Haryana Vigilance Bureau nabs E/ASI and Patwari accepting bribes

Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has arrested two government officials red-handed while accepting bribes worth Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Both have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Sharing the information here today, the spokesperson of the Bureau said that first case is related to Hisar district wherein the SVB team has caught E/ASI Dharampal of CIA Hisar while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from complainant Dinesh Kumar of village Mirchpur now living at Sanjay Nagar, Balsmand Road, Hisar.

The complainant approached the Bureau alleging that E/ASI demanded bribe in lieu of not taking legal action against him in a case related to giving his licenced weapon to another person for photo purposes. He also threatened him that if the demand is not fulfilled, he will take action against him.

The SVB acted promptly on the complaint and a team in the presence of duty magistrate arrested the accused E/ASI while accepting bribe of Rs 15000.

The spokesperson further said that in another case Amarjit, Patwari of HSIIDC, Rai, Sonipat has been caught red-handed by the Vigilance Bureau while accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from a farmer in Sonipat district.

Complainant, a resident of Garhi Bala informed that accused Patwari was demanding bribe in lieu of preparing the papers for the release of compensation of his land acquired by the government for the construction of KMP expressway in 2006. Accused Patwari told that he will get a compensation amount of Rs 18 to 22 lakhs as well as interest after the court decision. For this, he will have to pay Rs 75,000 to him. The deal settled at Rs 40,000 and the farmer gave Rs 20,000 in advance due to compulsion. After the complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap and arrested the accused Patwari taking a bribe of Rs 20,000.

A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is underway.

CM ANNOUNCES TO REDUCE TRAINING PERIOD OF NEWLY RECRUITED PATWARIS

In order to enhance the efficiency of the Revenue department, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today announced to reduce the training period of newly recruited Patwaris.

          Addressing the gathering during a function to distribute District Allotment letters to newly recruited 855 Patwaris here at Municipal Bhawan, the Chief Minister said that the reduction in training period will enhance the efficiency of the Patwaris working in the field thereby facilitating the common man. He said the state government is committed for streamlining the affairs in each and every department for ensuring that people don’t face any problem. Bhagwant Mann said that this is need of hour for the progress of the state and prosperity of its people.

          Striking an emotional chord with the new recruits, the Chief Minister said that they must use their pen for delivering service to people in a fair and transparent manner. He said that the Patwaris must dispense their services honestly so that people don’t face any problem. Bhagwant Mann expressed hope that Patwaris will stay grounded and serve the people with utmost professional commitment.

          Congratulating the Patwaris, the Chief Minister said that it is result of their hard work, consistency and commitment. He said that the youth who have worked hard deserve this post as they have cleared the cut throat competition totally on merit basis. Bhagwant Mann said that more such transparent recruitments are in pipeline and will be completed soon.

          Making a scathing attack on the previous governments, the Chief Minister said that though his government is taking path breaking initiatives for public welfare in its initial days but his predecessors didn’t do such work even at the fag end of their tenure. He said that his government has in a few days done works which have not been accomplished in last 75 years. Bhagwant Mann said that he will continue to serve the people with the same passion and missionary zeal in coming times too.

          The Chief Minister said that people get elated with every passing day due to pro-people and growth oriented policies of the state government. Bhagwant Mann said that people of Punjab have bestowed huge responsibility on him and he will discharge this zealously. “People of Punjab are very happy since formation of our government as with dawn of every day deserving people get the jobs and corrupt ones get jail”, he added.

          In his address Revenue Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa welcomed the Chief Minister. He also congratulated the newly recruited Patwaris for their selection in the department. Brahm Shankar Jimpa also informed about the revolutionary initiatives been taken by the department.

          On the occasion Financial Commissioner Revenue Anurag Aggarwal, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Ravi Bhagat, Special Secretary Captain Karnail Singh and others were also present.

PATWARI AMONG THREE HELD FOR GRAFT AS MORE COMPLAINTS POUR IN ON ANTI CORRUPTION ACTION LINE

With eradicating corruption in the governance system of the state is the top priority of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government, the Vigilance Bureau has registered two fresh FIRs and arrested three persons including Patwari and Deed Writer for graft following complaints on Anti-corruption Action Line, said Chief Director Vigilance Bureau Varinder Kumar here on Friday.

          In the first case, Accused Patwari Manavdeep Singh posted at Banga and his aide Navjot Kumar alias Lavi were arrested on Thursday for accepting illegal gratification of Rs 2000 in lieu of registering Intakal of land transfer mutation from the complainant. In this regard, FIR No 9 dated June 30, 2022, has been registered under sections 7 and 7-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, range Jalandhar.

          In another case, accused ASI Manjit Singh posted at Police Station Dugri in Ludhiana Commissionerate has been booked for taking a bribe of Rs 1500 for submitting the challan in the court of an old case against the complainant. ASI was further demanding a bribe of Rs 3000 from the complainant. FIR No 7 dated 28.06.2022 under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Ludhiana and Police are conducting raids to nab the accused ASI.

          In addition to this, the Vigilance Bureau teams on Thursday have also arrested accused Deed Writer (Arzi Navis) Mukul Gupta posted at Tehsil office Jalandhar in a previous corruption case in which he took illegal gratification of Rs 20,000 for the registry of the plot of the complainant without NOC. The case FIR No. 08 dated 10.06.2022 under section 7a of the Prevention of Corruption Act had been registered at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Range Jalandhar.

          Pertinently, after taking charge as the Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann launched the anti-corruption action line 9501200200 and appealed to the people of Punjab to share complaints pertaining to corruption via WhatsApp so that the state could be made corruption-free. Since the launch of the helpline number of prominent people including State Health Minister Vijay Singla, former Congress Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, former Congress MLA Joginder Pal, and IAS Officer Sanjay Popli has been arrested on corruption charges.
