IRRIGATION FACILITIES IN AROUND 72,000 ACRES OF 9 DISTRICTS INCLUDING SIX OF SUB-MOUNTAINOUS AREA WILL BE STRENGTHEN: DR. NIJJAR

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government has started projects worth around Rs.90 crore for strengthening and improving irrigation facilities in the state using natural resources, which will provide irrigation facilities in 9 districts of the state. Similarly, a new project with a cost of Rs.100 crore has also been proposed for assistance of underground pipeline projects.

            Describing this here, Punjab Soil & Water Conservation Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that for integrated development of kandi area, a new watershed development programme has been started at a cost of Rs.80-CR with a target to benefit 70,000 acres of sub-mountainous area in Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, SBS Nagar, Rupnagar and SAS Nagar districts.

            “The Main focus of the scheme shall be on Natural Resource Management through rainwater harvesting, Farm Production, livelihood support and community development activities”, said Dr. Nijjar, adding that efforts have also been made for using treated water of four Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) for irrigation purposes.

            He informed that Rs7.71 Cr. has been allotted for laying infrastructure for productive utilization of treated waste water of 4 STPs for irrigation, which will provide irrigation facilities up to 2,000 acres of agricultural land in districts Hoshiarpur, Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana.

            Dr. Nijjar said that apart from this, a new project for assistance on community & individual projects of underground pipeline for judicious use of available irrigation water has also been proposed with an outlay of Rs.100-CR.

            Besides this, Rs.11-CR has been approved for taking up new schemes for construction of Water harvesting-cum natural recharging Structures/ check dams in sub-mountainous kandi area, Irrigation Infrastructure for productive use of water stored in Village Ponds and construction of projects for Roof-top Rainwater Harvesting and Artificial Recharging in Govt./Institutional Buildings, he added.

GHAR GHAR RATION TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN SINGLE PHASE: LAL CHAND KATARUCHAK

Armed with the resolute will to provide ration at the doorstep of the people, the State Government shall undertake the home delivery service of atta from 1st October this year.

          The scheme shall be implemented across the State in a single phase. The entire state has been divided into eight zones.

          Disclosing this, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak said that under the scheme, the Government shall offer, to every beneficiary enrolled under NFSA, the option of home delivery of Atta.  Any beneficiary, who wishes to physically collect his entitlement of wheat from a Fair Price Shop (FPS), shall have an option of OPT-OUT through a suitable IT intervention freely available to him. The delivery cycle of distribution shall now be changed from quarterly to monthly cycle.

          The Home Delivery Service shall introduce the concept of Mobile Fair Price Shops (MPS). The MPS shall be a transport vehicle, preferably fitted with GPS facility and cameras to live stream the handing over of Atta to the beneficiary, said the Minister adding it shall mandatorily have the facility of weighing scales in order to satisfy the customer about the weight of the Atta before it is delivered. All mandatory requirements of biometric verification, handing over of printed weight slip to the beneficiary, etc. shall be provided by the MPS. All MPS licences shall be issued by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. An MPS shall enjoy a status similar to the ‘Fair Price Shop’ under the NFSA. Only MPS shall offer the facility of home delivery of Atta. 

          A Special Purpose Vehicle shall be formed by MARKFED to undertake all activities required to successfully offer the service of Home Delivery of Atta to the beneficiaries of NFSA.  The State Government shall bear the entire cost of grinding Wheat into Atta even though the guidelines framed under NFSA allowed the recovery of these grinding charges from the beneficiary.  The new service is, therefore, expected to result in a saving of about Rs. 170 crore for the beneficiaries as regards their present expenditure on converting Wheat into Atta at the local atta chakki, added Mr. Kataruchak.

Minority students can apply till September 30 to get stipend under centrally sponsored schemes : Dr. Baljit Kaur

To avail Centrally Sponsored Pre-Matric, Post-Matric and Merit Cum Means Based Scholarship Schemes disbursed by the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, students from the minority sections can apply till 30th September 2022. 

Stating this here today, Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities  Dr. Baljit Kaur said  the department is continuously working for the welfare of the needy and economically weak people of the state. It is under this mission that pre-matric, post-matric and merit-cum-means scholarship for the minority class are being given. 

Dr. Baljit Kaur informed that during the academic year 2021-22, 5,03,179 students have been benefited by scholarship under the pre-matric scholarship scheme, 55,430 students under the post-matric scholarship scheme and 1716 students under the merit cum means scholarship scheme. The Ministry of Minorities, Government of India has opened the National Scholarship Portal for all the States on 20th July 2022 to provide the benefit of these schemes to the students during the current year 2022-23. 

Students can apply online till 30 September 2022 for pre-matric scholarship scheme and online till 31 October 2022 for post matric scholarship scheme, merit-cum-means based scholarship. To avail this scheme, the student should belong to minority community (Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist, Parsi, Jain and Christian), income limit for pre-matric scholarship is Rs.1.00 lakh per annum, income limit is Rs.2.00 lakh for post-matric scholarship and merit-com – Income limit for all means is Rs 2.50 lakh. FORMULATE POLICY TO BOOST TOURISM & PROMOTE PUNJABI HERITAGE GLOBALLY: ANMOL GAGAN MAAN

In order to fulfill the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann’s dream to promote Punjab’s heritage, cousines and life-style globally, Punjab Tourism & Cultural Affairs Minister Anmol Gagan Maan has directed to formulate an effective policy to boost tourism in the state and promote Punjabi culture worldwide.

            Presiding over the review meeting of the tourism & cultural affairs department here, the Cabinet Minister asked the department officials to ensure proper publicity to the museums and other heritage buildings to promote rich cultural heritage at large scale.

            Emphasizing to assess feasibility for generation of revenue from the heritage sites, the cabinet minister categorically said that conservation and protection of Punjab’s rich heritage should be the priority.  

            She directed officials to prepare an all-out strategy to promote Punjabi culture and tourism through electronic & social media and other communication means to attract foreign tourists for visiting the heritage sites of the state.

             Anmol Gagan Maan assured that necessary measures will be taken to establish a world-class theme park in Punjab, besides reviving the disappearing historical relics/traditions of the state such as traditional costumes, folklore, folk dance, folk songs, traditional games and Punjabi cuisines to bring these to the global stage.

            Principal Secretary Tejveer Singh and Director Karnesh Sharma apprised the Minister about various departmental institutions, heritage buildings, museums and various under-construction projects protected by the department.

            “I will soon inspect all the heritage and traditional properties in and outside the state and prepare a strategy for generating resources of income from them”, said the Cabinet Minister, directing the officials to take all possible steps to make “Pind Babe Nanak Da” project at Sultanpur Lodhi as a world class heritage site. 

            Reiterating promise to take Punjab tourism to new heights, Anmol Gagan Maan assured officials to extend all possible support to resolve their problems.

CABINET MINISTER AMAN ARORA LAUNCHES ‘SHAHEED-E-AZAM BHAGAT SINGH HARIAWAL LEHAR’

Punjab Cabinet Minister Mr. Aman Arora today launched ‘Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh Hariawal Lehar’ here from village Jakhepal Chauwas under which 50,000 saplings of traditional plants to be planted across Sunam assembly constituency.

          On this occasion, he also called upon the people to plant saplings and maintain them properly. He said that this campaign has been started by the Punjab government under the guidelines of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to safeguard the environment of the state.

          He said that this campaign would only become successful if the people will participate in making their surroundings green.

          Mr. Aman Arora said that there is a dire need to make sincere efforts to save the environment so that clean and green environment could be provided to future generations. 

On this occasion, apart from the officials of the Forest Department, prominent personalities Gram Panchayat, Param Kumar, Tehsildar Kuldeep Singh, Naib Tehsildar Amit Kumar were also present.

Surprise inspection of shops done as per order of Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij

As per the order of Haryana Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, the Food and Drug Administration Department and a team of health workers conducted surprise inspections of various sweet shops, milk dairies and grocery shops located in district Panchkula and ensured food safety and standards. Under the Act, 2006, samples of food items were taken and sent to food laboratory in Karnal for analysis.

Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Food and Drug Administration Department said that under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules 2011, all the food manufacturers and sellers and food handlers should take training from FOSTAC – Food Safety Training and Certification authorized by FSSAI. You have to register your business under FSSAI. He said that it is mandatory for hotel and restaurant operators to apply for Hygiene Rating Certificate.

He informed that online training is being provided to the businessmen of Panchkula district by Digital Skill Certification Institute, an authorized training partner by FSSAI. He said that during the inspection, samples of cold coffee and Amul fresh milk were taken from Goyal Bros Hospitality (Burgrill) DSS-310 Sector-9. Similarly, samples of paneer were taken from Wok Man, DSS-312 Sector-9, and Verka Shakti milk from Hot Millions Restaurant, DSS-310 Sector-9. Apart from this, samples of Tomato Ketchup and Amul Tazaa Milk from Fab Cafe, SCO-305, 2nd Floor Sector-9 have been sent for analysis.

Supply of clean drinking water should be ensured in all areas: Anoop Dhanak

A meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee was organized in Bhiwani today under the Chairmanship of Haryana Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sh. Anoop Dhanak. In the meeting, out of 15 complaints, 12 complaints were settled on the spot and directions were given to keep three complaints in the next meeting.

While addressing the meeting, Sh. Anoop Dhanak directed the officers to ensure supply of clean drinking water and he also directed to match the level of sewerage manhole to the level of the road in Bhiwani district and if there is any pothole, then it should also be fixed. Along with this, all the Gaucharan land on Loharu Pilani road should be measured and its status report should be given.

He said that the complaints related to the CM window should be disposed off by the concerned departments within the stipulated time period.

During the meeting, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment heard the complaints of the general public including the non-official members of the committee and directed the officers to settle them immediately.

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sh. Anoop Dhanak said that the development works allotted under the D-Plan in the district should be completed within the stipulated time period. He said that the possible plans of the D-Plan should be made on the basis of the projects sent by the public representatives.

In the series of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Department of Information, Public Relations and Languages, Haryana and District Administration organized a play in Sirsa’s Chaudhary Devi Lal University.  The play “1857 ka Sangram – Haryana Ke Hero Ke Naam” was staged in the auditorium of the University.  The stage was inaugurated by the Haryana Power, New and Renewable Energy and Jail Minister, Sh. Ranjit Singh by lighting the lamp.

During the staging of this play, one and a half dozen famous artists presented the saga of the brave martyrs in front of the audience with their impressive performance through light and sound show.  The Power Minister announced a grant of Rs. 5 lakh to the drama artists.

Inaugurating the stage, Sh. Ranjit Singh said that in the series of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Haryana Government will pay tribute to the sacrifices and struggle and countless unsung heroes and make the younger generation aware of their history.  Other cultural programmes are also being organized.  The first spark of the 1857 war for independence was also ignited from Ambala in Haryana.

The audience was awestruck while watching the play.  This play made the audience present to think about unbearable pains and sorrows that the brave heroes of the country had to bear to liberate the country. It is because of their sacrifices that we breathe in an independent nation.

Ensure all Government amenities to residents of registered colonies: Aman Arora

In continuation of the marathon meetings with the development authorities of the big cities in order to provide better citizen centric services to the urban area residents and ensuring holistic development of the cities, the Housing and Urban Development Minister Mr. Aman Arora today held brainstorming discussions with the officers of PUDA, Amritsar Development Authority and Jalandhar Development Authority.

          Carrying forward the agenda of the Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Mann led State Government to ensure top notch services to the people of Punjab, the Minister directed the officers to make sure that the residents of the registered colonies get all the Government amenities in accordance with the law and nobody who lives in the urban centres should be devoid of such facilities. The Minister further emphasized chalking out a detailed roadmap for effecting big time administrative reforms with prime focus on urban development so as to make the cities of Punjab, model ones worth emulating by the entire country.

Noting that it has come to his notice about the work pertaining to the registries in the registered colonies of Amritsar being held up, Mr. Arora took the quick decision to open up the registry related work. “In future, no unauthorised colony would be tolerated”, said the Minister.

          Directing the officers of PUDA and all the development authorities to strive to ensure that no urban area resident faces any harassment, the Minister disclosed that he would visit the big cities in the coming days and listen to the grievances of the masses besides instructing the concerned authorities to redress those problems the spot.

          Among others present on the occasion included Principal Secretary of the department Mr. A.K. Sinha, Chief Administrator PUDA and Director Town and Country Planning Arshdeep Singh Thind, Additional Chief Administrator Amritsar Development Authority Lovejeet Kalsi and Additional Chief Administrator Jalandhar Development Authority Mr. Jasbir Singh.
