Speaker orders probe in controversial appointments in Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha

In a major decision the Uttarakhand Assembly speaker Ritu Khanduri has constituted a three-member expert committee to investigate the allegations of illegal appointments and promotions of employees in the State Assembly. The committee headed by former principal secretary Dilip Kumar Kotia has been asked to submit its report in a period of one month.

The other two members of the committee are Surendra Singh Rawat and AS Nayal. All the three experts of the committee are retired officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and had held the position of secretary, Personnel in the past. In another decision, the speaker has sent the Vidhan Sabha Secretary Mukesh Kumar Singhal on a long leave. He will have to remain present before the expert committee whenever required and help in the investigation proceedings. Interacting with the media persons about her decisions at her office in Vidhan Sabha on Saturday, Khanduri categorically stated that strict action would be taken on the basis of the report of the expert committee.

She said that any type of indiscipline and irregularity is not acceptable to her as speaker and that she is ready to take strict measures for reforms in Vidhan Sabha in the greater interests of the people of the State. Khanduri accepted that recent disclosures and media reports have tarnished the image of the Vidhan Sabha and she would adopt every possible measure to restore it. She said that the expert committee would investigate the appointments made in the Vidhan Sabha in two phases, in the first phase the appointments done from the year 2012 till date would be investigated and in the second the appointments from the year 2000 to 2011 would be scanned.

The regulations of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha were formulated in the year 2011, prior it the provisions of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha regulations were applicable. In a clear message that she means business, the speaker said that impressed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she decided to come to public life and has made his quote ‘ Na Khaunga Na Khane Dunga’ her guiding principle

Uttarakhand CM appeals all students to take forward river of sacred knowledge among the masses

Uttarakhand Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the 40th Gyan Deeksha ceremony in Dev Sanskriti University, Haridwar on Saturday. Greeting the students on the occasion, the CM hoped that all students would take forward the river of sacred knowledge among the masses. He said that the whole world is looking towards India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the International Yoga day is an example of this.

The CM exhorted the students to take a pledge to serve the people and make a new India. He said that we all have a golden opportunity to write the Amrit Kal of the country in the next 25 years. Dhami said that everyone would have to contribute to fulfil the dream of new India as envisioned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Remembering the founder of Gayatri Pariwar, Sriram Sharma Acharya, the CM said that there are very few people like him who have changed the lives of millions of people in the world with their ideas. He was a harbinger of mass awareness in the society, he said.

The Chancellor of the Dev Sanskriti University Pranav Pandya attended the programme in online mode. He said the ceremony would provide a new life to the students and is an opportunity to instill spiritualism in them. Uttarakhand ranked second in India in category of safety for senior citizens

Adding another feather to its cap with professional policing, Uttarakhand has been ranked second in India in the category of safety for senior citizens. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) crime in India 2021 report, Uttarakhand is a very safe State for senior citizens. With a crime rate of less than 0.8, Uttarakhand has secured second position in the nation after Assam in this category. According to the Uttarakhand police, there were a total of seven cases registered of crimes against senior citizens in the State during 2021. The national average in this regard is 24.5.

The director general of police Ashok Kumar said that the Uttarakhand police is committed to ensuring the safety of life and property of senior citizens. The officers incharge of all the districts have been directed by the DGP to take necessary measures for ensuring the safety of senior citizens and their rights. It is pertinent to mention that apart from being ranked second in safety for senior citizens, Uttarakhand has been ranked first for recovery of stolen items with 68.7 per cent recovery rate in the NCRB report. The State police’s recovery rate of 68.7 per cent in theft cases is more than double the national average of 30.2 per cent. In the NCRB report, Uttarakhand police is followed by Tamil Nadu with 64.8 per cent and Himachal Pradesh with 55 per cent recovery rate.

Uttarakhand CM appreciates PM Modi talking about Bedu (Himalayan fig) in his Mann Ki Baat programme

Uttarakhand Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi talking about Bedu (Himalayan fig) in his Mann Ki Baat programme on Sunday.

The PM also appreciated efforts being undertaken to encourage production of Bedu in Pithoragarh district.

Thanking the PM for this, the chief minister said that the Himalayan fig is indeed very beneficial for health and is used by the local people to resolve various ailments. Dhami also had a telephonic conversation with Pithoragarh district magistrate Ashish Chauhan and congratulated him and the residents of the district for their initiative.

With the help of the district administration, Bedu juice, jam, chutney, pickle and other items are being made in Pithoragarh. Dhami further said that in his Mann Ki Baat programme, the PM had also talked about water conservation, efforts for a nation free of malnutrition and the need for awareness and encouraging people to use coarse grains for this purpose. The State government is working in a planned manner towards achieving this, said Dhami.

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had reached its present status on the strength of its work. All work plans in BJP governments are focused on the society.

All decisions of the government are reaching the lower levels through the party workers which ensured reelection of the BJP government in Uttarakhand in 2022, he said. Dhami was speaking at the meeting of the newly appointed State office bearers of the party at the BJP State office here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the party works on the path of service, determination and dedication. Stating that Uttarakhand is prone to disasters, he exhorted the party workers to work with the society in order to tackle such situations. “It is only our government which puts its decisions and works in front of the society every year which makes the people aware of our style of functioning and transparency from time to time.

The BJP governments at both the Centre and State have made major efforts to bring about a positive change in the living standards of the common person,” he said. The party’s State in-charge Rekha Verma exhorted all the office bearers to fulfill their duties efficiently and start preparing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Govt to launch online portal of Nanda Gaura Yojana to make application process easy, transparent for potential beneficiaries

Uttarakhand Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya said that the government will soon launch an online portal of Nanda Gaura Yojana to make the application process easy and transparent for the potential beneficiaries. She said that the department is also planning to provide milk, bananas and eggs to children aged six months to three years through Anganwadi centres which are currently being provided to three to six years old children.

Arya said that she has directed the officials concerned to make a proposal to make the application system for Nanda Gaura Yojana online through a portal to make it accessible for all beneficiaries to bring it to the cabinet meeting. She also said that the department will also bring Anganwadi workers under this scheme too. She said that the portal is expected to be inaugurated by the end of September.

She also said that WECD will issue a new mandate to determine the selection process of Anganwadi workers’ honorarium which will be brought to the cabinet too. She said that the department is also planning to bring Anganwadi workers under the Mahalakshmi Kit scheme too. She said that Anganwadi workers have made the department aware of several issues and officials concerned have been directed to take proper action to address them.

Coordination between the producer and exporter will have to be facilitated to boost export from the State. Linking residents of border areas to export will increase the acceptance of the products of such areas and also make access to the producers easier. Uttarakhand Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said this while speaking at a seminar held here on the subject of encouraging exports from Uttarakhand on Friday. He said that concrete efforts are being undertaken to encourage industries in the State.

The atmosphere in the State is conducive for industry with an ideal law and order situation providing a better environment for those wanting to invest in the industrial sector. He exhorted entrepreneurs connected to export to prepare a plan which becomes an achievement of the State in 2025. He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given us the ‘Local goes globalmake in India for the world’ slogan. The PM has said that export is the ladder which will enable the nation to reach the developed category from that of a developing nation. Under PM Modi’s leadership, the nation is progressing swiftly and has become a major economic power and a leader of the global community.” Dhami recalled the works done by India to help other nations also during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The CM recalled that PM Modi had stated that the third decade of this century will belong to Uttarakhand. He said that the State government is working to make Uttarakhand among the best States of the nation by 2025 when the State celebrates 25 years of its creation. “We have set a target to double the State’s GDP in the next five years. Special focus will have to be laid on exports for this. Uttarakhand is moving towards becoming a favoured destination for investment in north India due to its progressive policy structure, availability of quality human resource and proximity to important markets in the nation. We are also focusing on improving the contribution of the service sector. The tourism sector has been accorded industry status,” added the CM.

AIIMS Rishikesh is blessing for people of the State and nearby areas: CM Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh is a blessing for the people of the State and nearby areas of other states. Terming AIIMS as the centre of the aspirations of the people, the CM said that people have immense faith in the institute. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Paediatric Child Care Unit (PICU) at AIIMS Rishikesh on Friday. He said that 114 acres of land has been transferred by the State government to AIIMS Rishikesh for construction of a satellite centre at Kichha of Udham Singh Nagar district.

He expressed hope that the AIIMS administration would start the construction work there soon. Dhami said that Uttarakhand is a unique State in terms of tough geographical terrain and providing health facilities to the remote areas of the mountainous state is no less than a challenge. In such a situation, the AIIMS Institute can play the role of a mentor in health-related schemes, he opined. The Executive Director of AIIMS- Rishikesh Dr Meenu Singh said that AIIMS Rishikesh would provide health facilities like robotic medicine and telemedicine in the future. She added that AIIMS Rishikesh is working on a special plan to eradicate deadly diseases like tuberculosis. The head of department (HoD) of Department of paediatrics Dr Navneet Bhatt said that the PICU unit would have 16 beds. Cabinet ministers Premchand Agarwal,Subodh Uniyal, Rishikesh Mayor Anita Mamgain and others were present on the occasion.

Dhami held a meeting with the AIIMS Rishikesh authorities on Friday. In the meeting he was informed about different activities, faculty members and student strength by the AIIMS administration. The Executive director of AIIMS Rishikesh, Dr Meenu Singh said that patients are treated using modern techniques in the institute and serious patients from remote areas of the State are flown to the institute by Heli Service. She said that apart from the patients from the State, the institute services patients coming from different parts of the country. Dr Singh said that AIIMS would soon use drones to provide medicines for the patients in the remote areas. CM Dhami advised AIIMS Rishikesh work in coordination with the disaster management department so that quick medical aid is provided to the disaster affected.

CM Dhami flags off Dehradun- Almora- Pithoragarh helicopter service from the Dehradun airport

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the Dehradun- Almora- Pithoragarh helicopter service from the Dehradun airport on Friday. The service would operate from Dehradun to Haldwani, Pantnagar, Almora and Pithoragarh.

The seven seater Pawan Hans service would initially fly once a week. Expressing his gratitude towards Union Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for starting the helicopter service, the CM said that all such services operating in the State under the UDAN project would help in improving air connectivity in the State. He said that the helicopter services would make transportation easy.

Dhami said that Uttarakhand is an important state from tourism and religious point of view. He said that the State government is committed to providing every facility to the pilgrims and the tourists visiting Uttarakhand. Dhami asked Pawan Hans to increase the number of seats in the Heli service and also said that the service should operate for three days in a week.

Cabinet ministers Prem Chand Agarwal, Subodh Uniyal, secretary Dilip Jawalkar, chief executive officer (CEO) of Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) C Ravishankar and general manager of Pawan Hans Limited Sanjay Kumar were also present on the occasion.

Transport dept gears up to set up automated driving test tracks in 10 cities in Uttarakhand within a year

The Transport department is gearing up to set up automated driving test tracks in 10 cities across the state within a year. The officials informed that the department has currently set a budget of about Rs two crore to set up these tracks in 10 cities that include Dehradun, Vikasnagar, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Haldwani, Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar, Kotdwar, Roorkee and Almora.

According to them, the department has marked pieces of land to set up these automated driving test tracks in six cities-Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kotdwar, Almora, Kashipur and Haldwani. The officials said that the department has received a detailed project report (DPR) for the automated tracks in some cities while others are under the process. They said that the track is ready at Jhajhra in Dehradun whereas a proposal has been sent to the state administration to give the management of the track in Haridwar to IDTR.

The activities in the automated driving test track in Haridwar will be commenced in the next few weeks, as per the officials. The transport department is working meticulously to set up the tracks in all these cities within a period of one year and considering the current work progress, all formalities to start the tracks will be done in the given time, said the officials.
