To stop illegal mining in the State, the Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Friday announced a series of steps including drone mapping of mining, setting up of drone unit and permit vehicles to enter the mining area. He stated this while presiding over the first meeting of Haryana State Enforcement Bureau (HSEB), in Chandigarh. He further said that HSEB would soon set up a drone unit to have a hawk eye to prevent illegal mining. He directed the Bureau to immediately take up the work of Drone mapping of mining area. Instructing the officers, he said that drone mapping is essential in areas like Yamuna Nagar, Narnaul, Bhiwani and Nuh, and this exercise should be done every month. Vij directed the bureau officers to only permit vehicles of valid contractors to enter the mining area and no vehicles without permission should not be allowed to enter the mining area.The Home Minister has directed that to curb the illegal liquor business, cameras with number detection of vehicles should be installed at the entry and exit gates of distilleries. Apart from this, the vehicles leaving the distillery should also be GPS enabled so that illegal liquor business can be curbed.Apart from this, he instructed the officers that a Website and App of the bureau should also be prepared and various modules should be incorporated in it so that information on mining, encroachment, challan, liquor monitoring etc. should be available.During the meeting, Vij said that a time limit should be given to the personnel working in various concerned departments who have been deployed in the bureau to join duty. Apart from this, he said that the functioning of the bureau should be ensured in each district. He said that information about the action being taken by the bureau should also be made available to him in the form of a report every month.The Home Minister was apprised in the meeting that the State Government has set up a bureau to monitor and initiate criminal action in cases of illegal mining, encroachment on government sites, illegal construction, challan and illegal liquor trade. The bureau has 8 police stations at Ambala, Karnal, Rohtak, Rewari, Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar and Jind and the bureau will function under various Acts. The minister was apprised that the bureau would work to prevent violations committed under the Acts coming under Haryana Power Utilities, Mining Department, Transport Department and Excise Department etc. It was informed in the meeting that till now 253 sites were inspected and 43 vehicles were seized by the bureaus to stop illegal mining. Similarly, under the Transport Department, 758 vehicles were checked and 232 vehicles were seized and a fine of Rs 1,51,52,000 was imposed. At the same time, 36517 FIRs were registered by the Bureau under the Power Utilities, 494 FIRs by the Bureau under the Irrigation Department, 50 FIRs under the Town and Planning Department and 35 site inspections and 2 FIRs under the Excise Department.
