Transport department blacklisted 5706 BS-IV vehicles registered fraudulently after April 1, 2020: Laljit Singh Bhullar

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab government has blacklisted 5706 BS-IV vehicles registered fraudulently for violating the guidelines of the Supreme Court of India. The state government has also taken action against those vehicles, whose taxes were due and documents were incomplete and all services related to these vehicles have been blocked.

Divulging further, Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar informed that as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court of India, a complete ban was imposed on the registration of high-polluting BS-IV vehicles after March 31, 2020, but this type of vehicles had been registered fraudulently, of which the transport department has identified 5706 vehicles so far.

The Cabinet Minister said, the investigation revealed that the vehicle owners, company dealers and clerks, assistants, accountants of RTA/SDM Offices and some senior officials manipulated with engine and chassis number and vehicle manufacturing details and registration of these vehicles was done besides evading taxes.

The Cabinet Minister informed that besides this, many vehicle dealers continued their dealerships without getting themselves registered in the office of the State Transport Commissioner (STC) at that time and they have been found to be involved in fraud with the government by registering such vehicles on a large scale in their own names. Even many such dealers have got themselves registered fraudulently on the portal NIC (National Informatics Center). He said that the registration documents of many vehicles were found to be incomplete during investigation.

“The department has uploaded the list of fraudulently registered BS-IV and other vehicles on the website of the department, informed Transport Minister, adding that so far 5706 vehicles have been identified and investigation is on for identification of other vehicles. He said that the erring employees and persons involved will not be spared at any cost. He directed the Secretary Transport and State Transport Commissioner to initiate the process of collecting due taxes from the accused and take legal action against them under Indian Penal Code and other relevant rules.

APPROXIMATELY RS. 100 CRORES WILL BE SPENT ON DEVELOPMENT WORKS FOR THE BEAUTIFICATION OF THE CITY OF AMRITSAR IN CONNECTION WITH THE G-20 SUMMIT

To review the preparations being made for the G-20 Summit, a meeting of the Sub-Cabinet Committee under the Chairmanship of Local Government was held today on Monday at the Municipal Bhawan, Chandigarh. The members of Cabinet sub committee Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Harjot Singh Bains and Harbhajan Singh were also present in the meeting.Giving information in this regard,  Local Government  Minister, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that the G-20 summit is going to be held in the holy city of Amritsar in March 2023 possibly on 15 to 17 March 2023.  The Presidents and Prime Ministers of G-20 countries and other international delegates will participate in this summit. He said that it is a matter of great pride that this international level event is going to be held in the state of Punjab.Cabinet Minister Dr.Nijjar further informed that approximately Rs. 100 crores will be spent on development works for the beautification of the city of Amritsar for the G-20 summit.  The extensive arrangements will be made for the success of this global event. The local government minister disclosed that with this international event, the state will emerge on the global tourism map, it would also give boost to the investment in the state.On this occasion, he gave the details of the works to be done to strengthen the beauty and basic infrastructure of the city and said that whatever work will be done will be not only for the program, but will be strong and sustainable works according to the needs of the city residents. He said that the works to be done include repairing roads, street lights, making green belts, painting the Golden Gate, improving solid waste management, signage boards, and electricity.  Includes traffic light works.The Cabinet Sub committee has directed the concerned officers present in the meeting to ensure that every development work to be done at Amritsar is completed within the stipulated time.

RESIDENTIAL & INDUSTRIAL URBAN ESTATES TO BE DEVELOPED IN PATIALA AND SANGRUR: AMAN ARORA

Reaffirming the commitment to ensure planned development in the urban areas of the state, new Urban Estates meant both for residential and industrial purpose would be developed by the Patiala Development Authority (PDA) in near future in different cities falling under its jurisdiction, revealed Mr. Aman Arora, Minister for Housing and Urban Development (H&UD).Chairing a meeting to review the ongoing and upcoming projects and functioning of PDA at PUDA Bhawan, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Mr. Aman Arora stated that residential and industrial urban estates in Patiala, Sangrur and Samana are proposed to be developed. He asked the officials concerned to get scrutinize the applications from the Screening Committee regarding land acquisition/land pooling in the next 15 days.The Cabinet Minister Mr. Aman Arora and Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development Mr. Ajoy Kumar Sinha also reviewed the Rejuvenation of Badi Nadi and Chotti Nadi project, construction of STPs & ETP and laying of sewer network at Patiala. The  H&UD Minister was apprised that PDA proposes to provide 24×7 canal based water supply to Urban Estate 1, 2, 3, 4 and PDA Omaxe City.Apart from this, future projects to be undertaken by PDA were also discussed along with regulatory activities being executed. Mr. Aman Arora also directed the Chief Administrator PDA Mr. Gautam Jain to expedite the process for clearing pendency of cases of different nature as well as work for providing basic amenities in authorized projects.

PUNJAB GOVERNMENT SEEKS APPLICATIONS FROM NGOS REGARDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: DR. BALJIT KAUR

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government is making continuous efforts for welfare of children, women, disabled and elderly people. As a part of these efforts, Punjab Government has seeked applications from NGOs to give financial assistance under “Plan Scheme PM-6 Assistance to NGOs”.Last date for filling applications is November 21 for financial year 2022-23.

          Divulging the details in this regard, the Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the Punjab government has made plan to take cooperation of NGOs for proper implementation of welfare schemes of the children, women, disabled, elderly in lieu of which government will provide them funds.

          She said that the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) who are willing to get assistance under the scheme, can apply through scheme link of planning department https://tinyurl.com/493n4kvs and departmental website https://sswcd.punjab.gov.in

Deputy Speaker writes a Letter to Punjab Govt. to declare ‘Chhinjh Chharahan Di’ as a heritage fair.

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Jai krishan Singh Rauri has written a letter to Punjab Government to declare ‘Chhinjh Chharahan Di’ as a heritage fair.

In this letter, S. Rauri said that from the first Sunday of the month of Maghara every year, this Chhinjh fair is held for four consecutive days at the village of Achalpur Majari, a semi-mountainous area under Garshankar of Hoshiarpur district. He said that this historic fair needs to be preserved as a sign of heritage.

S. Rauri further wrote that the Punjab government is constantly striving hard for preserving the rich heritage of Punjab for the next generation. The people of the this region have been demanding to declare the historical fair ‘Chhinjh Chharahan Di’ as a heritage fair for a long time. In the book of eighth class, published by the Punjab School Education Board, the article ‘Chhinjh Chharahan Di’ written by the renowned writer Amrik Singh Dayal is being taught in schools from the last ten years.

He said that since the region was backward and hilly, this fair could not be promoted and neither the previous governments paid any attention to this.

Govt School Students can send designs for logo of School of Eminence: Harjot Singh Bains

Students of government schools can send their designs till November 10, 2022 for the logo of ‘School of Eminence’ being established under the first phase by the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government. It was disclosed by Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

The Cabinet Minister said that all the school heads have been instructed through a letter. He said that the children studying fine arts, drawing and painting in class 11 and 12 should prepare an effective and meaningful logo and send it to the head office by November 10 through concerned district offices. For this five key guiding points have also been issued for depicting good infrastructure facilities in schools, use of multimedia and other e-resources for digital education, well-equipped libraries and laboratories, sports facilities and facilities for co-academic activities.

Mr. Bains said that the first three designs will be chosen at state level and the designers would be awarded with cash rewards. He added that the first prize is Rs 5100, the second prize is Rs 3100, while the third prize is Rs. 2100. However, the state level jury will have all the rights to take the final decision in this regard.

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker greets people on the Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr. Kultar Singh Sandhwan has extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of 553rd Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Awareness Key to Fighting Cancer: Dr. Sunil Sadiq

Vidya  Jyoti Eduversity Derabassi celebrated National Cancer Awareness Day. Dr. Sunil Sadiq, Director, Philadelphia Hospital, Ambala City, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Programme started with the welcome addressed by Campus Director, Dr. Amit Bhatti. Dr Sadiq, spoke about various types of cancer, what are its preventive measures and treatment.

Dr.  Sadiq  said, “Timely diagnosis is important as the cancer only starts showing its symptoms at an advanced stage and, therefore, the key to prevention is early detection and treatment.” National Cancer Awareness Day is being observed on November 7 with the birth anniversary of Nobel Prize winning Scientist Madam Curie. International Cancer Awareness Day is being observed on 05th February.  Director Dr. D.J Singh also thanked to Dr. Sadiq and Dr. Amit for valuable words on National Cancer Awareness Day.

Value addition and Value creation need of the hour to make agriculture a profitable venture: Fauja Singh Sarari

          The 15th edition of CII Agro Tech India came to a conclusion on Monday. The key message from the valedictory session of the four-day Premier Agri and Food Technology Fair was that farming is a tradition, and passion for people in Punjab. The power of research also needs to be given its due importance.

The chief guest of the session in his address Fauja Singh Sarari, Hon’ble Minister for Food Processing & Horticulture,said, “The Government of Punjab led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken a number of initiatives to give a major boost to agriculture through policy reforms as well as innovation and technological application at the grassroot level.

While congratulating CII on successful hosting of Agro Tech India 2022, Mr. Sarari said that Farmers and industry have been brought on one platform and it has provided and opened doors for many opportunities.He underlined the relative importance of agriculture and industry as the latter helps in value creation as well as value addition which prove to be mutually beneficial both for the farmers and industrialists.

He stated that Punjab plays a major role in nation’s food security by contributing 11.78 % in rice production and 17.57% in wheat production, therefore Punjab’s farmers need to be appropriately compensated for their hard work.

           A major aim of Agro Tech India is to create awareness on agriculture schemes of the government such as AIF ( Agriculture Infrastructure Fund), Punjab has been marching ahead in implementation of this scheme which has attracted investment to the tune of 1800 crore rupees till October 2022”    

 Talking about the initiative of the Punjab government he disclosed that Punjab is encouraging Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) with incentive which is helpful in saving of 20 % water as compared to traditional method.

CII has acted as the funnel for taking relevant information to the farmer. We need to shun the culture of educated youth wanting only white-collar jobs. The youth need to learn how to be job creators as well.”

At this stage, the dates of CII Agro Tech Indi 2024 were also announced from November 16-19, 2024.

120 KLPD Ethanol Plant to be set up in Karnal Sugar Mill, says CM Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday directed the officers to focus on increasing the income of Karnal Sugar Mill. Along with this project, the project of making jaggery and ‘shakkar’ will also begin at the earliest. Apart from this, the work of installation of a yard, shed, solar plant, boundary wall and CCTV cameras should also be completed soon. The Chief Minister was interacting with the Board of Directors of Sugar Mill Board, farmers and office bearers of Bharatiya Kisan Union at Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mill located on Meerut Road today. He reviewed the development works and discussed the progress report with the officers. At the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed the preparations for the upcoming crushing session. During the meeting the Chief Minister was apprised that the families of 2650 farmers of 137 villages are associated with the sugar mill. In this sugar mill, a target has been set to crush 58 lakh quintals of sugarcane along with ensuring a recovery rate of 10 percent of sugarcane. The Chief Minister said that efforts should be made to run this mill at par. Continuous efforts are being made by the government to provide all facilities to the farmers and labourers in the sugar mills.

 Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the profit of sugar mills cannot be increased by making sugar, therefore, additional resources are being focused on the sugar mills. Keeping this subject in mind, a project of 120 KLPD will be set up which will significantly benefit the sugar mill. Along with this, jaggery and ‘shakkar’ will also be made soon in Karnal Sugar Mill. He has given directions to build a yard, shed, solar plant, boundary wall and installation of CCTV cameras in the sugar mill, fulfilling the demand of the directors of the board and the farmers. The Chief Minister extended best wishes to the sugar mill officers for securing first place in the state in technical efficiency of Karnal Sugar Mill. He said that in the coming crushing session, the farmers, labourers, board directors and union officials will work together so that the sugar mill operations could be improved and income of the mill can be increased.
