VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTS REGISTRY CLERK FOR TAKING BRIBE RS 20,000

IEP Chandigarh, November 9

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its campaign against corruption in the State on Wednesday arrested a registry clerk Gurmeet Kaur, posted at tehsil office Zirarkpur, SAS Nagar in a bribery case.

          Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said this case has been registered on a complainant filed by Harsimran Singh of village Adda Jhungian, Tehsil Derabassi against the above said woman clerk on the Chief Minister anti-corruption helpline.

          He informed that during the investigation of this complaint and the evidence in this regard, it was found that the registry clerk has received Rs 20,000 from the complainant to register his power of attorney.

          He informed that during the probe the allegations were found to be true and a corruption case has been registered against the said woman revenue official at the Vigilance Bureau flying squad-1, Police Station, SAS Nagar under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation was under progress.

PUNJAB WILL BE TB FREE BY 2025: CHETAN SINGH JAURAMAJRA

Elaborating on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government’s achievement and future plan to eradicate TB by 2025, Health and Family Welfare Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra on Wednesday said that eight districts of Punjab has already received bronze category certification and the department has set an aim to get five more districts in silver category and three more in bronze category in the coming year.

          Revealing this, the Health Minister said that for the year 2022-23 department has set a target to identify and treat 70,000 patients. He said that Punjab Health and Family Welfare department has organised a two day workshop at the MGSIPA Chandigarh with an aim to eradicate TB by bringing down the new incidence of TB cases by more than 80%. He said that this workshop has been organized as a part of the nationwide efforts by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) to find, test and treat more and more TB cases by actively collaborating with partners, private sector, patients and communities to measure progress and identify gaps for course correction.

          Mr. Jauramajra further said that the department has recently conducted a state level meeting of about 40 business houses of the state and appealed to them to enroll themselves as Ni-kshay Mitras. He instructed the DTOs to get in touch with them and take this to the next level. He reiterated that the target of TB elimination may seem huge and difficult but with collective efforts it would be achieved.

          Giving details regarding workshop, Mission Director National Health Mission Abhinav Trikha said that this workshop was attended by state and district health officials, faculty members cum nodal officers from IAPSM. He said that during this workshop the officials were instructed to work in tandem to achieve the desired target of TB elimination within the set timeframe and appreciation certificates have been awarded to the health officials and workers of the eight districts namely Fatehgarh Sahib, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Kapurthala, Faridkot, Ferozepur,Moga, Roopnagar and Tarn Taran for their efforts which resulted in reduction in incidence of new TB cases.  He said that the department has received feedback from the participants for successful implementation of the NTEP besides assuring the District TB Officers to resolve their issues.

          Divulging details regarding the NTEP, Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Ranjit Singh Ghotra stated that this programme provides free diagnostic services and free treatment to all notified TB patients in public system as well as private sector. He said that the Programme also provides monthly 500 rupees to all patients for nutritional support under Nikshay Poshan Yojana through DBT.

Impart professional training to Sewer men regarding safe cleaning of manholes, says Chief Secretary

While considering the safety of the Sewer men involved in the manhole cleaning work, the Haryana Chief Secretary today directed the officers of Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran to impart necessary training to all sewer men to clean up the manholes and septic tanks safely.

        While chairing a meeting regarding this issue, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal directed the officers concerned to eliminate the process of manual cleaning of sewers and septic tanks.

        As per the directions given by the Chief Secretary, the Public Health Engineering Department has been appointed as the nodal department. For redressal of complaints received regarding this issue, the concerned department should also issue a helpline number, directed Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal.

        The Chief Secretary further directed that the format for sending monthly reports to the government should be simplified so that common people can also use them.

        Sh. Kaushal was apprised that Public Health Engineering Department has imparted training to 1098 Sewer men. Furthermore, the Urban Local Bodies Department has also imparted training to sewermen.

Ensure strict adherence to the Supreme Court’s directions regarding compensation given to Sewer men who had lost their lives during the cleaning, Chief Secretary

        The Chief Secretary said that the directions of the Supreme Court regarding giving compensation to the Sewer men who had lost their lives during the cleaning should be followed meticulously so that the family of the deceased can get full benefits.

Punjab government to strengthen cyber security, online fraud will be dealt with iron hand: Harpal Singh Cheema

Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday said that the Punjab government would strengthen the cyber security initiatives to safeguard common people from online frauds with the help of latest cyber security measures.

          During a meeting with young entrepreneur Trishneet Arora, founder and CEO of TAC Security, who called him at his official residence here, the Finance Minister said that the Punjab government has been working to create a dynamic check against the cyber frauds. He said that apart from this, the Punjab government has been using modern cyber security measures for online payment of its various services.

          Trishneet Arora while appreciating the cyber security measures being used by the Punjab government said that the government’s seriousness towards cyber security is the need of the hour. He shared his experiences in this direction and suggested several tools and measures. He said that strengthening the cyber security system would also benefit in maintaining the law and order situation in the state.

          Cheema took note of Arora’s suggestions on cyber security and asked him to keep in touch for further discussions on this issue. The Finance Minister asked him to contribute his best for the welfare of the state while adding that young entrepreneurs like him were encouragement to the youth of the country.

Legal Aid Clinic inaugurated at Amity University, SAS Nagar

On the occasion of Legal Services Day, a Legal Aid Clinic was inaugurated at Amity University, SAS Nagar by Sh. Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar and Sh. Arun Gupta, Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority. Legal Services Day was celebrated by Punjab State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar by organizing a Mega Legal Services Camp at Amity University, Mohali as per NALSA module. In the Legal Services Camp, stalls of District Legal Services Authority, Food & Civil Supplies, Development of Women and Children Department, Cooperative Bank, Department of Social Justice Empowerment, Rural Department, Health and Family Department, Employment Department, Municipal Corporation, Mohali, BDPO office and Punjab National Bank were installed for making the people aware about the services and for processing their applications. During camp, 129 applications were received whereas 1236 applications had already been received during the door to door campaign launched by District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar. All the applications are being processed and 53 applications have already been allowed and benefits have been delivered to the applicants.
Sh. Arun Gupta, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority while addressing the gathering impressed the people to seek benefits of free legal services being provided by the Legal Services Authorities. He also made the people aware about the Victim Compensation Schemes of State and National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi.
Sh. Amit Talwar, Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar appealed the students to spread awareness among the masses regarding welfare schemes of the Government and to assist them in availing benefits under such Schemes.

4,000 legislators to take part in National Legislators’ Conf next year

National Legislators’ Conference (NLC) is being jointly organised by the legislative bodies, non-governmental institutions and civil society with active support of the MIT School of Government, Pune in Mumbai from June 16 to 18 next year. Around 4,000 legislators representing various political parties from across the country are expected to attend it.

Voting will be held on November 9 for 1244 Panchayat Samiti members and 158 Zilla Parishad members in 57 blocks of 9 districts

Haryana State Election Commissioner, Sh. Dhanpat Singh said that all preparations have been completed for Panchayat Samiti members and Zilla Parishad members for the second phase in the state. Polling will be held on November 9 for 1244 Panchayat Samiti members and 158 Zilla Parishad members in 57 blocks of 9 districts Ambala, Charkhi Dadri, Gurugram, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Rewari, Rohtak, Sirsa, and Sonipat. In the second phase, polling will be held on November 12, 2022, for the post of Sarpanch and Panch.State Election Commissioner, Sh. Dhanpat Singh said that in the nine districts where the second phase of polling is going to be held, all the preparations related to security and all other facilities have been completed. Guidelines have been issued to all the supervisors. Along with this, a heavy police force has been deployed at sensitive polling booths. Sh. Dhanpat Singh said that keeping in mind the convenience of voters necessary arrangements like drinking water, electricity, wheelchair for disabled voters etc. have been ensured at all polling station.Sh. Dhanpat Singh said that these EVMs will be kept at a safe place after the voting of Panchayat Samiti members and Zilla Parishad Committee members. Tight police security arrangements will be in place at these places. After the elections of Panchayat Samiti members and Zilla Parishad members in all the districts are over, their results will be declared.There are 48,67,132 voters in the second phaseSh. Dhanpat Singh informed that there are total 48, 67, 132 voters in 9 districts of the second phase. These include 25, 89, 270 males, 22, 77, 795 females, and 67 others. Sh. Dhanpat Singh informed that there are 5,963 polling stations in these 9 districts, out of which 976 are sensitive and 1023 are highly sensitive stations.Panchayat election activities will be updated on ‘Mhari Panchayat Portal’Sh. Dhanpat Singh said that the activities of Panchayat elections will be updated on the ‘Mhari Panchayat Portal’. The voting percentages can be seen anywhere in the state by opening the Mhari Panchayat Portal through the internet. At the same time, the results will be visible on the e-dashboard on the day of counting. Anyone can see the election trends, voting percentages, and final results on the portal while sitting at home.

International Gita Mahotsav-2022 will be organized in Kurukshetra from November 19 to December 6

International Gita Mahotsav-2022 will be organized in Kurukshetra from November 19 to December 6. In various programmes, work will be done to spread the teachings of the Gita among the youth through subject experts.

Sh. Vijay Dahiya, the nodal officer of International Gita Mahotsav-2022 and member secretary of KDB, took feedback report of the preparations being made for the festival through video conferencing and also gave necessary directions to the officers to complete all the arrangements within the stipulated time. Several senior officers including Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Shantanu Sharma were also present.

In Gita Mahotsav, directions have been given to make adequate security arrangements, traffic, parking, as well as to repair Brahmasarovar and the main roads of the city. Apart from this proper arrangements for drinking water, toilets, and sewerage, etc. within a set timeframe.

He asked for organizing competitions at the state level regarding the festival, involving more and more school children in the global Gita recitation. Along with this, directions were also given to complete the preparations for the three-day International Gita Seminar to be held at Kurukshetra University in time.

He said that the Haryana Arts and Cultural Affairs Department and Haryana Kala Parishad as well as officials of North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala will organize cultural programmes at 48 Kos pilgrimage sites along with Gita Mahotsav. This time ‘Saras’ and Craft fair will also be organized in International Gita Mahotsav and the main programmes will be organized from November 29- December 4.

After becoming the Vice President of India, Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar today visited village Garhi Sampla,  birthplace of Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram.

The Vice President said that if we talk about the security of borders, patriotism has always been paramount among the youth of Haryana and they never step back while making their supreme sacrifice for the nation.

The Vice President arrived today as the chief guest at the third convocation of Baba Mastnath University located at Asthal Bohar in Rohtak district. With him, the Second Lady of India, Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar also reached to offer her blessings to the students. Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal was also present on the occasion. The Vice President presented degrees and medals to 2145 students at the convocation.

Congratulating the students who received the degree, Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar said that education has the power of transformation. Convocation is a very important moment in the life of the students, which they should never forget. After leaving University, students should work for the society with a sense of service, considering the nation and society paramount.

He said that Baba Mastnath University is educating the cultured and patriotic youth for the country and he is happy that Chancellor Mahant Balak Nath Yogi has informed that Sainik School is also being opened here soon.

Jagdeep Dhankhar felt proud during his first visit to Haryana

The Vice President said that he is feeling extremely proud to be in Haryana as the farmers and soldiers of Haryana have always given their best for the security of the nation. Today the sports persons of Haryana are also bringing laurels to the state and the country.

He said that the Haryana tour has started from the birthplace of Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram and he is feeling proud and motivated by paying homage to Chhotu Ram, he added.

Vice President appreciates Haryana’s sports policy

Praising the sports policy of Haryana Government formulated under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar said that earlier if children were interested in sports, their parents used to scold them for studying instead of playing. But today the parents of Haryana perceive sports as a career due to the great achievements of the players of Haryana in the field of sports.

Today India became a global land in terms of opportunities and investments

Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar said that today India is developing at a fast pace. There is no scarcity of opportunities in India. India has today become a global land in terms of opportunities and investments. India has become the fifth largest economy in the world today. We get ahead of those who ruled India. If India continues to grow at this rapid pace, India will soon be the third largest economy.

He said that students are the future of the country. Students should never underestimate their talent and should try innovations. Referring to his own example, he said that if he didn’t get the scholarship in Sainik School, Chittorgarh, he would not have been able to complete his law studies. 

He said that at the time when he became a Member of Parliament in 1989, there were 50 gas connections available every year to an MP. Today, the central government has set a new dimension by giving 18 crore free gas connections. Besides this, free ration is being given to 80 crore people from April 1, 2020. He said that no country in the world would have achieved such a feat which has been set for 138 crore population by applying both doses of corona vaccination.

He further said that a positive change has been attained after 34 years by making the New Education Policy – 2020 which is no less than a revolution in itself.

Responsibility of youth to perform fundamental duties

Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar appealed to the youth to take an oath today that they will give equal emphasis on Fundamental Duties as enshrined in the Constitution, as given to Fundamental Rights. It is necessary to follow the fundamental duties, as it will draw positive results. He urged the youth to always respect their parents, teachers, and elders and contribute to nation-building.

Vice President is an inspiration for youth – Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal

Welcoming the Vice President on the occasion, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that Sh. Dhankhar is also an economist and a source of inspiration to the youth besides a political leader. He stated that he himself is impressed by his persona. Sh. Manohar Lal said that while being the Governor of West Bengal, Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar solved the major issues there, which hardly any other person could have imagined. 

While congratulating the degree holders and their parents, the Chief Minister said that from today onwards the students are going to climb a new ladder in their lives and only after working with the spirit of service to society, they will relish great heights.

He said that students should move ahead in life with the spirit of ‘come to learn-go to serve’. They should never forget today’s moment because after getting the degree they are going to work for society and the nation.

New education policy will be implemented in Haryana till 2025

Sh. Manohar Lal said that a lot of progress has been made in the education sector in Haryana during his tenure. The new education policy implemented by the central government has set a target to be implemented in the states by the year 2030, but we will implement it by the year 2025.

He said that Ayurveda has the art of keeping the human body healthy, whereas in Allopathy there is treatment after the illness. Therefore, efforts will be made to get the same degree in systems like Allopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, etc.

MBBS seats will be enhanced to 3050 in Haryana

Sh. Manohar Lal said that in the year 2014, there were only 750 MBBS seats in Haryana, which has increased to 1700 today. We are opening medical colleges in every district and with the opening of medical colleges in every district, with that MBBS seats will also be enhanced to 3050. He said that AIIMS of Ayurveda is also being opened in Panchkula. Apart from this, Ayurveda centres will also be opened in the village.

On this occasion, Mahant Balaknath Yogi, Chancellor of the University also expressed special gratitude to both the guests. Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal, Rajya Sabha MPs, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar and Sh. Ram Chander Jangra, BJP State President, Sh. OP Dhankhar and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

In coming years, many new taxpayers will join and people’s ability to pay taxes will increase, says Dushyant Chautala

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala, who also holds the portfolio of Excise and Taxation, said that India will lead in the system of “One Tax – One Nation” with the cooperation of every individual. He said that in the coming years, many new taxpayers will join and the tax-paying capacity of the people will increase. Apart from this, he said that Haryana is making changes in the tax system from Module 1 to Module 2.

Sh. Dushyant was addressing the attendees at the TIOL Awards function at the Taj Hotel in New Delhi on Tuesday. It is noteworthy that TIOL aims to act as a credible channel for providing tax-compliant taxpayers, tax technology service providers, proactive facilitators, tax-friendly commissionerates, reformed states to the wheels of economic growth, motivating taxpayers along with giving feedback to policymakers.

Haryana played a leading role in implementing the VAT tax system- Sh. Dushyant Chautala

He said that Haryana is making a transition from Module-I to Module II in the tax system, while this change is not easy, Haryana had taken the lead in implementing the VAT tax system in the year 2003, and after that other states introduced VAT. Tax system was already adopted. Dushyant said that after this, between 2003 and 2006, there was a change due to the implementation of VAT system in the country and after that other states also adopted VAT. He said that in the year 2017 when Sh. Arun Jaitley was the Finance Minister of the country, he took a step and said that we are bringing the tax system under one roof.

Haryana leads in per capita receiver goods in small states except for Goa and Delhi – Sh. Dushyant Chautala

Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant said that today when GST compensation has been stopped, he stated in Parliament that not all producing states would be as healthy as consumption- states. He proudly said that today Haryana is a producing state with a population of less than 3 crores and Haryana is at the forefront of per capita receiver goods in small states except for Goa and Delhi.

Officials of the United Kingdom are training more than 200 officers of Haryana in relation to the tax system – Sh. Dushyant Chautala

Sh. Chautala said that in collaboration with the British High Commission, the officials of the United Kingdom are training more than 200 officers of Haryana regarding the tax system. He said that we are every day learning new things in the tax regime. This is our annual programme and it is also necessary for the rapid development of the country.

Activity of every GST member will contribute to the development of the country- Sh. Dushyant Chautala

While congratulating the GST team, he said that the activism of every GST member of the Central and State Governments will contribute to the development of the country. He said that I have learned a lot in the last three years on how to reform the tax system, day-to-day demands, and how to cover small and medium businesses in the GST Council. After this, we have taken many decisions and due to those decisions, work was done in making the tax system faster and better. He added that digitalization has taken the country forward. He added that we need to cooperate with everyone in the environment of the tax system and in the development of the country; cooperation is expected from the Center and the state as well as the taxpayers.

Cooperation is also being done by corporations and businessmen etc. in tax reform- Sh. Dushyant Chautala

He said that the government is also being supported by corporations, businesses, etc. in day to day collection of tax and reformation of the tax system. He said that former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and Rajya Sabha MP, Sh. Sushil Modi and I did a phenomenal job to convert the tax system to GST. He said that we went ahead with the vision of Sushil Modi and this transformation during Covid supported us.

TIOL did a good job in tax assessment in the country – Sh. Dushyant Chautala

Regarding TIOS, he expressed happiness and said that TIOL has done a commendable job of assessing the tax of the entire country as well as the states.

On this occasion, he also honoured compliant taxpayers, tax technology service providers, proactive facilitators, tax-friendly commissionerates, etc.
