Haryana Home and Health Minister Sh. Anil Vij has announced to give Home Minister Excellent Investigation Medal to SHO Inspector Naresh Kumar of Ambala Cantt Police Station. This announcement was made today by the Home Minister Sh. Anil Vij and he also patted the police staff for their excellent work on the occasion. It is noteworthy that Inspector Naresh Kumar had succeeded in arresting a drug smuggler along with one kilogram of heroin in Ambala Cantonment recently. The price of the seized heroin is five crores in the international market. Sh. Vij said that along with the Home Minister’s Medal, Inspector Naresh Kumar will also be given a reward of one lakh rupees and extension in service for six months. Home Minister Anil Vij said that strict action is being taken against drug peddlers in the entire state and the smuggling racket is being busted. Along with this, bulldozers are also being run on the property made from illegal earnings. It is worth mentioning that Inspector Naresh Kumar had received secret information about drug smuggling in the past, on the basis of which he formed a team late at night, after which the suspected vehicle was stopped and searched. During the search, one kg of heroin was recovered from the vehicle. The smuggler has been identified as Dishant Kumar alias DK, who has been produced in the court and taken on remand. During the investigation has revealed that this heroin was brought from NCR. Home Minister Anil Vij said that 30 awards were announced to honor the excellent work of police personnel. Out of which 10 awards are to be given by the Chief Minister, 10 by the Home Minister and 10 by the Director General of Police. The winners of Chief Minister’s Gallantry Medal and Home Minister’s Excellent Investigation Medal will receive cash prizes of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively, certificates and scrolls signed by the Chief Minister and the Home Minister were also given. Medal winning police personnel will get six months extension in service, he added. Apart from this, the personnel awarded with the Director General of Police Uttam Seva Medal will get a certificate and scroll along with a signed certificate of the DGP and Rs 50,000. Various provisions have been made in the SOP including eligibility criteria, selection committee, time limit, withdrawal of medal, details of medal etc.
