KOTKAPURA FIRING INCIDENT: GENERAL PUBLIC CAN SHARE INFO WITH SIT ON COMING THREE THURSDAYS

With investigations of the Kotkapura Firing incident reaches at the final stage, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by ADGP LK Yadav on Sunday said that if anyone having any additional, relevant information, which may have a bearing upon the case could share by personally meeting him at his office at Floor 6, Punjab Police Headquarters, Sector 9-C here from 10.30am to 1.30pm on coming three Thursdays i.e. March 16, March 23 and March 30, 2023. Notably, the Kotkapura Firing incident took place on October 14, 2015.He said that people can also share information in this regard by sending a message on WhatsApp no 9875983237, or by emailing at ID newsit2021kotkapuracase@gmail.com. Even at this stage any input/information provided by any responsible individual might prove to be very helpful for the SIT in completing this legal process of investigation at the earliest, he added.The ADGP also expressed gratitude to the people of Punjab for their kind cooperation with the SIT in the discharge of the sacred responsibility entrusted to SIT. He said that the strength of consciousness of every single individual of Punjab has been a prime mover in the completion of the legal process of investigation connected with the Kotkapura Firing Case.Pertinently, on the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh, the State Government had constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting of three Senior officers including ADGP LK Yadav, IG Rakesh Agrawal, and SSP Moga Gulneet Singh Khurana to investigate the Kotkapura firing incident. The SIT has submitted its first Challan in the Court on February 24, 2023.

PUNJAB POLICE CHECK WHEREABOUTS OF PERSONS BOOKED UNDER ARMS ACT

          As part of ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police on Saturday carried out a special operation under which persons booked under Arms act were checked by the Police teams across the state. The operation was carried out in wake of the G-20 Summit on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.

          The operation was conducted in a synchronised manner from 11am to 5pm and all the CPs/SSPs were asked to depute one team per police station to check the wherebouts and antecedents of all the persons booked under Arms act in last five years, who are on bail, parole or acquitted.

          Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that the 400 Police teams, involving 2000 police personnel, have checked as many as 1343 such persons, who were booked under the Arms Act in the last five years, of which, 1194 persons were on parole or bail. One person has been arrested during the operation, he said.

          He said that the intent to carry out this operation was to keep check on the influx of illegal arms and ammunition from across the international border and the inter-state borders from states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, besides, keeping vigil on gangsters and anti-social elements.

          Meanwhile, such operations also help in infusing fear among anti-social elements and instilling a sense of security among common people.

Meet Hayer inaugurates All India Civil Services Cricket Tournament by taking to field himself

Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Sunday inaugurated the All India Civil Services Cricket Tournament by taking to the field himself.

As many as 39 teams from different States, UTs and Regional Sports Boards across the country are participating in this tournament being conducted by the Sports Department, Punjab from March 12 to 19. These players are employees of their respective state and central government departments.

During the opening ceremony at the Sports Stadium in Sector 78, Meet Hayer formally inaugurated the tournament by hitting a shot with the bat. He was also introduced to the captains of all the teams. Speaking earlier, he welcomed the players of all the teams and wished them for better performance. He shared his memories of playing cricket from his childhood and said that he still plays cricket when he gets time.

Describing the sports sector as the top priority of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led State Government, Meet Hayer said that this time the budget of the sports department has been kept at Rs. 258 Cr which is more than 55 percent as compared to last year. This will give a big boost to the sports sector.

Earlier, Director Sports Amit Talwar welcomed the Chief Guest and all the teams and briefed about the tournament.

On this occasion, players from other states were very impressed by the martial art Gatka and Jugni Bhangra Academy’s folk dance Bhangra performances.

Prominent among others who were present at the occasion included Punjab Youth Development Board Chairman Parminder Singh Goldy, District Planning Board Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur, ADC (General) Amaninder Kaur Brar and District Sports Officer Gurdeep Kaur.

TRIALS OF PUNJAB TEAMS FOR ALL INDIA SERVICES VOLLEYBALL AND ATHLETICS TOURNAMENTS ON 14TH MARCH

     Central Civil Services Cultural and Board are organizing the All India Services Volleyball (Men & Women) tournament from 22nd to 26th March 2023 at Central Stadium Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) and Athletics (Men & Women) tournament from 26th to 28th March 2023 at Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune (Maharashtra).          Trials for the selection of Volleyball and Athletics teams will be held at Polo ground Patiala on 14th March at 10 am.          The spokesman of the sports department further informed that in these trials security services personnel/para-security organizations/central police organizations/police/RPF/CISF/BSF/ITBP and NSG etc., autonomous parties/undertakings/public sector Banks including central ministry run banks, excluding casual/daily workers, temporary office workers, newly recruited employees who have been in regular services for less than 6 months, Government employees (regular), government officials (regular) of different departments can participate only after receiving NoC from their departments. The cost of travel, accommodation and food in this tournament will be paid by the player personally. 

ZERO TOLERANCE AGAINST ILLEGAL MINING, 4 POCLAIN MACHINES AND 5 TIPPERS SEIZED IN RUPNAGAR DISTRICT: MEET HAYER

Following the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to provide sand to the residents of the state at reasonable prices and to take strict action against illegal mining, the mining department carried out a major operation last night by raiding various places in Rupnagar district and 4 Poclain machines and 5 Tippers have been seized from Sava River.Divulging the details here today, Mining Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that on the basis of confidential information, the mining department and the police department jointly acted and raided the villages adjacent to the Sava River at Sri Anandpur Sahib. During this raid, 4 Poclain machines and 5 Tippers were seized for illegal mining.Meet Hayer said that the State Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has zero tolerance against any kind of mafia and will not tolerate any illegal activities. While the department has provided necessary sand to the common people from 32 public sites at the rate of Rs.5.50 per square feet, added Meet Hayer.

PGI’s National Health System Cost Database launched at the International Symposium on Health Technology Assessment

India’s National Health System Cost Database jointly developed by PGI Chandigarh, in partnership with the Government of India’s Department of Health Research was launched during the international symposium on Health Technology Assessment (ISHTA) held on the 10th March in New Delhi. The Symposium was inaugurated by the Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, which was presided over by the Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya. This national database provides public access to the cost data that has been collected as a part of the national study on Cost of Health Services in India, led by PGI Chandigarh, and which has been carried out across nearly 90 public and private hospitals across 14 states of India.  The Health and Family Welfare minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, in his inaugural address emphasized that the assessments of health care interventions and new health technologies is the need of the hour and highlighted the importance of data on costs and use of HTA as a guide to making decisions for rolling of new healthcare interventions especially in context of emerging countries like India. Along the same lines, the Secretary DHR and Director General ICMR Dr Rajiv Bahl highlighted the need to create much stronger evidence for the cost of healthcare and reiterated the need for building repositories of cost data that should be used for policy-making and research. He also stressed on the need to create greater expertise on health economics.The development of this cost database was led by Dr. Shankar Prinja, who is professor of health economics at the PGI Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and the Centre for Global Development, Europe. Professor Prinja, the principal investigator of this PGI led study, informed that this study has been used extensively for the revision of benefit packages under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). The major revision of prices in PM-JAY which was done in 2022, was guided by the findings of this national study. This cost repository is intended for a diverse set of users including researchers as well as policymakers making resource allocation decisions, and setting prices of health care services. This also goes in line with the Government of India’s thrust of transparent sharing of the research data for wider use as a public good.The international symposium with the theme “Affordability, Availability and Accessibility of Healthcare Technologies through Evidence generated by Health Technologies Assessments (HTA) for Universal Health Coverage” brought together multiple stakeholders including policymakers, researchers, academia as well as the industry partners from over 25 countries.

Hry CM interacts directly with the beneficiaries of PM- SVANIDHI Yojana of the state

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal directly interacted with the beneficiaries of PM-SVANidhi Yojana through virtual medium today.

The Chief Minister said that during the Covid phase, Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi gave the slogan of Atmanirbhar Bharat and launched the PM-SVANidhi scheme.

Today this scheme has been embraced by many new entrepreneurs in the country, due to which there has been a qualitative improvement in their lives. The Prime Minister has extended this scheme till December 2024.

Expressing gratitude towards the Chief Minister, the beneficiaries stated that this scheme launched by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi has turned out to be a blessing for them.

In this scheme, the beneficiary receives an amount of Rs. 10 thousand without any interest, and may assist them in beginning and growing their own business. The Haryana government has also done welfare work by providing funds for employment to the needy.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that about 55 thousand people had applied under the PM- SVANIDHI scheme in Haryana. Out of these, about 36 thousand eligible street vendors received loan assistance. A total loan of Rs. 48 crores have been disbursed so far. 7 percent interest on this loan is given by the Central Government and 2 percent interest is given by the State Government. So far, an amount of more than Rs. 1 crores has been paid to the banks as interest.

Government aims to benefit 1 lakh people under PM-SVANidhi

Sh. Manohar Lal said that the number of street vendors in the state is above 1 lakh, so the beneficiaries who have taken advantage of this scheme should encourage others to take the benefits of this scheme. The government aims to benefit 1 lakh people across the state. For this, fairs will be organized to provide loans to street vendors.

The objective of these fairs is to motivate the street vendors to grow their businesses. Under this scheme, street vendors are given a loan of Rs. 10,000 as the first installment, Rs. 20,000 is given as the second installment and Rs. 50, 000 in the third installment. The beneficiary is not required to give any guarantee for this loan.

Haryana government is running many schemes for the welfare and upliftment of poor families

The Chief Minister said that the Haryana government is also running several schemes for the welfare and upliftment of poor families. The data of the members of 72 lakh families of the state has been collected through Parivar Pehchan Patra.

Special attention is being paid to the upliftment of families whose annual income is less than Rs. 1.80 lakh. For this, the Chief Minister has launched the Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana, which aims at the economic upliftment of such families. According to PPP data, there are about 7.5 lakh such families.

So far about 1.5 lakh such families have been called and 37,000 families have been provided loans through banks for self-employment. About 42,000 more families have been selected, which will be provided with loan assistance in future. The next year’s target is to enhance the income of 2 lakh such families, CM added.

          He said that by expanding the scope of Ayushman Yojana, Haryana Chirayu Yojana has also been started. In this, free treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh is provided annually to the poor family. With the implementation of Chirayu Yojana, 28.89 lakh families are now being covered in the state.

He said that Chirag Yojana has been started with the aim of providing equal opportunity to the children of poor families to study in recognized private schools. Under this scheme, students whose parents’ annual income is up to Rs. 1.80 lakh, those eligible students are admitted in private schools from 2nd to 12th standard. Under this, Rs. 700 per month till 5th, Rs. 900 till 10th and Rs. 1100 per month till 12th are being ensured by the state government.

Health department is geared to deal with H3N2 influenza virus: Health Minister Anil Vij

Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that the health department is completely prepared to deal with H3N2 influenza virus. There is no need for people to panic, added the Health Minister.

Sh. Vij was responding to a question asked by a media person regarding the death of a person in Jind due to H3N2 influenza virus, here today.

Directions given to health department to probe in the death case cause due to H3N2 influenza virus– Vij

He said that so far 10 patients of H3N2 influenza virus have been detected in Haryana, out of which one has died, who was a resident of Jind. The deceased patient was suffering from lung cancer, so directions have been given to the Health Department to investigate whether Death has occurred due to cancer or H3N2 virus.

It is worth mentioning that it is H3N2 virus, a subtype of Influenza A, regarding which the Indian Medical Association has also issued an advisory. In this disease, the patient has problems like high fever, severe headache, pain in the body, sore throat, severe cough, cold and congestion in the lungs. There are a total of 90 cases of H3N2 influenza in India.

It is being informed that in any such symptoms, it is important to stay hydrated and complete rest is required. Do not eat outside food at all and take a fluid diet. This will give relief soon. Also, keep distance from those who are infected with it and keep your hands sanitized and follow social distancing.

It is further informed that the symptoms of H3N2 are similar to Covid infection. Both of these are viral infections which may mutate very fast. That’s why there is a need to be cautious

Haryana Sahitya Akademi honours Women journalists

Haryana Sahitya Akademi celebrated International Women’s Day by honouring women journalists at its premises here on Friday.

The function was organised by Haryana Urdu Academy and Sahitya Academy.

While speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest, Dr Sonia Khullar said that it’s a matter of immense pleasure that today women in our society are independent to choose their career and continue to grab big positions in government and corporate sector by their hard work.

She said that working in the field of journalism was never easy for women but they have shown their worth by dedication and honesty and that’s why journalism has become a preference for women these days. Dr. Chander Trikha,  Director of Akademi said that Journalism is not only a way to earn but also a social service.

CM addresses meeting of vice-chancellors and registrars of state universities

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that education is the investment that secures the future for the progress of the society and brings light to the life of every person. The Chief Minister was addressing a meeting with vice-chancellors and registrars of state’s government universities organized under the chairmanship of Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya at Raj Bhavan here today. Higher Education Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma and Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council, Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala were also present in the meeting.

New education policy milestone for the state

The Chief Minister said that the universities should take a pledge that every citizen of the society should get benefit of the new education policy and should try to fulfil every parameter created for its implementation. “Along with this, they should review the new education policy at every stage and make every possible effort to achieve its goals,” he added.

He said that a check list and ready reckoner has been prepared for the new education policy. “Under this policy, youth will be educated with multiple-skills in the universities. Along with education from KG-level to PG and integrated education in several universities; special attention should also be paid to research work to fully implement the new education policy in the state by 2025,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

Universities should emerge as self-finance centres

The Chief Minister said that in the new education policy, universities will have to work as self-finance centres. He said that the universities should conduct employment-oriented courses, besides giving priority to technical courses; so that better employment opportunities can be available to the students after completing their education.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that universities should conduct courses in PPP mode; which would make them financially self-sufficient. He said that the children of families whose income is less than Rs 1.80 lakh will be given a facility of fees by the government.

The Chief Minister said that education is a better sector to spend CSR funds and for this, the alumni meet should be made a role model. “If the alumni meet becomes a role model, then I will be the first participant to contribute and that is why the universities have to become self-sufficient,” he said.

Attention should be laid on ranking of colleges

The Chief Minister said that attention should also be laid on the ranking of colleges affiliated to universities. “The manpower of the college students should be utilized in various types of surveys. There should be social exposure in the university and the students should get academic marks separately for planting saplings and for other social works,” he said.

Integration with data of 40 percent population

The Chief Minister said that the government has created a new dimension to take care of 2.87 crore people by dividing them into six categories according to their age. In this, the Women and Child Development Department has been given the responsibility of children up to the age of 6 years, the School Education Department to ensure zero dropout of children in the age group of 6 to 18 years and Higher Education Department for the youth of the age group of 18 to 25 years in colleges.

The Chief Minister said that along with enabling the youth in online education, education of cultural values should also be promoted to give them a new direction. He said that India will progress only if it becomes self-reliant in the field of employment.

New direction for youth through higher education: Mool Chand Sharma

Addressing the meeting, Higher Education Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma said that in the new education policy, the youth will become self-reliant and will also be able to provide employment. He said that the government has done a great job in giving new direction to the young generation for higher education.
