Uttarakhand ranked second in India in category of safety for senior citizens

Adding another feather to its cap with professional policing, Uttarakhand has been ranked second in India in the category of safety for senior citizens. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) crime in India 2021 report, Uttarakhand is a very safe State for senior citizens. With a crime rate of less than 0.8, Uttarakhand has secured second position in the nation after Assam in this category. According to the Uttarakhand police, there were a total of seven cases registered of crimes against senior citizens in the State during 2021. The national average in this regard is 24.5.

The director general of police Ashok Kumar said that the Uttarakhand police is committed to ensuring the safety of life and property of senior citizens. The officers incharge of all the districts have been directed by the DGP to take necessary measures for ensuring the safety of senior citizens and their rights. It is pertinent to mention that apart from being ranked second in safety for senior citizens, Uttarakhand has been ranked first for recovery of stolen items with 68.7 per cent recovery rate in the NCRB report. The State police’s recovery rate of 68.7 per cent in theft cases is more than double the national average of 30.2 per cent. In the NCRB report, Uttarakhand police is followed by Tamil Nadu with 64.8 per cent and Himachal Pradesh with 55 per cent recovery rate.

PUNJAB GOVERNMENT BRINGING MAJOR REFORMS IN CITIZEN SERVICE DELIVERY

In order to provide citizen-centric services in an easiest manner, the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is bringing major reforms in citizen service delivery system by adopting e-governance in its functioning.

            To ensure the commitment of the government, Punjab Governance Reforms Minister Mr. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, on Thursday, reviewed the functioning of Governance Reforms department in the office of DGR, Mohali. While reviewing various projects running by department on behalf of the State Government, Mr. Meet Hayer appreciated the working of department and asked that services delivery should be given within stipulated time frame and with high quality.

            The Cabinet Minister was apprised by Mr. Tejvir Singh, Principal Secretary Governence Reforms that Governance Reforms department is a key service department of Government focusing on implementation of IT and e-Governance projects. Department is running many projects through its implementation agency,  PSeGS like Sewa Kendras, Unfied Helpline number 1100, PGRS, Online Admission portal, RTI Portal, PAWAN, State Data Centre, e-Sewa, E-office, GePNIC etc. Other projects like Whatsapp helpline of corruption, Mobile Apps, State Data Policy were also reviewed. It was also informed that department is also providing its technical assistance to other departments.

            Mr. Meet Hayer said that there will be Zero tolerance policy in case of any citizen gets harassment in Sewa Kendras and strict action shall be taken against Service Operator companies of Sewa Kendras. He further asked department to closely work with other department in bringing reforms in services and functioning. All the departments should start working on e-office as mandated by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann. He also asked department to explore the methodology of doorstep delivery of services.

            The department was given mandate to bring state of art technologies like AI, ML, IoT etc. to improve functioning of working of Government. The Minister also visited State Data Centre and understands its working and importance.

Citizen Mobile App for Complaint Management System launched: Dr  Kamal Gupta

According to the decision of Government of India, Single Use plastic has been banned in the state. Urban Local Bodies Minister, Dr. Kamal Gupta launched the Citizen Mobile App for Complaint Management System for citizens to file complaints. Through this, any citizen can file online complaint about plastic.

The Urban Local Body Minister said that the citizens can use this mobile app for complaining about burning of plastic waste in cities, lodging complaints of plastic garbage, manufacturing, distribution, stocking, sale and use etc. On mobile, this app can be accessed using Parivar Pehchan Patra ID. As soon as the complaint is registered, it will reach the supervisors of the concerned authorities. The app has been linked with Goggle maps and the information regarding the place from where the complaint has come will also be received.

Dr. Gupta said that the supervisors can reach the spot and issue an online challan which can be settled through online, RTGS, Net Banking, Credit Card, Phone etc.

He requested the citizens to download this app and file complaints wherever they get information about the use, burning, garbage, distribution, stock, sale etc. So that plastic be banned completely.
