FATEHGARH SAHIB DACOITY CASE: PUNJAB POLICE’S AGTF ARRESTS TWO MAIN ACCUSED AFTER BRIEF EXCHANGE OF FIRE; THREE PISTOLS RECOVERED

CHANDIGARH/FATEHGARH SAHIB, June 1:

          Amidst the ongoing drive against anti-social elements launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police in a joint operation with Fatehgarh Sahib Police have successfully cracked the daylight dacoity in Fatehgarh Sahib with the arrest of two criminals after a brief exchange of fire, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Thursday.

          Those arrested have been identified as Gurpreet Singh of village Johal Dhai Wala in Tarn Taran and Harpreet Singh of village Bantara in Tarn Taran. Both the accused persons were involved in the loot of Rs 40.8 lakh from an employee of a petrol pump in Bhatmajra village of Fatehgarh Sahib.

          Police teams have also recovered three .32 bore pistols along with live cartridges from the possession of both the accused persons.

          Giving details, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that a team of AGTF headed by ADGP Promod Ban got a reliable input that persons involved in the daylight dacoity are expected to visit village Macchli Khurd to pick their car, which was used to commit the crime.

          Following the information, a team from AGTF led by AIG Sandeep Goel, DSP Bikram Brar and DSP Rajan Parminder along with local Fatehgarh Sahib Police laid a trap and signalled the car to stop. “Instead of stopping the car, people sitting in the car opened fire at the police party, prompting Police parties to retaliate,” he said.

          After a brief exchange of fire, the DGP said that Police teams have managed to overpower both the accused persons, who have sustained bullet injuries on their legs. Both the accused persons have been undergoing treatment at a local hospital, he added.

          Meanwhile, a fresh case FIR no. 115 dated 1-6-2023 has been registered under sections 307 and 473 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at Police Station Kharar.

Two Home Guard Officials Apprehended for Bribery Charges

The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Clerk and a Peon from the Home Guard department in Faridabad on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 2500.

                    The ACB spokesperson shared this information today, shedding light on the unlawful activities conducted by the accused.

                    The arrested accused have been identified as Jitender, serving as a Clerk, and Vijender Phawa, working as a Peon. Acting promptly on a complaint filed by Vishal Verma, a resident of Nangla Enclave, Faridabad, the ACB took swift action to apprehend the accused officials.

                    It was reported that both Jitender and Vijender had demanded a bribe of Rs 2500 from Vishal Verma, who is a Home Guard volunteer, in exchange for his re-enrollment in the Home Guard. The ACB team, acting on this complaint, promptly organized a raid to catch the accused in the act. The raid conducted by the ACB team led to the arrest of both officials while they were accepting the bribe. The entire operation was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, ensuring transparency and fairness.

                    A case has been registered against the accused individuals at the Faridabad ACB police station. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, as the ACB aims to gather all relevant evidence to support the charges brought against them.

                    The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau reiterates its commitment to combat corruption and maintain integrity within public institutions. This arrest serves as a stern warning to individuals engaged in corrupt practices that they will be held accountable for their actions. 20 yr-old youth stabbed to death over road rage in Chandigarh; 3 held

In a road rage incident, a 20-year-old youth was stabbed to death and two of his friends were left injured following while they were on their way to have tea in Sector 22, Chandigarh on Sunday morning.

Sagar, a resident of Ram Darbar, along with his four friends was going in an I-10 car from Bus Stand Chowk to Cricket Stadium Chowk. As they reached opposite Jalandhar Hotel, Sector 22, a WagonR car came out of the parking lot from the wrong side. The occupants of WagonR entered into an argument with Sagar and his friend following which the former attacked the latter with sharp-edged weapons and sticks.

Sagar was stabbed on his chest and back, while his friend Nitish was stabbed on wrist and one Vishal suffered fracture after being hit with a stick. The accused fled the spot after the attack.

Sagar was rushed to GMSH-16 by his friends from where he was referred to PGI where he succumbed to his injuries. Acting on the complaint, the local Police registered a murder case at Sector 17 police station. A team of crime branch led by Inspector Rajiv Kumar nabbed the accused identified Monu Jaiswal (22) who is preparing for IELTS, Sonu Jaiswal (24), a cab driver, both brothers, Kshitij alias Cherry, all residents of Hallo Majra and Suraj, a resident of Ram Darbar, who works as a courier boy. The car was also recovered by the police. Meanwhile, other accused in the case are absconding.
