Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur emphasized the crucial role of medical associations and store operators in combating drug addiction. Presiding over a meeting at Sirsa’s Panchayat Bhawan, he urged them to join hands with the police and build a drug-free society.
Drug addiction is a pressing societal challenge that necessitates a united front, said DGP Kapur. In addressing this issue, he underscores the critical importance of responsible medicine usage. Stressing the need for stringent adherence to regulations, Kapur directs his call specifically to store operators, urging them to refrain from selling banned drugs under any circumstances. Additionally, he emphasizes the significance of obtaining authorized doctor prescriptions as a prerequisite for dispensing medications. This proactive approach seeks to foster a collective commitment to combating drug addiction while ensuring that pharmaceutical practices align with legal and ethical standards.
DGP Kapur commended the police department’s ongoing campaigns in educating youth about drugs and promoting alternatives like education and sports. He encouraged medical personnel to participate in these initiatives and guide youth toward the right path.
“Our grip on drug smugglers tightens daily,” he affirmed. “Any youth entangled in their web will find support and treatment, paving the way back to society’s embrace” He expressed confidence in the collective effort to eradicate drug addiction.
The DGP appealed to the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to drug buying or selling. He warned, “Strict legal action will be taken against offenders.”
ADGP Hisar Range Shrikant Jadhav and Sirsa SP Vikrant Bhushan briefed DGP Kapur on the ongoing anti-drug campaign. They highlighted the importance of cooperation for success and proposed forming a WhatsApp group for improved coordination between authorities and medical operators. Monthly meetings were also established to monitor the campaign’s progress.
Present alongside DGP Kapur were ADGP Hisar Range Shrikant Jadhav, Sirsa SP Vikrant Bhushan, Dabwali SP Sumer Singh, ASP Deepti Garg, and representatives of the medical community and store operators.
