit Singh, (No 237/Ferozepur), posted in special branch, SSP office, Ferozepur for accepting bribe of Rs 2 lakh and further demanding Rs 5 lakh.

Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) said the accused Constable Inderjit Singh has been booked under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act after the investigation report prepared on the basis of a complaint lodged by a complainant Janak Raj of village Panje Ki Uttar, Ferozepur district on State Anti-Corruption Helpline. In this regard a FIR has been registered at VB Police Station Ferozpur.

Revealing the details, he informed that the complainant has alleged in his online complaint that the above mentioned Constable was demanding bribe and threatening him to book in a false case for storing liquor made for Chandigarh. The complainant has submitted that the accused Constable has already taken Rs 2 lakh in this regard and demanding Rs 5 lakh more as a bribe thereby he recorded the conversation on his phone.
